All islands depends on tourism. Also, nowadays if you are well educated with technology you can work from home in your computer. There is call centers jobs that hires people while they are staying home. After --20 years in the medical field, I am opening my restaurant in Roatan the end of this year, just waiting for my Honduran papers. I can not wait, because there is plenty of opportunities in Honduras being in the center of Central America and a lot of natural resources. great information
Yea there are call centers, but because the electricity it’s not so reliable most contracts have issue. But Nice to hear about the things you are doing on the island , and thanks for tuning in.
We absolutely fell in love with Ro ton our very first visit! We came with our two adult children and they also love the island and the people. I can’t say enough about the people, we have two hijos adoptados that we feel are like family. Every time we come there they are so glad to see us and hug us and spend time with us when they’re not working it’s been so amazing! I can’t wait to move! Crossing our fingers this will all work out
There is shipping company that operates from Florida to the Island of Roatán doing shipping every 15 days. To be specific (hybor shipping) is the biggest shipping company on the island!
Great info but as a U S citizen and having owned property here in Roatan for the past 17 years, a foreigner can own property here on the island, not just lease.. There are things you must knowing before purchasing so gathering info from a legal source here pror to purchasing. There is crime here on Roatan but so is their crime in most US cities. USE common sense. Would you flash a wallet or leave your cell phone on a table unattended? Look around your surroundings prior to making a rash decision. By far much safer on the island than cities like Chicago.
Thanks! I have dual citizenship. Born in Tela but raised in NYC. I am a computer network and cyber security specialist. I plan to divide my time between Honduras and Miami. My only concern is steady internet access. But we'll see. Thanks again.
Wait a minute, did you just say that foreigners can not own land? I'm confused because property and homes are for sale? I need to live there for two years before I can be able to purchase land🤷 Are you sure?
foreigners can purchase up to 3,000 square meters (approximately 0.72 acres) of land within 40 kilometres of the country’s borders or coastlines.
Is that on the Islands?
