Here I am YET again, getting my Warpaint fix... this performance soothes my soul when I need it most. Love you Warpaint!
My favorite part is at 6:34 where there's silence and you can hear how heartbreaking the bass in this song is. What a perfectly haunting break. I'm so happy this version exists. I've been a fan for over 10 years and there's nothing modern day that really compares to this band in this particular genre. They're perfect.
I think I understand you. There is something amazing, but almost undefinable, about how Warpaint delivers their songs. Why are they so heartbreaking? I have only known them for less than two years. They are not showy, not flashy, but they are not reticent... I guess I will just enjoy them, perhaps the answer/explanation will come sometime later.
This concert is one my all time favourite live performances. I dont care if people dont get it. It was on my last ipod- I actually bought this live download video for like 10 bucks! Now its online 13 tears (y) later
You nailed it on all counts! :)
Here I am again, getting my Warpaint fix... "Majesty" is magic to me, especially this Rough Trade Session version ❤️
"Especially" this session! Outstanding!!!
Whoever mastered the sound and recorded this set up is a mystical majestic MASTER!! This is quality on top of quality, top shelf, first class, not coach.
indeed
I still think about the quality of this recording, and not to mention it IS the bond between players that night that just fucking ..I'm here like ...a lifetime layer (t)
Thank to John Frusciante from RHCP ;)
I agree. I love this version.

This is what I miss most about art school... talented artistic women that have the confidence to put themselves out there. Love this band!
Jenny's bass lines are always so "trippy", amazing bassist, amazing band
@@Σατανας666 yeah it dose cause if you don't see that she plays it off time on propose you have serious issues. And what is the problem with playing same notes and octaves? It's only about the feeling and pleasure it gives, and it gave me a lot ! Way more than a lot of "scales masturbators".
@@Gaenico I have very little idea what you mean, but then I do not know music. Could you explain? [If you don't care to, that's fine.]
Emilie's harmonies on the guitar with this reverb sound are just fantastic
I can't believe I've been listening to Warpaint for 10 years! I think Stella is one of the best rock drummers and she and Jenny Lee make this one of the best rock bands of this era.
... one of the best rock bands ever. Fixed it for you.
Warpaint is one of the few bands I put on sound-cancellation earphones to listen to.
The first time I watched these sessions a decade ago was the moment I realised I'd be listening to Warpaint for the rest of my life. Unparalleled brilliance, pure magic
Holding space for women, to hear their magic, how they chant together to heal, pound and tap the drum, and strum. We need these voices. 💜
They are so good and incredibly cool
These women are incredible. I hope Warpaint lives to be a thousand years old.
I wish these full Rough Trade sessions were on their Spotify. I'd play them over n' over n' over n'....well, you get the idea.
It's been a five years and I still love the Rough Trade sessions they did. I stumbled upon the playlist and I was hooked and now, 5 years, I still love their sound. I love all their albums. I think they are an excellent group of musicians who have amazing chemistry with eachother. Each one of them are my idol. I also wish I could be as badass of a bassist as Jenny. Warpaint is unique. Warpaint is different. Warpaint is Warpaint. I love it.
You know it
They helped me through the roughest times. I am indebted to them for the rest of my life..
Real musicans feel the other in playing! Its Feeling you need! That Made a good music! ...i know that as musican, If you Play with good one, you feel the other musican and you will be ONE with every music with every Instrument!!! All are one in that moment! And that Feeling you get is Not to wride in words, its so powerful, so unbeliveble ...time stand still and you are in a other world!!!!
Btw. Look how thay play! and Look on every one! you See that thay feel one the other! Thay Life Music, thay are in music and be one as band!!! Not everyone for himself! You can see that heavy feeling from every one and how thay feel the other Sounds! So thay get all in one! Music is a Secret that No one will ever understand! Its Not from this earth! Its timles and know Not room, it give no words for this! That feeling you get is so... I dount can wride it in words! Not posible!!!

This version sounds so different from the album version, and it gives me such a different feeling. Just perfect live.
I prefer the this live version too! As you said "perfect"!
This version is so much better
they have a sound all their own. hauntingly good and like nothing else i've heard.
theyre the female modest mouse what you mean nothing else i've heard
Sad to know that they lost they magic after third album...
this song hits me to my core every single time, the lyrics are so simple yet so powerful and i could listen to this a thousand times and never get tired of it.
