John, acidic (as of lemon, acid tongued) Paul, sweetness (a taste of honey) George, spice (of the orient, the far east - and 'peppery' ) Ringo, salt (salt of the earth) All the elements of flavor in an ideal recipe. McCartney means 'art' 'hero' and 'bear.' Paul means 'little.' So Ursa (bear) minor(little) -- home of the North Star - by which we orient and know the way. My first album in my life given to me from my mother in 1970 I was 9 year's old... God bless you Mama I miss you RIP. THIS WAS AND STILL IS ONE OF THE BEST MUSICAL COMPOSITION OF ALL TIME. I would compare it to Mozart or Vivaldi...
!967 I was 8 years old and the Beatles were my favorite group, and this jam was a very funky cut that sent me marching into R&B . They are still in my top 5 bands of all time.
They wouldve known if they weren't so damn high!!! This album is when they were burning out creativity wise from the stress of being a Beatle and the increased use of psychedelic drugs. I absolutely loved their music in the Can't buy me Love era. They lost me at Abbey Road!! I am the Walrus?? WTF!! THEYstarted putting out shit toward the end, and everyone blames Paul. He STILL sounded like a Beatle, whereas John was just protesting everything and worshipping Yoko!! George left his heart in India, and Ringo just played drums to it all. If anyone else wrote that kind of music when just starting out, the album would never sell let alone get radio play!! But its the Beatles...they can't write bad songs ,cause.... they're the Beatles! IMHO their best songs were everything off the "red" album 1962-66. Yes snippets of the 1967-70 era were okay such as Penny Lane,Lady Madonna, Golden slumbers medley which Lennon called garbage. Notice these are all Paul's songs!! The A side of the Abby Road album was garbage, save for Here Comes the Sun. Something was one of George's best songs. The End
A follow up to my own post. After watching many interviews with the 2 remaining Beatles, Paul has ALWAYS taken the high road when asked about the Beatles breakup. Citing business issues as the main reason and band member issues as the least. However, in several recent interviews, Paul flat out states it was John ; " There's no doubt about it, it was John". All4 had at some point "quit" ,walked out and eventually came back. When their former manager Brian Epstein died, the neat dressed. fab four "bubble gum" music died with him. The change in their style was so abrupt, if the DJ and album didn't say the Beatles name , you wouldn't think it was The Beatles. Paul still sounded like himself, but John was never satisfied with his voice and requested the sound engineers to manipulate his voice to fit the song. Think Tomorrow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields, Come Together, The Walrus. If you strip off the processing, it sounds like nasal casual voice John. He hated that, so his processed voice became the sound we identify with. George just sounded like a watered down Paul. John's music was no longer the " fun" Beatles sound, but now protest and Yoko inspired material was it! Of course this affected sales The boys also delved into fashion sales which was a financial disaster. Internally, the boys were feeling pressure from management, fans, retail outlets, and more. They all wanted higher profits and the Beatles were so overwhelmed with the stress that they were all soaring off in different directions musically. Paul tried to keep the band in check like Brian would have. The other 3 were woo'ed by Alan Klein, who sought to buy the rights to their entire anthology. He offered 20% of the Beatles take ,which was very hefty in late 60s. Paul was trying to convince them to say no. The 3 members wanted to take the deal. There was much turmoil in their lives, John just had enough and thought 20$ was a good deal and he accepted. He later came in and said I'm out....bye! He WAS the leader and co- founder. Now,officially the Beatles were over. They were bought out, sold out,and got out!! Paul was the most successful post breakup. John didn't stop his protest crap and yoko ono weird shit until his last album which sounded like John rediscovered the old days again. 1980 wouldve been a great time to reunite the Beatles. Think of the music that could've been made with modern era synths vs. hiring an actual orchestra! . We will never know what could've been!
@@MAR-pj7pq Yes, indeed their music from the start of their career is the best. Their turning point began with the album Rubber Soul. It was the first album influenced by drug use during the writing. Most notable, Bob Dylan got them into Marijuana and uppers and downers. Not to be the sole source of influence, but the trip to India is what really affected their song writing. They were meditating while smoking Marijuana and experiment with LSD. John was affected by these drugs the most. He " enjoyed " the " ride" while under the influence. He wrote songs that were WAY out there! The others heard his material and were concerned about his behavior and his music. George was influenced by the sound of Sitars ( those long neck Indian guitar like instruments), that he wrote material using them instead of