    Who Am I?
    Hi, I'm Marina if we've never met. I am a creative, jack of all trades, homesteading in the Inland Northwest. I began practicing magic in middle school, not knowing I was doing so! And through the years I never imagined I would learn as much as I have! So I thought it may be helpful to share what I’ve learned with you magical folks! I also sell Washington made Beeswax Candles and Shadow Work Journals/Grimoires on my website! I hope you stick around to explore, and learn about magic and sustainable living with me!

    I can totally understand your hesitation to cut up that leather. It's so pretty the way it is. 🤩

    Oh my! My brain screams not to cut the map bag! It's so beautiful! But I agree with below that a tri fold travelers notebook would probably work cause the clasp is so nice and the flap fits so well on it.

    • @ElderberrySprout
      @ElderberrySprout  Год назад

      Right!? I feel like I should leave it as it is, but then it won't get used! Yeah I think the tri-fold is the right call too :) I'm going to try to use the pockets on the inside as well if I can reposition them!

    What a find with that leather map satchel! Personally I would use the closure and make it a trifold travelers notebook. I wonder if you could play around with the size you cut it so you can preserve the lettering. I noticed the mobile piece hangs pretty far over the clasp, so maybe you could cut your leather and have that center mobile piece hang over the edge slightly? Or maybe consider taking your bag to a place like Tandy Leather in Seattle. They might be able to help remove the hardware for you. Anyway thanks so much as always for sharing your projects and creativity with us!

      Hey Kirstin! I think I will keep the flap like you were saying. and I love your idea of having the flap tighten up against signatures leaving an overhang! Thats so creative! After I give it a good condition ill see if I can bend that side in a little bit more :) Thank you for your wonderful insight and your recent package!

    I repaired a broken piece of pottery that my late sister made with gold. It came out beautifully. You have a lot of fun projects going on. Can’t wait to see how they progress. I love the leather case for a journal. I love the clasp and the fact that it closes. Makes it feel mysterious

    • @ElderberrySprout
      @ElderberrySprout  Год назад +1

      Right! It would feel like a waste to remove the flap and the closure! I think Im going to keep them :)
      That is so awesome you repaired some of your sisters pottery!!! What type of gold did you use? I was thinking of getting gold leaf, but I also am feeling lazy and i might just use acrylic paint! I would love your expert advise XD

      @@ElderberrySprout I used glue specifically for repairing pottery. Then I went back over the cracks with gold leaf and lastly touched it up with a gilding wax. It isn’t perfect but it’s not supposed to be lol

      @heathersmith8549 gilding wax over the gold! Genius! I never heard of gilding wax before! Thank you for giving me the solution I needed!

    I love stamp carving, but hadn't thought of carving some of sigil designs - thank you for that inspiration! With the leather map case, I would hate to cut away any of the tool work - especially the word MAP if it's going to be for a traveler's journal! I would probably just make it an odd-sized journal cover. With your thrifted floral linens, I love your idea of adding a snake to it!

    • @ElderberrySprout
      @ElderberrySprout  Год назад

      Glad you got some sigil stamp inspo!
      Yeah I've decided to keep the map part, but I am going to cut some of the bottom off! Who knows I might be able to get a pocket sized Travelers Notebook out of the off cut!
      And I'm glad we're both on the snake bandwagon XD

    I love your videos and anxiously wait for the next one to come out. You are very creative. I honestly love your style and everything that you do. I love the leather map sachet that you got. What a great find. I would definitely try and use that closure that is already there. To me, it doesn’t have to be centred on the front. It could be closer to the bottom of your Traveler's notebook. I can’t wait to see how you end up re-creating it. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas. You are really good.

    • @ElderberrySprout

      Thank you so much, you're so sweet! Thank you for validating that it would be OK to have the closure closer to the bottom. I think I just needed other people to say it was OK for me to do that, before I felt ready to cut into this luscious leather! Ill be sure to share what I come up with in the next installment in the series!

    You probably already figured it out but 2 part epoxy where ya combine it works well on metal to metal.
    I bought a used car recently and the rear license plate mount was jacked up, I figured an auto shop would fix it for me but none of them wanted to touch the issue due to liability. I ended up gluing strong magnets to my license plate and they just magnetized to the car itself. It's still on, worked surprisingly well, and let me tell ya our roads are just terrible.

    • @ElderberrySprout
      @ElderberrySprout  Год назад

      2 part epoxy is a great idea! I'll try that next time Cause I know there will be a next time lol). I ended up using superglue after sanding the inside of the clip and the brass pen, and it is STUCK there so I'm happy!
      Glad you're being undustrious and creative to solve your license plate problem! I've used jb weld epoxy for bodywork before and I think you can drill through it if you need to for liscence plate holes. I would be scared to loose my license plate with magnets! Especially on some of the roads where I live lol. Get it together America!
