Is this a HST V8 from the X class and by extension the infamous Co-Bo?

I think a more permanent/solid exhaust pipe may have to be installed. :D

Can you tell us more about this engine (model, year built, where did it come from?, tech specs)?

Great to see your first smokey start up. Your engine (130541) was first sold to the Anglo American Oil Co on 31 July 1940! - Info obtained from records held at the Anson Engine Museum. Looking forward to see it run again.