traditional guitars. He sounded nothing like the early Beatles either!! Paul....Paul, he just relaxed and went with the flow, smoking pot and tried LSD for the first time. In my opinion, he was the least affected by drug use musically. He experienced the LSD effects and also wrote songs influenced by it. They were not as weird as John's songs, but still not the songs we know and loved. He was into Avant - Garde stuff, and using sounds made by tapping a glass bottle, shaking a shaker of salt, Zither sounds ( google Zither). However he incorporated these sounds into music with a still happy feeling. Think O bla di,O bla day, Day Tripper, and material from Revolver on up. Paul said in an interview with British TV, that the song Got to Get You Into My Life was about his love and " craving" for Marijuana!! This shocked me because the lyrics sounded like he was singing about a woman he had strong affection for; not an inanimate object like Marijuana cigarettes!! Paul had a gift for writing, but he seemed to keep his drug use under " wraps" music wise. In my opinion, Penny Lane was his best song near the end of their career. It was a song of reminiscing the environment of his home life. It was not drug influenced like Strawberry Fields was for John. Penny Lane was a very good song with wind instruments and strings. It all meshed together to make it a classic song !! Very happy and upbeat, as if, you lived there, the song was a walk along the street; yet Paul made the mundane sights seem larger than life. John's song Strawberry Fields, from the start, lyrics wise was the exact opposite of Penny Lane. The first words " Let me take you down" ....the song is now set up for a depressing mood. CUZ,IM going to....Strawberry Fields, nothing is real. Great start to negative thoughts, and " nothing to get hung about ". This could be a simple lyric meaning to not get over involved in thought, but at the same time get hung about could literally mean hung as in execution! John was very sad / depressed and couldn't enjoy life. It was becoming more and more apparent in his lifestyle and music. The Beatles Get Back video shows footage of the guys practicing and John looked like he was enjoying himself with the guys, goofing off as he used to, and really getting into the music. Abbey Road was the least liked album by me. It was not their best material at all. Side 2 was all Paul's stuff never finished but made into 1 giant medley. Overall it wasn't bad, but the first side was John's weird material like " polythene Pam and mean Mr. Mustard. The best from that album was Here Comes the Sun written and sung by George. It seemed like John didn't care anymore and it was obvious in his input to this last album. He, himself, called the album "garbage". There is a documentary on RUclips that states that John sold his soul to the devil in return for 20 years of fame wishing he could be even more popular than Elvis. The video elaborates by tracing the early days as a band, and nobody really reacted like they did AFTER John sold his soul. The music was transformed to what we know today, and girls just went hysterical over the band. As they wound down their 10 year career and ended, John was now married to Yoko ono and this new solo band was not a big hit. It capitalized off his Beatles fame, but was NOTHING like their music. He made 3 albums including his last,Double Fantasy in 1980. He was murdered shortly after the albums release. 20 years after the Beatles came to fame. 1960-1980 is 20 years. If you believe that John did sell his soul, the devil came to collect on time! Search RUclips for this video.
i really had to dig to find a version of this song where comments were allowed. im listening to this at 6am having stayed up well past bedtime and the fact this song can bring me to tears almost 60 years after it's release is a testament to this band. as a musician i feel like every band and artist including myself are asking questions with our music , and yet here are the beatles, providing the answer, half a century ago.
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band song is mind-blowing, 2. on the second one; I have goosebumps listening to harmonies by the three young Beatles voices
Happy Birthday Ringo Star born on July 7, 1940. He is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who achieved international fame during the 1960's as the drummer for The Beatles. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringo_Starr
I can still remember the moment I first heard these songs from this GOAT album. I was 10 years old & a massive Beatles fan. One of my brothers or a friend brought it over to our house after buying it. I was immediately blown away. Everything had changed..
You can be fired from your job...have a argument with your woman .. get a speeding ticket...etc just get in your car and blast the beatles! It's the best medicine there is!!!!
Dang! These songs absolutely brings great memories being a little dude in the late 60s. My cool hippie babysitters gals were always rocking the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Kinks, The Doors, The Zombies, and all the great bands from that era 😁

