  • In this video, we're going to learn how to make these adorable little crochet stockings. These would make a cute crochet ornament or Christmas garland!
    The Crochet X'mas mini stockings can be crocheted with any yarn or thread. The size will depend on the yarn and hook used. These are super simple and quick to whip up and are a great use for small scraps of yarn.

    This is, by far, the best video & instructions for a mini Christmas stocking. I had searched for a while to find one that was simple, easy to make with clear 'counts.' Many others are done too quickly with no stitch counts. I was constantly tearing out my stitches only to go back and redo. (It's a learning opportunity, I realize. :) Thank you again for a great video and clear instructions. **My only peeve, you may wish to consider using a darker background; up against the white it was difficult to see. Thanks again!

    Written Pattern (let me know if I've made any mistakes):
    Round 1 (white):
    make mr and chain one
    6hdc in mr
    close ring with st
    Round 2:
    chain 1
    2hdc in every stitch (increase round)
    leave 1 stitch
    st into first hdc
    Round 3:
    chain 1
    2hdc in first stitch
    1hdc in second stitch
    repeat until end
    leave 1 stitch
    st into first hdc
    chain 1 and cut yarn off
    Round 4 (red):
    attach red yarn
    1hdc in every stitch
    leave 1 stitch
    st into first hdc
    Round 5-6 (2 rounds):
    chain 1
    1hdc in every stitch
    leave 1 stitch
    st into first hdc
    Round 7:
    chain 1
    1hdc in every stitch
    leave 1 stitch
    st into first hdc
    pull long loop of yarn DO NOT CUT
    Round 8 (white):
    attach white yarn in 4th sitch from st
    1hdc in the next 12 stitches
    chain 1 and flip your work
    1hdc in the next 12 stitches
    chain 1 and flip your work
    1hdc in the next 12 stitches
    push white forward and fold together
    crochet top together with 6st
    chain 1
    cut yarn off
    flip the white back out
    Round 9 (red):
    pull loop down to hook
    chain 1
    1hdc in the next 3 stitches
    2hdc in the corner stitch
    1hdc in the next 8 stitches (the white section)
    2hdc in corner stitch
    1hdc in the remaining 3 stitches
    leave 1 stitch
    st in first hdc
    Round 10-14 (5 rows):
    chain 1
    1hdc in each stitch
    st into first hdc
    cut yarn off
    Round 15 (white):
    attach white yarn
    chain 1
    1hdc in each stitch
    st into first hdc
    Round 16:
    chain 1
    1hdc in the next stitches until you're aligned with the back of sock
    chain 15
    st in either the same stitch or the next stitch
    1hdc in the remaning stitches
    st into first hdc
    cut off yarn and tie in all ends

    Such a brilliant tutorial. I really love the way you explain the number of stitches which many do not and we end up making it all incorrect. I have made this for my tree and it turned out brilliant. Please teach us to crochet dresses and tops, your tutorial will never go wrong.

    Anyone else reaaaally struggling with the half double crochet stitch?? I cannot do it smoothly, the loops are always too tight and I have to use so much force to pull the needle through

      Hello! Try using one hook size bigger than the one you are using. Pull up slightly when you bring up a loop, then yarn over and complete the stitch. Hope this helps! I will be doing a tutorial soon on how to do this on my channel! 😊

      Try slowing down your playback speed. That is how I have learned. Hope that helps. Don't give up. You will get it!
