I share your view that we need and really in truth care little for a lot of what we purchase. However, I think people can confuse minimalism with simply meaning having very little objects in your life. Sounds logical for sure but simplifying don to that doesn't address broader issues. Minimalism should be about your purpose and what you value in life not a trendy modern furnishing fashion. In fact, many homes I have been in look near empty and I find that rather devoid of character. Many are full of junk - it just is tucked away out of sight in hidden draws and pantries etc... The other thing is that people still spend up big but instead of buy hard copies of books or music i.e. CDs, everything is on their computer. In fact, many, and by no means all. single young people I know live in a bedroom with basically just bed and clothes but spend all day on their computer either playing games or BUYING stuff they can then use on their device. Stuff is not always highly visible! That isn't a bad thing either. However, I believe it is about meaning and enjoyment. If looking at a painting every day gives you great pleasure, then why not buy it. You are also supporting an artist. If you have a favourite novel, you wish to reread why not buy it. The thing is to not become obsessed with owning a lot but there is nothing wrong with purchasing items that provide you or another with pleasure in life. It's people who buy things to show people they don't like, objects they don't either need or want. That is a tragic behavioural pattern, but it really does occur in most families. Buying/having things is not intrinsically bad. Two points: It is whether they add quality to your life, even if in tiny ways or are of genuine benefit that matter and secondly one needs to keep a self-check on him or herself to ensure they are not falling into the habitual practice of purchasing objects believing it will change your life - because on the larger scale it won't. Moderation, purpose, and common sense - three components that is all we need to use. After all who wants to go to a minimalist museum where there isn't any art to be seen. We have 5 sense to enjoy our life. Simply use them wisely and don't overload them through conscious or subconscious greed. Whoops late amendment: Try not to believe in the upgrading crap. It is a huge con and creates massive waste in our society and environmental degradation.
Thanks for sharing, this is probably the longest comment I've ever seen on RUclips! I came to the conclusion that minimalism for me at the moment is focusing on things that are important to me and rejecting unimportant things You wrote about the emptiness, but maybe it is the emptiness in the houses - that is the character and junk - is it possible things that are objects of memories? Also, you mentioned environment, I'm Gen Z and I got interested in collecting CDs and that was instilled in me by my father, so I agree the environment has an effect :) I think buying things to impress someone is wrong! But sometimes it can be self-delusion, "you say it will make my life better", but it really isn't. Therefore, for this, I created a list of questions and understood the types of purchases that exist, in order not to perform wrong actions in my understanding. What do you mean by - “Try not to believe the update crap”?
@juliansadokha Thanks for reading and replying to my post. I do have a tendency to waffle on a awful lot. Of course objects can bring back memories and for me if I rediscover a book or toy that gave me great pleasure as a child then I get a lovely sense of nostalgia. Feelings are important and if those are positive than I think that is a good thing. For me now as an adult it is about appreciating beauty. It may be the birds in my garden, who looking at the trees from my window but it might also be a painting. I don’t think (I am not suggesting this is a claim your making) objects in themselves are innately bad of course. Without them museums would be lacking. My issue with conceptual art is that if you take it to its extreme then you really shouldn’t need to create any object (tangible) at all. The concept or thought is the art itself. I however would call that philosophy. Which is valuable to help use define our morality etc… Music of course is ‘an object’ in that it is a thing, not tangible, in one way of thinking, and for so many it is a life force in itself. Gaining meaning and some form of genuine pleasure from an object I see as a positive and long as one has a balanced approach and reflect on whether there is a connection or not. For me a connection with music is very strong and an essential part of my being. Sorry I have wandered of topic a bit so I would like to emphasise that I agree with all your thoughts expressed in your thoughtful and articulate reply. By upgrading crap, I am referring to the big companies telling society that what they have is redundant and needs to always be placed with the latest edition. The waste this causes is scary. I think a lot, but I am certainly no gifted philosopher, so I apologise if my words seem rather confusing. I really enjoy talking about topics such as this and I very much appreciate people like yourself who hopefully influence the masses to stop and think and be honest with themselves - to ascertain what are the priorities in this life. Thanks again.