A lot of Radio stations played this duo when the LP first came out in the summer/autumn of ‘67. I think it made #12 in my town in FLA. I was never the biggest Beatles fan but the fact that an LP cut made the top 20 in so many places is a testament to both their genius and success in those days.
A just like to share this,R.I.P. dad and he painted this album cover on the chimney breast, believe and I wish I'd got a photo but in my heart and head forever, lucky Boro FC
Name any song after 1980 that is as good as this.......With A Little Help was written in the back of a limo on the way to the recording studio by John and Paul.......for Ringo to sing
Sgt Pepper was pretty much the album that made Brian Wilson have his notorious meltdown plus the mixed reception of Pet Sounds at the time. "Heroes and Villains" did not help.
I was in Vietnam the central Highlands. When I heard this song for the first time. Now I'm a retired Army Staff Sergeant E6. With 20 years service. Funny thing about values... To give up everything doesn't leave me in distress. It leads me to joy. Unfulfilled hope makes life interesting and wonderful. Like always comin' round the mountain and running up the hill. I can't say why. Because it just is

@@gvgv3515 Fully agree, never cared for the "psychedelic" era of The Beatles aside from a few songs. Their greatest songs were their early material.
Paul said in an interview with British TV, that the song Got to Get You Into My Life was about his love and
" craving" for Marijuana!! This shocked me because the lyrics sounded like he was singing about a woman he had strong affection for; not an inanimate object like Marijuana cigarettes!! Paul had a gift for writing, but he seemed to keep his drug use under
" wraps" music wise. Search RUclips for this video.
the sound track of my life!! Literally!!♥️🎸🎹
i really had to dig to find a version of this song where comments were allowed. im listening to this at 6am having stayed up well past bedtime and the fact this song can bring me to tears almost 60 years after it's release is a testament to this band.
as a musician i feel like every band and artist including myself are asking questions with our music , and yet here are the beatles, providing the answer, half a century ago.
2:01 I love the Billie Shears introduction. Joe Cocker is great and all, but the original has that magical touch which only The Beatles can create.
I prefer Paul McCartney over Billy Shears. It's a shame Paul died so young
I believe you mean to say
*_B I L L Y S H E A R S !_*
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band song is mind-blowing, 2. on the second one; I have goosebumps listening to harmonies by the three young Beatles voices
Obra maestra de cuatro muchachos que cambiaron una época, en todo, a partir de los Beatles todo fue mucho mas colorido, genial.
Y del LSD.🤯🤯😆😆😆😆
The peak of pop, simply.

@@theplushkingoftsumtsum785 If you're going to be that way maybe you should call him Sir Richard Starkey
Along with Yesterday this album was their masterpiece with no doubts.
She Said, She Said is their finest moment 👍🏼
id also include abbey road melody as a masterpiece
Yesterday was entirely the work of McCartney and George Martin .
@@yellowjackboots2624 Revolver will always be my all time favorite Beatles album, maybe even my all time favorite album of any band.
Abbey Road and Revolver are my favs :)
I can still remember the moment I first heard these songs from this GOAT album. I was 10 years old & a massive Beatles fan. One of my brothers or a friend brought it over to our house after buying it. I was immediately blown away. Everything had changed..
The beatles were magic, thank you God!
You can be fired from your job...have a argument with your woman .. get a speeding ticket...etc just get in your car and blast the beatles! It's the best medicine there is!!!!

The Beatles are so good everyone argues about what their best album was.
The Beatles are so good that only 10% of their best songs are on THIS their best album.
Wild honey pie best song
Indeed. Genesis and Earth Wind & Fire have that same "problem".
The beatles are so good that even if I'm listening to them for about 30 years they make my jaw drop
Abbey road
that "billy shears!" it's just the best transition that i ever heard
Two masterpieces is a paramount treasure to the Beatles lovers
Dang! These songs absolutely brings great memories being a little dude in the late 60s. My cool hippie babysitters gals were always rocking the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Kinks, The Doors, The Zombies, and all the great bands from that era 😁
A masterpiece one of the greats of all time no debating

The fucking intro background audio in sgt peppers so beautiful like something is coming up and get ready! Revolutionary album!
This is the best album ever made from a musical standpoint arguably by the best Band of all time. Culturally it was presented in the Summer Of flower power hippies ........
Thanks for putting them together, as intended.
Sucks when they put one up without the other.

The best album for me
A lot of Radio stations played this duo when the LP first came out in the summer/autumn of ‘67. I think it made #12 in my town in FLA. I was never the biggest Beatles fan but the fact that an LP cut made the top 20 in so many places is a testament to both their genius and success in those days.
Excelente interpretación de la música del grupo más grande y famoso del mundo y la más influyente son los BEATLES

Greatest rock band
Name one song from 2000 onwards that is anywhere close to this
Name any song after 1980 that is as good as this.......With A Little Help was written in the back of a limo on the way to the recording studio by John and Paul.......for Ringo to sing
Damn, i see where Brian Wilson was overwhelmed with screaming and distortion. Nirvana picked it up 20 years later.
Sgt Pepper was pretty much the album that made Brian Wilson have his notorious meltdown plus the mixed reception of Pet Sounds at the time. "Heroes and Villains" did not help.
