Celebrating 100 years of colossal jams. Both way.
The colonial British built the causeway, road, and rail to transport tin and rubber from prosperous Malaya with the intention of making Malaya part of Great Britain. However, after World War II, the British faced financial constraints due to heavy spending on the war and could not afford to maintain their colonies. The British never expected that this causeway would become a symbol of friendship between these two brotherly nations.
They only built it to bring the wealth across to the port in Singapore. Explains why the internation shipping cartels would not support Malaysia in building it's own port till late 80s.
Bridge is also a Symbol of Malaya’s & Malaysia’s Failures & Missed Opportunities … 😊
@@Hs5687 enjoy your HDB flat and COE 😅😂.
@@gkdijeiwhheuheyhwygwyhgst5308Singapore's HDB are akin to the luxury condos and way better than the low cost housing in Malaysia.
Haha true
I wish both governments would build sheltered motorcycle lanes and pedestrian walkways with cool air blowing as well as drinking fountains and restrooms along the way.
Why no ferry service between these 2 countries?
SG’s Security… similarly Tanjong Pagar ..
There are but ferry routes take longer time longer distances than just across causeways links
Replace the causewst with a brooklyn or golden gate bridge equivalent. Its blocking public access to free flow of water for sports, leisure or commerce.
Endless headaches in the last 20 years for Singaporeans.
Padan muka
Bridge will always be a Symbol of how Tiny Singapore Controlled Mighty Malaysia
Tiny land. People suffered in cramped HDB flats and ridiculous COE prices 🤣🤣🤣
The problem is Bank Negara Malaysia does not managed the ringgit well. It depends fully on market forces & very frustrating. While Singapore dollar is pegged in narrow band against basket if currencies. The gap between both currencies will further widen in future and induce unnecessary commuters for better job (Malaysian), better groceries & leisure prices for Singaporean. BNM is source for the blame, imho.
100 years more of jam...and high tolls...we did not built a bridge....we built obstacles
Lets celebrate this momentous century by building a 3rd Causeway road link! Lets make this one under the sea with Tunnel Boring Machines
Yeah sure 😂
MAKE THE MONEY IN SINGAPORE
SPEND THE MONEY IN JOHORE👍👍👍👍👍
Same idea bro.😉
Singapore lupa nak claim pulau christmas
Symbol of failure to solve the congestion despite of modern technology...
The traffic jams have gotten worse. After 100 have it gotten better.
Can't wait to ride the RTS Link less jams
100 years has passed, politicians in Malaysia becoming more stupid
The causeway benefits Singapore and Malaysia: Cheaper trained Malaysian workers for Singaporean employers and earning income unable to be earned in Malaysia for Malaysian workers...
In the end of the day, Malaysians should ask why their own government failed to provide them with an economy like Singapore and who was reaponsible for their fates working outside their own country...
The connection that means a lot to both sides of the citizens. It is long long overdue. Just wait in a long long queue. Sick of the jams. Walk or swim across is faster. Malaysian politicians are busy self-serving and though it benefits from Singaporean spending economy. Not worth the draining energy to go there anymore.
Should be replaced with bridge
The railway is not just severely underutilized, it's even ostracized by Singaporeans. It could have been used to carry more freights and helped alleviate road traffic jams in the Causeway and the borders. But it never fulfilled its potential.
think about it, it's 100 year and we are using the same road width with the drastic increase of traffic today. it's ridiculous.
They should both expand the road with more lanes so it is able to cater more cars and feed to the number of lanes instead of bottle neck.
we need elevated road above the tambak only for light vehicle.
101th comment here hahahaha
Hope soon Johore can succeed in independence! Infact MY should further divided into 13 countries to achieve economic prosperity as Malaysian always said Singapore success is because is a small place, very easy to manage 😂.
Sure or not?
Dont dream please johor is always a part of Malaysia
@@nirm3220 lol! If Singapore can be kicked out, Johore also can be kick out by Malaysia federal government! Hahaha
@@nirm3220not a dream. The crown prince of johor has already made threats to seceed
yes as a dictator myself, i agree 700 sq km is not difficult to control with conscripted army police and civil defence force manpower..
Celebrating by cutting cake inside ICA. Why will jam?
Malaysians are the greatest beneficiaries of SG success.
agreed! They can work in SG and still buy that Mercedes 600 limo in Mesia..
@@fidelcatsro6948who's fault is that exactly
Sg sells car at exorbitant and often unrealistic prices
Malaysia being a beneficial neighbour who has been providing us with almost everything we need is also another prime factor of Singapore's success. We should always express our appreciation.
@@GoodGood-vb8gm Unfortunately, many Malaysians are not appreciative of Singapore and SG local citizens who helped built a successful SG.
Benefitting directly at the expense of SG local citizens but never say thank you and still want to take things for granted and feel that they deserve everything. Without SG 3.5 exchange rate vs RM. Many will end up eating grass in Malaysia.
