In the mountains of New Mexico, and it’s frigid and windy. It’s uncomfortable to be outside, so there……I’m glad that will bring you joy. Sweet trip, I love the cockpit cam angle.
Great way to start the year. With a little sail. I guess by the time we watch this you will be sweating your ball off in south Florida and we get frost bite here in nyc
Nope you’re seeing this almost real time! I arrived in St Augustine yesterday and am still sitting here on anchor Happy new year and stay warm up there!🤘
50 degrees in Port Orford, OR! I'm living vicariously right now, you're on the trip I was planning for my boat this year. Fair winds and happy new year!
74 degrees in the Sonoran Desert outside of Yuma Arizona, my land yacht's winter home. I'll begin my slow trek up into the Colorado Rockies when it tops 80 degrees here.
Now that’s what I’m talking about, sweet! I spent two winters in Arizona when I was living in my van. Loved it out there. Spent most of my time in Tucson and surrounding areas. The Dragoon Mountains were my favorite. Miss the desert, enjoy! 🤘
We passed ya in Charleston (kept rolling) and today we left Beaufort running the ditch..im jealous haha. The cold is on us Northerners. Hope to see ya in the warm soon. Love ur content n ur a badass bro
Screw that, thats not sailing weather! They finally broke (I think beyond repair). Shout out to your brother?cousin? Whoever left those glasses; they saved my ass
I’m still in St Augustine. My AIS is weird. It rarely updates on MarineTraffic and shows up as Tusitala 😂 If you check me out on the SeaPeople App I don’t track on it but I open it up at anchor to update my location. Maybe I’ll catch ya and we’ll share an anchorage down the way!
I'm planning the same trip in March...Question...why not exit Jacksonville for offshore passage, why did you decide to exit at St. Augustine? I'm planning to sail from Beaufort, NC to Jekyll Island in one run, rest, and then from there to St. Augustine to stage for passage directly to West End, Bahamas, crossing the Gulfstream around Boca Rotan or so...what do you think?
I took the ICW to St Augustine for a couple reasons 1) There wasn’t supposed to be any wind 2) the 2-3kn current was in my favor 3) offshore I would’ve had to fight the current at one of the two inlets (st John or st Augustine)
Sounds like you have a good plan! I haven’t been in the Jekyll inlet but it looks straightforward. You could go all the way to boca raton if you wanted, but ft Pierce or west Palm are good options too. Really if you’re doing a straight shot I’d time it to take a north wind down and wherever you are when that dies off motor across real quick. If you’re looking to sail across I’d pull in somewhere and wait for that SSW wind to cross. I crossed on a east wind once but I was headed northeast from the keys
Thanks so much for showing people how to do it. Too many pussies wanna go on the inside. This time. Of year the wind is in your favor going south. Just Get out there and get it. I do appreciate you from doing what a real sailor would do. Stuck in an ice storm in missouri where i'm at. BEEN recovering from total hip replacement. Told you I was old. I should be back on the water to spring. The beautiful muddy waters of south louisiana.:-)
I’m planning to put one on. I just need an eye bolt in the cabin top and think I could piece together the rest from what I have. I’ve been using the preventer to hold the boom down tying to different cleats depending on angle
Hello and welcome! The windvane I have is called a hydrovane. It has its own rudder making it independent from my steering system. I lock the wheel to account for any weatherhelm (to help out the windvane) If I were to lose steering (broken cable, rudder damage/lost, etc) the hydrovane would still get me into port

What do you use for a heater in your boat? Do you use one of them heater buddies? It takes a little gas bottles.
Up here in New Hampshire. It’s 25° here. Keep on heading south brotha!
25 is no bueno, I’ll keep runnin from it! Stay warm up there Peter!
5 degrees Muskoka Ontario. All the water here is solid!
Solid water is a big NOPE! I did recently find out about iceboats though and if it wasn’t so cold I’d be all over that. Looks fun, and fast!
