    The beauty of this play call was the slow realization of it even having the slightest possibility of being a lateral(kudos to Theismann for holding back) to the realization that it was, without a doubt, a lateral pass. It was this game that really propelled the NFL and broadcasters to get as many cameras on the field as possible...

    • @lovett.da.j
      @lovett.da.j Год назад +3

      @georgepeterson5030 Месяц назад

      @@lovett.da.j It only looks like a forward pass because of where Wycheck and Dyson were standing, which doesn't actually matter. It's about the position of the ball, not the position of the players.
      Look at the motions they make.
      The furthest forward point on Wycheck's body is the arm holding the ball.

      Yeah imagine having a QB who is winning a lot and then it's playoff time and they go "yeah, let's bench him for the other guy." It's like benching Brady or any QB for the backup no one has heard of. I did some reading on it and apparently the owner of the bills, Ralph Wilson, disliked Flutie because he ran the ball. Then Wilson saw Johnson light up the colts when they rested Flutie for the last game of the season since they had clinched their spot, but the colts had also clinched their #2 seed so it was a meaningless game, it may as well have been a preseason game but even less important. Thought Rob should start the playoffs based on that. They even traded heavily for Johnson when he wasn't even proven to be a franchise QB was the worst part since they gave the Jaguars a 1st and 4th round pick for him.

    3:02 Wycheck makes a surprisingly good pass in spite of the fact he doesn't grip the ball on the seams, which is understandable given that it was a very tense situation and not a whole lot of time to think about proper football throwing etiquette.