@@juliansadokha Hi I just read this online and it sort of summed up my thoughts. The emphasis I want to give to is the word 'beauty'... Quote: 'So now we have to go through the painful process of detox. If it’s not useful or beautiful, then chuck it out. And don’t get suckered again. Consumerism is an evil that will destroy us all. He also talks about of course natural beauty to be found in nature and other non-consumer aspects of life.' I promise I am not alluding to you or anyone else on this video post but the writer goes on to say... 'But the hoarders have a new option in their pathological avoidance of de-cluttering: hire some self-storage space. According to the 2018 Self Storage Association UK Annual Industry Report - and no, it’s not a riveting read - the self-storage industry continues to enjoy the boom times in Britain. There is now over 40 million square feet of storage space in the UK, much of it filled with the mountains of detritus that we have acquired over the years and, for some reason, find ourselves unable to part with.' Although I made mention of this is in a rather vague way I feel these comments support my suspicions. This continues to be an important topic and whilst we may not all agree on each and every single issue raised, everyone who has written and shared their thoughts has done something extremely important; that is we are increasing awareness and all hoping the world will wake up and change will take place before our social fabric of society collapses under the weight of greed over a love for others. Hello! You will not believe, but the last two months, I have given the order with my parents at home where I was born. These are things from childhood, clothing, toys… Stuff from kindergarten, school, art school, university, business etc. I agree with you that an indicator of a good thing is the memories that it brings to you. Based on your comment, I came up with the name of things that I keep, but I don't use - it will be my personal "Museum" For me, the connection with music is very strong and the important part of my life. Let me ask what music you prefer? I started to collect the CD … and already 22 pieces in my collection I completely understand your frustration with companies pushing consumers to upgrade to the latest edition of their products. This constant push for upgrades not only contributes to waste but can also place a financial burden on individuals and families. It's important for companies to consider the environmental impact of their products and take steps to reduce waste, such as implementing recycling programs and designing products with longevity in mind. At the same time, consumers can also make a difference by being mindful of their own consumption habits and considering whether they truly need to upgrade to the latest version of a product. I am grateful to you that you have shared with all what you think, and it turns out that we are planning a long journey, because I prepare a lot of such content, where our thoughts can coincide, but maybe not in everything, so I will be glad to discuss (i'm preparing a new video for publication this week ;) By the way what is your name?
Thanks for sharing this topic) Yeah, decluttering can help to create a sense of calm and order in your environment. When your space is clutter-free, it can be easier to relax and focus on the things that matter most. And it can also help make room for the things that truly matter in your life :) By decluttering, you can avoid buying duplicate items or unnecessary items in the future. This can help you save money in the long run. Also, I think it can help others, by donating or giving away items that you no longer need, you can help others in need. For me this is a positive and fulfilling experience (:

@@juliansadokha Hi
I just read this online and it sort of summed up my thoughts. The emphasis I want to give to is the word 'beauty'...
Quote: 'So now we have to go through the painful process of detox. If it’s not useful or beautiful, then chuck it out. And don’t get suckered again. Consumerism is an evil that will destroy us all.
He also talks about of course natural beauty to be found in nature and other non-consumer aspects of life.'
I promise I am not alluding to you or anyone else on this video post but the writer goes on to say...
'But the hoarders have a new option in their pathological avoidance of de-cluttering: hire some self-storage space. According to the 2018 Self Storage Association UK Annual Industry Report - and no, it’s not a riveting read - the self-storage industry continues to enjoy the boom times in Britain. There is now over 40 million square feet of storage space in the UK, much of it filled with the mountains of detritus that we have acquired over the years and, for some reason, find ourselves unable to part with.'
Although I made mention of this is in a rather vague way I feel these comments support my suspicions.

Based on your comment, I came up with the name of things that I keep, but I don't use - it will be my personal "Museum"
For me, the connection with music is very strong and the important part of my life. Let me ask what music you prefer? I started to collect the CD … and already 22 pieces in my collection
I completely understand your frustration with companies pushing consumers to upgrade to the latest edition of their products.
I am grateful to you that you have shared with all what you think, and it turns out that we are planning a long journey, because I prepare a lot of such content, where our thoughts can coincide, but maybe not in everything, so I will be glad to discuss (i'm preparing a new video for publication this week ;)
By the way what is your name?
Thanks for sharing this topic)
Yeah, decluttering can help to create a sense of calm and order in your environment. When your space is clutter-free, it can be easier to relax and focus on the things that matter most. And it can also help make room for the things that truly matter in your life :)
By decluttering, you can avoid buying duplicate items or unnecessary items in the future. This can help you save money in the long run.
Also, I think it can help others, by donating or giving away items that you no longer need, you can help others in need.
For me this is a positive and fulfilling experience (:
Хто сказав Добрий ранок😊?
cусідка)
отако дивишся-дивишся по англійськи і тут "доброго ранку everybody!", а на маєш!
Приємне здивування?
Be careful those pigeons carry so many diseases…they are the rats of the sky 😮
Oooops haha
I thought to create the number of "Oooops" that I did in this video :)
I really like your video cause it's the way I live minimalism too :)
Невже ти так мало їси?)
Так, після цього коктелю я не відчував голоду до обіду
Very organised person. Doesn't match the profile of a creative ))
I am again convinced that a smart organization, on the contrary, helps me to be more creative ))
@@juliansadokha wow! Then perhaps there’s something for me to learn yet.
Слава Украiнi! 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Героям Слава!!!
So, you are stepping on Ukranian flag? Nice.
No, I'm just emphasizing the point that I associate with the Ukrainian flag
@@juliansadokha Still stepping on it. And rubbing your butt cheeks on it too. 😂 Go right ahead. I won't stop you. You can probably tell by now, that I support Russia. Anyway, it was a nice video until you brought politics into it.
