  • I recently purchased the Snow Peak Amenity Dome M and wanted to make a video showing the setup and also some general shots to give people a better idea of the size and scale of the tent. (Skip to 1:09 if you want to get straight to the setup)
There are only two Snow Peak retail stores in the U.S. (Portland and NY), and I am in California with no brick-and-mortar shops that carry Snow Peak tents. I hope this video helps to show how big the tent is (I am 5'9"), and what the setup looks like for one person.
This video was shot the day after I received it so this is just a general setup and first look overview, not a review. The Amenity Dome M Mat/Sheet Set is also shown in the video as well. I placed some common camping gear (cooler, small chair, lantern) in the vestibule are to help get a feel for how large that space is.
    Amenity Dome M:

    Amenity Dome M Mat/Sheet Set:

Let me know your thoughts, comments, or questions about the tent. And also if you guys want to see a review after I've tested everything out. Thanks!

We just bought this tent after watching lots of RUclips videos about it (including yours, Thanks!!). Wish we could get the mat & sheet for it but it’s sold out along with half the snow peak inventory. We bought the entry pack TS which is this tent plus the mesh shelter. Its an outstanding camp set up! If anyone is on the fence about buying it, better order it before it’s sold out too.

I'm puzzled -in this video you lay out the under sheet (footprint) but don't seem to peg it down ..if I peg it (first) and then put the tent on top of it (next) there's an area that protrudes beyond the outer tent wall that, during heavy rain, collects water which then runs under the tent. Am I doing it wrong?
i.e. How best should the footprint be pegged?

Peg the guy lines first for the awning, before putting the poles.

Sweet Tent. I was thinking of picking up the Amenity L but ended up getting the Entry Pack T&T instead. Snow Peak makes some awesome equipment. Oh and where is this camping site?

I just got back today from camping and using the the Amenity M and it was awesome. For two people there is so much room! This video was shot at Huddart Park in the Bay Area (California). It's a really nice regional park but im not sure if they actually allow or offer overnight camping.

    The video looked good.
I am also using the Amenity Dome m, but the phenomenon is occurring that the poles are broken all 4 times out of 4 times of use. Have you not had that experience?

What you think about the snow peak mat? Is it worth it? Plus how thick is it? Is it comfortable to sleep on it without a sleeping pad? Thanks

Ooh yes! Would love to know this too!
I have the amenity dome with the Shelter and I’m in need of a tarp! The price is steep for the mat set!

The mat is a nice addition, as it's a little easier on your knees crawling in and out. However, the price is EXORBITANT - I paid +/- 250 USD. The reason I bought the set was because it was the only way to get a fitted ground sheet! REALLY, Snow Peak!!? Thickness is .50 in/1.25 cm. To me, the foam could be a bit stiffer. The ground beneath would have to be very flat and free of debris or small stones to sleep comfortably, IMO.
I really love Snow Peak's design in this series but the tent's are not without a few flaws. Top of the list is that the material for the floor should be a bit thicker and tougher. None of the Amenity series are really backpacking tents so added weight is a non-issue. The fact that tent-specific ground sheets are not made available without purchasing the inner mat is ridiculous. Any warranty problems SP has regarding damage to floors in the Amenity tents was self-inflicted. Do not use these tents without some kind of ground protection even if homemade out of tyvek or poly tarp. All of that said, I still give them 8.5/10 for unique and useable layout.

@@moeracoleenm Kelty makes Noah's Tarp, a great waterproof nylon tarp that can be set up multiple different ways, and it comes in a few different sizes. They're very durable and economical. Kelty and MSR both make adjustable aluminum poles that work great for free-standing configurations.

Your stakes are angled incorrectly…they should be in the opposite direction. Otherwise, cool vid showing off the tent.

Hi thanks for the video. I recently bought the snowpeak tent as well. I’m trying to find out what other items do I still need to get to set up the tent. I am guessing it doesn’t come with rope and poles. Is that correct? Anything else I should buy?
Thanks. It’s my first tent purchase. Appreciate your help.

Hi Alvin! The tent does include the rope and poles, everything you see in the video and everything needed to setup the tent. We purchased the floor mat for the inside of the tent which I like and it provides a little padding for the whole inside of the tent. We also purchased the more robust tent "solid stakes" which don't bend as easily as the ones that come with the tent.