I've no idea how I missed this band for all these years, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting caught up.
Ditto. They are pretty spectacular.
this triggered emotions Ive never felt before. Absolutely beautiful
Man I wish this whole session was an album! Its soo good!!!
You’ve got the best drummer and bassist laying it down while hypnotic vocals and circular counter melodies on guitar add such a sweet layer to it. Love it!
yeah. not music theroy type girls.
or so i hear
@@markh1063 Not sure what you mean. Could you explain?
That sort of desolate bass/lead call and reply hasn't been seen since the Bunnymen's "Heaven up Here" album. Though The XX could do that as well, but Warpaint have far more vocal firepower than the XX.
Theresa, I adore your face, as I adore the faces of Stella, Jenny, and Emily. More importantly, though, I adore your songwriting, your voices, your musicianship, and your commitment to each other (well over a decade together, now). The world is so much better off, with all of you in it.
Outstanding performance and whoever did the audio mix deserves a gold medal.
Yeah and the guy who did the album needs to be fired .
He totally missed the nuances of this group.
EP. Expertly mixed by John Frusciante (courtesy of the link at the top)
Damn straight.
For real these trade sessions sound the best of anything else I've heard
@Little Kobold He's Theresa's ex I believe !
I love this version! Obsessed w the bass guitar. Her voice...so delicious
I’m in tears. Beautifully heartbreaking.
A friend introduced me to this band about a month ago. I can’t believe I missed this...
I’m melting into my sofa in awe right now.
I am about the same, but better late than never. I am grateful I found them, however late.
My favorite song is Beetles...Elephant...Melting...Majesty...Burgundy...
...Undertow...Baby...Stars...Common Blue...
I heard this for the first time in 2016. I was at work alone in my office, and my husband was away for months. This hit me hard, and it still hits me just as hard 5 years later to hear it.
THE BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER
A true musical masterpiece !
I want to shake this song's hand and thank it for existing.
The talent oozes out of these four artistes. Together they are indeed sublime and the production on this track is exceptional.
Thanks for not writing "these four ladies"... they are all beautiful women, but that's not really the point.
@@johnthorne4093 Then why did you make it a point with your comment ?
I can hear the Cure and Radiohead in this song. Just amazing.
exactly what i thought..R. Smith's daughters!!
I just stumbled on these videos, never heard this band before, but pretty much instantly hooked and bought all their albums within 24 hours lol. Wow. Perfect gorgeous soulful bluesy almost gothy sound and the most addictive vocal harmonies.
Haha that's exactly what I do when I discover an artist. Get obsessed with their work
Four fantastic musicians at their best. As good a live performance as there is anywhere.
I've been playing this on repeat in my car for the last few days...how can you not fall in love with these gals?
I dont think there is anyone who hasn't
@@holloify_tensa_zangetsu
Gives the feel of being right there in the room. This song and lyrics are magic. Theresa’s voice is elegant. This is where it’s at!
I love this song so much more than the original. You can feel this so much.
Adilene Joselin What is the original song?
+Angela SaEs The original is the studio version on the album
@@guachuguachumiau .... idiot, can you read???
Live Session recording is mostly better than Studio recording!, In studio thay do to much on the Signal way and Mixed it often sadly death! To "clear" not in good way (that voice must be clear!, Like the guitars), to many eq, to les reverb, to far away from other Instruments (Isolation in bad style) to les room (live have so good roomsounds) that live feeling is also Important!!! And many other fails in recording/mixing ...its often a fail from the producer and soundengeunier!!! On many Studio records left the feeling, naturaly and room! The record must made from real musican thay know what thay do, meen Not the group, meen the recording guys who sit in the regieroom! That Here is a Mix of Album studio recording and live recording, its named studio- sessionrecording! ...but the band must be also good! Without a good band you can Not made so good records live!, Warpaint is a good group, that can you hear in thay Songs and playing!, The “sing - Line" (singing with harmonies, rythm and time) is unbeliveble good!!!! I would be happy to record warpaint! ...im self a musican, Not only a soundengeunier or producer! ...my Philosophie is, record it natural and with room and Ana reverb! Thats simple a good way to record Bands! ...its a queston of Genre!, but thats the point you can use on moste style of music!!!! Finger away from the naturaly Signal and do only what you realy must du!!! (To high cymbals a bid eq down, that stuff!) If posible, Not use the eq and other effects who work on the clean Signal!!! Reverb, delay, room is a other Thing!!!
