Hi . I ran last year and also go the one sided sun burn - it was like a "badge of honour" the next day when bumping into fellow runners 😂 . Wish I was there this year but will be watching from here in the UK 🇬🇧

Most Important Tip: Practice Downhills!! That quad feeling is a very special feeling starting at mile 7!

Helpful video!! Running it the second time coming up and this was a good reminder of what the course is like.

Thanks this is really helpful!! I’m running Boston for the first time this year, this will also be my first full marathon, running for a great charity! I’m up to 18 mile runs now, doing all my long run training on the course itself. And on March 23rd I’m starting in Hopkinton and running to BC to get that training run in!!

Thank you! This was very helpful knowing exactly where the hills are. Plus to pack a protein bar for afterwards. This year is my first Boston and fifth overall.

Last time I spent the first 16 miles hamming it up and giving high fives to every kid who had their hand out on the course. It was fun but it was a big waste of energy that it turns out I didn’t have to spend. Next time I plan to be much stingier with the high fives and just concentrate on my running.

Oh no..... Haven't trained down hills and it's in 2.5 weeks. Goal 2:55-3:00. Thanks for the talk through and tips

Running it in 2 weeks and collecting my 6 star. I’m curious about the hills. I know from my training in the UK I run hills all the time. Let’s just say an American runner’s idea of a hill is very different to mine..I’ve found that any sort of speed bump is classed as a hill in the US and me genuinely be like “what hill?”
Even my Dutch buddy who trains in flat holland be like.. “what hill?”
But, it’s the location here is the tricky part rather than at the start and the cumulative effect of 3 inlines in a row.

I wonder if you can Google similar elevation and steepness grade hills near you for reference… though I will admit the first time I ran heartbreak hill, I was surprised by its aclaim because it did not seem intimidating. The big factor is really the fact that it’s at mile 21. Though, the first technical Newton hill is definitely challenging.

@@harrisontherun cheers but as you say, it’s the location 16-21miles that is the challenge.

Any additional recommendations for someone who will be on the course twice as long as you were?
