This is the kind of Gospel song that brings the fire down! We need more of that today in our modern churches. People wonder why the attendance in church is down. Who wants to go to a refrigerator? I want to feel the fire of God!
Southern Gospel is my favorite music and what I will always love but be careful not to lump God together with a certain style of music. What "brings the fire down" isn't a style of music. It's an humble heart and a holy life in reverence of Almighty God. The Oaks with "Elvira," "Y'all Come Back Saloon," etc was this exact style but obviously didn't "bring the fire down." That being said, we do need more churches who will sing the old style of gospel music and sing it well. Most churches try to please everyone by blending it all together and what is left pleases neither crowd. It's about preference. Some may want to worship the Lord with "Shout To The Lord" and others may want to worship with "He Set Me Free" but most don't want it in the same service or some kind of contemporary/southern gospel hybrid that neither crowd likes. I wish the southern gospel churches would stick with southern gospel and let the contemporary churches do their music. Then people can just worship however they please.
Attendance in churches was at its peak back in the day when all they sang were hymns. So no, this isn't what's needed in churches today. If attendance in churches in dependent upon music and entertainment, they're attending for the wrong reason.
Not my kind of music, but I could sit here listening to these guys day in and day out. What phenomenal talent! All around. Standing ovation right here!
Thanks for your inspiring video. It’s important to get ready by accepting Christ as Savior. Since we do not know when He will come or call, we can stay ready by listening to videos like this one and sharing with others.
I have never heard any man hit such high notes ever. Tears came to my eyes just hearing those notes. This is by far the best 1st tenor ever. Just on pure raw talent. May God bless him in whatever he is doing these days.
90's Gold City was my favorite. Tim Riley their legendary bass singer retired on 2004 after NQC and came back in 2009; currently, He is still the official bass singer for Gold City even though he isn't singing because of the stroke he got last year. While Jay Parrack became a music minister after Gold City and then a couple years ago he founded Jay Parrack and the Vocal Event trio. Jonathan Wilburn and his son, made the Wilburn and Wilburn singing duo, Jonathan was retired from 2008 to 2011 while the most consistent member of this famous line up is mark Trammell. He was never in rust unlike his other Gold City quartet mates because he is still singing continuously for the past 41 years. He was a member of the Jim Hamill and the Senators from 1974-1978, the legendary Kingsmen Quartet from 1978-1980, the group that He will mostly remember is with the Cathedrals from 1980-1990 then he co founded Greater Vision with fellow Cathedral Quartet Alumni Gerald Wolfe he sung in the trio from 1990-1993 then with Gold City from 1993-2003 then after that, He founded the MTQ.
I'm not even a believer but I love to hear the talent these groups have. That blonde tenor kicks some ass, he has amazing vocal control. What a marvelous voice!
I happen to be a believer, and I also love to sing- especially with groups like this. There is so much joy that comes through getting to sing about something you believe wholeheartedly. I have found that when I sing songs of faith I always enjoy it more because of what it means to me, and I usually do a better job. I think when these guys sing (or sang) like this their joy comes through and it makes their talent really show because they put so much of themselves into it. I love that you appreciate their skill even if you don’t necessarily believe everything they sing about. ❤
I laughed out loud at the look on Tim's face at 2:39/2:40 when Jay hits the high note Tim is singing his beastly bass note and Jay blows the roof off in his ear so Tim has the look on his face that says : "woah is that note coming from a human being? 0_o" hahaha I love it
Nobody can compare Jay Parrack, with David or Ernie... Its like comparing Ali and Tyson... they are all unique in there own way.... God has bless them with unique voices!
Get Up, Get Ready was written for the Papal crusade Pope John Paul II held in Cancun in the summer of 1985. The song was written by Donna Tanner and me.
This HAS to be one of the best performances (if not THE best) in the history of NQC. The group, the song, how each individual member sang their part, just made it soooo stinkin good!
Thanks for this video. It inspires us to get ready for the challenge of each day by going to the ONE who created it all and passionately stirring each other up to boldly step ahead.
This is the best group they can really sing gospel and I like them so much they are really good and I love to hear him Libby Curry they are a good group and special too they're very special
Hahahaha... Tim's look of astonishment at 2:44 is absolute golden... he looks over and is just so flabbergasted he stopped singing... of course I would have stopped too.. That's gotta be one of the only men on earth that can get into the 6th octive and sound that good. Jay parrack was truely crafted to be an amzing singer for God
@@nicholilarson8369 David sings in chest voice and this isn't...Learn your music terms please...David is the absolute best and anybody who studied anything related to music knows this as a fact...not opinion! David hit an F5 in chest voice way fuller than any note Jay could ever dream of hitting!
@@towardsheaven4196 anyone whose studied or performed knows it's a gift to be able to project like that from a nasally falsetto. Phelps has to have a better range with more power throughout... well he might have the best belt range you'll hear today, Guy Penrod I hear has about the same distance in range. Southern Gospel possesses some of the most versatile voices. Since we're both learned RUclips commenters, we'll set up a meet this weekend and have em battle for the highest note.
I don't think it really matters who think who is the best. These guys as with all the singers are doing what they love and that is praising GOD! Yes David, Ernie, Brian, Jay, and the rest are the best because they do their best every time they get a mic put in their hands. I have my favorite as does everyone but I am not going to try and push my opinion down anyone's throat.
If this song don't light your fire your wood is wet... Praise the name of the LORD.....
That's the truth
PRAISE GOD!!!!
That is the cathedrals quartet saying in the 1990
It's closer here in 2024. Signs are all around us. Jesus is coming back.
Amen!! 🙏🙏
This is my favorite Gold City Combination of singers. I think these guys are the greatest!
Mine too ❤
I don't want to take anything from any of the singers, but Jay and Tim are hard to beat!❤
Jonathan is hard to beat also and Mark Trammel !!
There has to be at least a thousand views from me. I am a Southern Gospel music addict. Every day I have to get my high on this song and others (LOL)
This is the kind of Gospel song that brings the fire down! We need more of that today in our modern churches. People wonder why the attendance in church is down. Who wants to go to a refrigerator? I want to feel the fire of God!
Clarence Hannon amen to that
Clarence Hannon AMEN!! You are exactly right!! A lot of our churches need to be more on fire for GOD!!!