@@squiremuldoon5462 There is no "Majesty" on the Exquisite Corpse EP. musicbrainz.org/release/c72e09cf-8d9e-41b5-8c24-6199dc59ebb4
How have I only just now discovered them? They're amazing singers and musicians.
I discovered them like 20 minutes ago, don't feel so bad hahaha.
Time was, you could hear new acts on the radio. Like that'll ever happen again.
When I held your hand
When I held your hand
When I helped you
When I held your hand
You still went the other way and you wanted me to stay with my arms streching away
With my arms streching away
I couldn't stand that sight 'cause I adored your face
I adore your face
Could it be that I'm the same
Could it be I'm your mirror showing you all those things that you never wanted to face
So you let me slip away
You just watched me walk away
And I just have to ask, do you know your fate?
Do you know your fate?
Could it be that I'm your
Could it be that you are my majesty
When it all comes back
When it all falls into place
Could it be that I don't want it anyways
Could it be as sad as that?
There was a day we used to laugh
And I wanted you by my side
The perfect match
I want to understand
The perfect match
Could it be that I'm your
Could it be that you are my majesty
You could have been my king
You could have been my king
You could have been my king
geez imagine the heartbreak that would fuel those lyrics. lovelorn...
You don't want to know this heartbreak

Good lord I love that bass tone, 80's chorus/warble. Perfection.
Absolutely beautiful song! Listen to it over and over again
After 10 years, remains the best version of this song in my opinion! Love that drums break and return followed by the bass on 4:40 !
I only discovered this incredible band by accident a few weeks ago.
Some truly amazing songs, I am really enjoying discovering the back catalogue.
Noticed they started a while back, so was unsure is they are still going.
Totally delighted to see they are touring next year and they are playing in Glasgow Scotland, i will be there to see and hear such fantastic talent.
I used to listen them when I was 14... Now I'm 24 and this still continues to be one my favorites thing ever!
@@mikael7570 I'M 60! but I love and appreciate great music, I cant wait to see the band live.
I'm going to buy a few Warpaint cds this weekend
Late reply but hope you enjoyed the albums and got to see them last year. I started listening to this band in 2007 when I was 33. Gonna be 49 in a couple weeks. Love their earlier stuff but I'm really digging the ambient, jazzy, maybe more sophisticated sound from their more recent stuff. It seems like their vocals have gotten even better and there is a lot more attention to finer details and spacing (we have bands like Joy Division to thank for emphasis on spacing, although i'm sure Jazz and Classical played a bigger part through the centuries overall.) Theresa seems to be mastering the spacing and it really allows Emily's vocals to shine in songs like "Biggy" and "Hard to Tell You." I only mention Theresa & Emily regarding their vocals & guitar work b/c the bass & drums from this band are world class in the alt rock world and speak for themselves, and sometimes overshadow the brilliant guitar-work. Even when it's not "brilliant," they just make it work. Anyway, time flies/good music never dies.
Wow I've been listening to the song for nine years and still love it just as much as the first time I heard. Has accompanied me on a lot of journey's in my life
Stella's drumming-- so on point and grooving as always.
4:20 gives me chills everytime...so beautiful.
The bass makes this song along with the impeccable vocals.
Man, Emily's guitar line at the end is so fucking cool.
Theresa's guitaring is also awesome..both compliment each other
they compliment and complement each other :)
june's leave i know, right- at 6:55 when Emily kicks in, that is classic roland jc120 true chorus sound! same amp cure/ cult / metallica (clean) uses- love it
Love how the bass is loud here
Found Warpaint today. Soooo beautiful 😢❤
goddesses great reinvention/introduction of wailing chant singing. How can you say " they can't sing or play guitar?(below) The simpliest things are the hardest to do = expertise. They are fabulous and many males wish they could sing with such range, depth and passion. this group is fabulous
Love this so much more than the studio recording. Each to his own but I reckon this has so much emotion
five years and i still loving this version.
Ohhhhh Zeus! that fucking bass!!
Animus nocendi no flooding wwhat so ever
YES!
Jenny is God.
