SCP-527 why would it tick them off?

@@StephenSchleis because that means they're out of tune😂

The last time I played my Trumpet was around 2003 before youtube was around.... I learned more about tuning my pitch from this 5 minute video than I did from four years of lessons in school. Much appreciated. Recently picked my Holton MF ST550 back up and it's like riding a bike...slipped right back into it, but with a bit more knowledge about how to correct the pitch. Thank you!

Thanks for this very helpful lesson sir! I have picked up the trumpet after 17 years of guitar playing, since I can not take private lessons these days, I keep watching your videos. I don't understand why you have so few views for these wonderful series of lessons! :)

I just got a Xeno as a step up from my YTR-2320. Such a beautiful horn!

I didn’t even know the main tuning slide was a slide until about 3 months ago maybe, and then I couldn’t use it because it is stuck. At least I know I can tune pretty alright just with my mouth though haha. I will take it to get fixed eventually
I knew about the other slides so I moved them occasionally but never actually used them. I also learnt about alternate fingerings really recently and also how to oil valves properly. I am very surprised by the fact that I have survived failing to look after my instrument for years

I've played trumpet in marching band before but I don't know trumpet is tuneable holy cow,so that's what those slidy thing was for,i thought you take that off to easily cleaning the condensation inside the trumpet.the coach doesn't mention anything about tuning.

Hello sir! Thanks for the lesson. I'm struggling to get some notes in tone.. especially indeed the G and C.. i don't have that slide on my trumpet. Does it means it sucks badly?

What would one do if your trumpet is very out of tune, and no matter what you do, it stays out of tune?

I am a beginner trying to learn on my own. I play a number of other instruments so I do understand music. I have tried to use a chromatic tuner to get the right notes but I am always one note below (trying to blow a G and get an F). Any suggestions?

It’s because the trumpet is a Bb instrument. Your tuner is showing you concert pitch

How can I tune it if I only have my right arm? I do not have an idea how to tune my trumpet if i am left arm amputee.

You may be able to find a good instrument maker / repair shop that could install a special trigger for you. Also, look up Jimmy Burke, quite possibly the most famous one-armed trumpet/cornet player of all time!

Dear Dr Shook. I have your brand of Bb trumpet. With the main tuning slide not extended, my horn plays all notes about 1/4 tone flat, when the concert pitch is A443. Any suggestions to remedy this?

Without hearing and/or seeing you play, it is hard to tell exactly what is going on. Feel free to send me a video of you playing and I'll let you know what I think!