When me and my brother fight
I always listen To this song and i Will Feel Good
This is one awesome song and you have no idea how close we are to getting ready to go
Gold City is one of my all time favorite quartets and this lineup is the best they ever had in my opinion.
This is my favorite lineup... I love listening to Mark Trammel and Jonathan Wilburn sing
Not my kind of music, but I could sit here listening to these guys day in and day out. What phenomenal talent! All around. Standing ovation right here!
How could anyone dislike this video? It's a beautiful song, with great singers.
If the music in heaven is like this then I’m ready! What a blessing they are!!
Even this music pales in comparison to the angelic melody we'll hear in heaven
Absolute best version of this song hands down. This lineup blends like no other.

GOLD CITY....!!!! No more needs to be said .. AWESOME!!!! LUV U guys !!!!!!!SR 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
If churches today served God with praise and worship songs like this they'd break out into some Revival services that they've never experienced
This is a great way to get the family up for Church...just sing this song...Amen !
This is the best version of Gold City; never been a better group of talent. Jay took after his dad Johnny who sang tenor for the Kingsmen.
Without question, the greatest gospel song ever written, performed by the greatest quartet ever.
This lineup was the best ever...great harmonies...not been same since
Sorry but at least 500 views are just from me ..... I Love This Song.... The message and singers are just a great way to start the day !!!!
Best lineup gospel music has ever had in my opinion

My favorite Gold City lineup ever! (Free, Parker, LeFevre, Riley is a close second).
This is a great song by my favorite version of the group. It's so true though we need to be ready because God is coming back soon!:)
This is my wake up song every morning. I absolutely love it❤ Praise The Lord God Almighty ☝️🙏❤️🙏🙌🙌👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌☝️
I have never heard any man hit such high notes ever. Tears came to my eyes just hearing those notes. This is by far the best 1st tenor ever. Just on pure raw talent. May God bless him in whatever he is doing these days.
Jay Parrack at his finest...
Richard Carrier amen
He has a good teacher.
Who's doing the alto part? He can do it, he's good

oh no, so sad to hear about Tim hope is doing better
Love southern gospel, listening this year 2021. Fell in love this style of music when I met my husband in the 90's. God is so good & awesome😊
It's really a blessed feeling to see Jay hitting those high notes. God bless us all!
been listening to this almost every day since 2012. ain't stopin' now!
Hit that note Jay Parrack!!!! I LOVE IT!!
Me and my brother sang this in my church and everyone loved it! They said it was the first time they ever heard it
Can’t make up my mind who has the most incredible voice - Parrack or Riley. After listening 20 years! 😊
these are the songs that people need to listen to more often!!!
This group when I was 4-5 was my favorite
I never get tired of this song.
The current lineup has brought this song back. But I still prefer this version. The live band definitely helps.
Now that's a tenor singer!!!!
Absolutly amazing, the tenor is so amazing.
This song give me chills and when jay sings at the end you can tell he has the power of god on him!!
Impressionante a extensão de voz desse tenor Jay Parrrack !Maravilhada!

This is the perfect southern gospel song.
Jay Parrack is outstanding.
I listen to this song every night at work. Beat gets me going while reminding me of who I am.

I don’t appreciate that you like god but I’m cool
That you don’t like god

The Best Video EVER!!!!!!!!!!
Jay and the bass singer are probably my favorite singers.
Nobody can compare Jay Parrack, with David or Ernie... Its like comparing Ali and Tyson... they are all unique in there own way....

That final note.. SHEEEESH!!! amazing
This Song is so Awesome and the singers

Jay Parrack, Brian Free and David Phelps is in my opinion the best tenor-singers.
No one touches David Phelps. It's not even close.
David Phelps is amazing, but I don't think he can hit the high tenor like this.

I agree, how does he get up there? Tim I love that bass.
Thank God for old time Christian's! Helped save my soul!
I love that Jay and Mark both are Arkansas fellas! Yay for Arkansas!
I love the look Tim Riley gives Jay Parrack at 2:44 in. Good gracious son!!
Great line-up!