Her basslines weigh yottagrams.
everything about this song gives the chills to my spine
Same! Haunting...
This is what talent sounds like.
sure if it 's gay, or your gay and into women being gay. Gay Pride
Yes, if by talent you mean Cat Power & Sharon Van Etten.
Voices are good...instruments are extremely basic. No complexity at all....just a few chords
I have a crush on WARPAINT, both traditional style crush AND musical. The crush is on the whole band- I don't want to leave anyone out. I realize this technically detracts from my appreciation of them as a serious musical act but I regard them in this way as well, wholly separate from my pathetic crush 😍
Every fucking song I watch is a fucking masterpiece holy fuck how have I never heard of this band before. This is what music is about, expressing emotion at the deepest level, at the very core of the human soul.
The baby shoes on Stella's kit ♡
This!! Now this is real music and talent.
this one of those bands i thought i'd only ever be able to imagine. its like they where formed just for me
I love the intricate sounds they build together to make their songs and the way they sing with an echo
I just found this band not even ten minutes ago, and I just love their harmonies and how they switch up singers every song. It really gives each song more of a uniqueness.
I fucking love Warpaint! Amazing band with brilliant musicianship! Their harmonies are ethereal.
first time hearing this song.....that bass player is badass
This session produced the greatest live videos that I know of!
It never gets old! I love it 🌼🌸
Warpaint you girls are stellar. No superficial thing can change or hide it....Much Love.
After watching this video, i'm 150 % in love with Theresa Wayman, she's amazing :)
this is so beautiful
my favorite version forever and always :)
I have never been so attracted to a scar before, until Theresa Wayman... God that voice.
and Jenny's hoodie just makes me wanna bus adidas now.
Love this song love the instruments and the crew singing
My dog and I just listening
i think warpaint are now my fav band ever.they are amazing.
The drummer's cymbals are gorgeous.
This sounds like The Cure, soooo much!!! I love both bands. I've been to Warpaint's show yesterday and it was the best show ever, srsly. Thanks you so much Warpaint!!!
Love from Brazil.
Me too! Love the cure
The guitar and bass are excellent.
I found them in a rehab. Man did it make me feel somthing. I haven't felt in awhile.
This should have been the album version.
The album version is my least favorite song of theirs. This version is my second favorite song of all time.
+Mark Kremer This scalated really quickly, but I almost agree.
I couldn't agree more! that "cure"-ish version on the album is really good, but OH MUH GAWD this version is sooooo good!
I like this version a lot more, even better live at Rock Werchter... Love the idea of an always changing palette for live/recording
This is how this song should sound. The programmed loops on the album version are just a big distraction, and Stella's drumming doesn't even come into play for the first couple of minutes on the record. The album version is such a disappointment compared to this.
Such a beautiful song
Favorite Warpaint song
la mía también
One of my favorites.... I wonder why they never play it.
um WHAT? i've been a warpaint fan for 7 years and i never paid attention to this song until i saw this version. this is magical.
Always so amazed by these musicians. Got to see them open for MMJ at Red Rocks. Love from Eugene.
I'm in love with this song!!!
My God, they are great!!! The whole band is really good but the drummer is a killer
There are 4 truly great drummers now: Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine, The Last Internationale, and others; Max Weinberg of the E Street Band; Joel Amey of Wolf Alice; Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint.
Superb. I can hear The Cure within!
Drawn back over and over to watch and listen......Beautiful!
Jenny Lee is the Warpaint secret weapon.
I love the nonchalant drum fill at 3:05
Sick. I think I love this song more than elephant. Its always great when a group has such a lineup even it comes to singing. UNFFFF
perfect song ! love her voice ♥
Just discovered them. I'm speechless
This songs got me feeling feelings. 🙆🏻🙆🏻🙆🏻
you call your penis 'feelings'?! O_o
couldnt agree more
For me a great discovery.
Fresh music, fresh sound.
They are really good.
A band being a band.
Not that radio music.
The bass player is the shit! She is even playing a Rickenbacker!
Good music!
Just jealous, but she moves better than any bass player I have seen.
Elas arrasam !! ❤ They rock
Ethereal... love this, "Exquisite"
Sehr sehr gute Musikerinnen.... Hochtalentiert... Jede der vier....... einer meiner Lieblingsbands... Gruß aus Vienna, Austria