@@AleksiIvanov-kz5yb very narrow minded. If Kuwait is located next to Singapore, i am sure those poor Singaporean will flock to Kuwait to work even as janitor, so they could afford HDB rental. It is just the exchange rate problem. No one eating grass, not in Malaysia, Indonesia or Bangladesh, although we have plenty of their people in Malaysia. Your thinking process seem underdevelop, not align for someone from rich & developed SG.
Causeway is a symbol of controversy. Nations have progressed on different pathway. Change to a modern and better design bridge.
It means Sing dollar for Malaysian Bungalows
Both Singapore and Malaysia can't even build a bigger connectivity between each other...
Really need to improve fast !
It gives good blessing to all Malaysian

Majority people said the pap party run out of land to build hdb flats and run out of road for cars, but the pap party still dare to allow non singaporeans to buy hdb flats.
The PAP is a Very Capable Party… even an Indian can Win a Race Reserved for Malay … ie. Scandalous Uncontested PE17 😊
Because non-singaporeans are richer and have lots of money than singaporeans. Better sell to non-singaporeans 😂
Johor is fully self-sufficient. It has all elements of a state. The King of Johor wants more control. Thus, Johor should break away from Malaysia. Singapore can stand to benefit on greater integration with Johor while having lesser bureaucracy with Malaysia.
Cannot. PM Leexianlong already banned.
Maybe in the future if Malaysia's central government decays and weakens to the point it can't control all the states.
In the meantime still cannot and even the most powerful in Johore can't do much about it.
But what you want has already happened just on a different and smaller scale. Both countries have gone to china for a summit meeting and the existence of a special economy zone in Johore for sg investors have already come into existence and become reality already. Though not by Singapore doings, more of a super nation wanting it to be so as all the big investors are in sg and also want a bigger exercising field so they are the ones who made things happen not the small nations ruling class. Though they should be happy about it. As it still benefits them.
Take so long ? 100 years? Low productivity? Oh, Wait! I must be politically correct. So i say, wow, 100 years is a great achievement🎉🎉🎉
☘️The good about the causeway is it provide a choice to seek an answer or a better quality of life for people if they want it.
The bad about the causeway is you will forever be bound to time constraint and can never be freed from it no matter whether you are rich, poor, struggling or going for shopping and holiday. Your mind will constantly be reminded of time and racing with time to achieve and complete your objectives in life. This can be a mental torture over time for those who are unable to cut themselves away from this bridge.
For big country like Malaysia travelling to work is always long time even within Malaysia.
For malaysians it means you have a chance to earn higher regardless of what jobs await you on the other side.
For Singaporeans if they are the capable types it mean cheap labour and tenants to help you earn money and lighten your property mortage.
In the end both of these kinds want the same thing in life at old age. Material comfort and sense of security. Malaysians saved up enough for a landed back home and let their children to continue the cycle they have went fhrough and rely on savings and children to see them through the last chapter of life.
Singaporeans. Same. Once they have earned enough out of doing business and paying off their houses in Singapore they will use their savings and cpf drawouts to pass time in old life. Midvalley got a lot of this kind of singaporeans for studies purpose if you are curious to know. 😂
The above applies more to the older generations. The younger generations they are all basically screwed by this point. 🙂
Isnt it nice can buy quality pastries there 4 a price of HDB food court hahahaha
build more bridge
Great more d r u g s available
300 ,000 daily users of causseway x12 mths x 100 years= 3,600,000,000,000.00 trips....waste of human energy n productivity...shameful 4 both countries 2 contine using a dangerous bridge
CASINOS IN JOHORE👍👍👍👍👍
Majority people said it's a matter of time before the remaining singapore reserves $ be scammed away, or by the pap party of course.
sure, if no more in the govt
pap is the one that builds up the reserves
When we get tunnel Indonesia Singapura
tomorrow
Good that causeway has helped Malaysia to grow with SG’s help
especially Johor, the richest state in Mesia even KL is afraid !
Who be the sg PM also no use, majority people said they choose the sg pap party but only getting more and more sufferings and problems from the pap party always of course.
What suffering? More and more Singaporeans are buying condos, buying cars, HDL long queue, DTF long queue, malls packed elbow to elbow on weekends. Suffering are those fools who think talkibg smack against PAP will improve their lives 😂
Delusion
Lucky I didn't had any brand of the jab and that's why never sick before, as majority people said after they took the jabs previously but nowadays they only became more and more easily to fall sick, it's the pap party mistakes and there's no way to u-turn back.
how did you escape the covid jab persecution?
everyday badmouth pap get how much
主要就是私家车堵,现在的长堤虽然表面上拓宽了,但是私家车实际上还是两车道,那为什么不在旁边再开设两条私家车专用车道呢?
What's important singapore became a multi-nation country, multi-nation-singapore so even with the saf soldiers also no use, it's the pap party mistakes and there's no way to u-turn back.
