  • Puss In Boots: The Last Wish blew my expectations out of the water. This video is an exploration of what made this movie such a success, a story of what animation can do for those who are suffering, and why this movie instantly became one of my all time favorite pieces of media.
Pick it up. I promise, it's worth it.

Hi! I'm sorry about the scan lines. This is a reupload of last week's video as the essay was CC'd by Dre*mworks and they have not responded to my dispute. As of now I have no idea what will happen to it. I'm not happy about having to do this but I am hoping that the obtrusive visual edit will keep this one safe. IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, I'll be uploading a podcast-esque version with a few stills. And if the other video is eventually released, I'll just have two copies of it up, I guess. Thanks for all of your support on the first upload. I'll try to have a Valentine's Day video essay out soon.

This movie is my favorite this year alone, and truly shows what animation and storytelling can do and that it has no age range or limitations. It's relatable on so many levels, and you made a lot of great points that showcase that. The one line of "Pick it up" was portrayed and embedded into the story so well, and you explained it in deeper detail of why that is beautiful. It isn't always easy to keep going, to "pick it up" and find the strength and hope to keep taking those steps forward no matter what life you've lived, but it's so special that movies and stories such as this one can impact everyone, and at times even save those who truly need it the most. Thank you for making this video, seriously thank you for all that you do! Know that you're awesome, and you're doing great even when things get tough. Never stop being you, because you are only one of many, many, many unique and infinite stars that make the universe shine! ♥
(repost of my previous comment, but hopefully nothing goes wrong with the reupload this time! Thank you for reuploading it, hope you're doing well!)

One of the many things i like most about this sequel is that the plot had elements that both kids and adults can enjoy! i always love a good animated film that can appeal to audiences of all ages! and of course it was such a treat to hear Puss and Kitty's original voice actors reprise their roles after 11 years!!!

Thank you for reuploading! I didn't get to comment on the last one but this video resonated strongly with me and actually heightens my love for the movie (and it was already one of my favorite movies of 2022). As a twenty-something, I have been through those moments early on where I've wished to hear Death's whistle or find a quick fix to pretend there's nothing wrong. After working on myself, I've definitely come a long way but I still have smaller moments where I need to remind myself to Pick it Up so I can truly be my best self. This video has awakened me to a new phrase.

Quite straight from the heart, Nikki. I had some personal changes happen back in October where I was scared myself. I've recently learned to "pick it up, and I decided to fight to protect my loved ones and family.

Thank you so much for making this video Kiki. I caught a bit of it before the CC but now after watching the full video I understand why it meant so much to you and i’m really grateful you happened to go see this movie on that day and for sharing with us how much it impacted you. I didn’t expect this much out of a Puss in Boots sequel when I first heard about it but now I really am eager to watch it and experience it for myself. Thank you for your realness and vulnerability and for speaking your truth. I agree that the message of this movie and the message of your essay are deeply needed right now by so many if not everyone in the world. Never forget that you are a wonderful being who is worthy of love and that your light has touched so many and made a genuine impact with the heartfelt work you do. You make a difference by being here and I’m grateful you have brought us all together by sharing your truth. Love to you always ❤️

I was originally going to see this movie " for free" this morning. But after 5 mins, I genuinely felt bad as it was such an amazing start that I decided to go see a screening for it as it has just come to cinemas here in the UK this month. I defintely watched it more for it's animation and characters, than the story as I'm not in the same place you were in personally watching it for the 1st time. But you're summary of it here made me tear up. I still thought the movie was fantastic just as enjoyable adventure comedy on my own, but this perspective really felt enlightening. Great video covering this stellar movie!💖

Hello, i just wanted to say that your video made me cry, hearing your story about how you relate to this movie felt too real and deep to me. I relate to you, and i can hear the emotion and very true feelings in your voice on the final part of this video, where you discuss why you titled it the way you did. The way you value the animation, message and overall lesson of the movie makes me understand how deep you appreciate the movie, and how it helped you and made you grow.
I don't know whether or not you might like to hear about my experience too, but i feel comfortable sharing it here, in your video.
I was also in a very bad mind state when i watched this movie. I'm in my mid twenties and life hasn't exactly been the best for me, a lot has happened to me that i also don't feel the need to get into detail, but let's just say that a lot of the time i just wished that life went by quick to stop suffering, to prevent bad things to keep happening to me. Late 2022 was a time where i simply thought that life was too much to bear... but i decided to stick around to not make people around me miserable if i wasn't here.
One day, in the middle of all my sadness, i saw a thumbnail, just a thumbnail from Schrafillas Productions praising this movie. I respect his opinion a lot, and i ended up going to see the movie without any prior knowledge, no trailers, no plot, nothing.
It was stellar. Just from the beautiful first scene i was hypnotized by the beauty of this movie, the beautiful landscapes, the marvellous colors... The animation was amazing, the battle scenes reminded me of Spiderverse, the colors popped, the characters were full of life, it was hilarious, and the dub was simply phenomenal (i'm from Spain, so Antonio Banderas felt like a perfect fit and you can hear how much fun he was having delivering the lines).
But the thing that stood to me the most were the lessons taught to me: "One life can be enough" and "Fight for this life. Don't give up on it, fight to live every second of it". I always thought that i have wasted my life by being so miserable and not achieving everything i wanted to do, by not being the person that kid me wanted to become, but watching this movie made me realize... that we only have one life, and just because i made mistakes or i "wasted" my time, it doesn't mean it's all over.... it doesn't mean i can make more beautiful memories tomorrow, and maybe i won't be all those things i want to be, but i can still fight for the life i have left. And maybe yeah... maybe one life is enough.
Thank you for this beautiful video, i'll make sure to revisit it from time to time, just as i will revisit this movie.

This movie wrecked me something fierce. In fact, it has something to say that I so badly needed to hear that I lost count how many times I've watched it when I have some time alone.
Perrito is pretty much living rent free in my heart, and he ain't even real, but to me, he is. A character who got dealt the shittiest hand walking out on the other end perfectly content.
And, of course, a talking ginger cat who I clicked with at that panic attack scene, because I had so many of them, and it reminded me what I went through, and, that I'm still here, and I'm doing better.
Just need that final push to deal with the pinched nerve in my neck that had me utter, in full seriousness, that I want to die, during one of the spasms. Hope I can sleep through the night, and when tomorrow comes, I'll have to pick it up, because an animated talking fairy tale cat told me to.
DreamWorks, please don't stop making stuff like this. In fact, all the animation studios, you have an entire world at your finger tips, if it can be drawn and animated, it can be used to tell a story that will save a life, keep someone from making that one bad decision, keep people inspired to wake up, hug those they love, push through the bullshit of the civilization we've been dropped into, and be greatful for the time we have and those we share it with.
