360° camera experience is the worst thing I can ever imagine as a pro wrestler, yes it sure does elevates audience's experience. But, what about my move calls? Especially with the amount of modern camera work you have to protect your calls in ring is hard & now if scene goes 360° it's a nightmare. Somethings are great when left as it is. Very knowledgeable video sir, feels good to be back at your channel after a week break 🙂
Glad to have ya back! Yes, 360 degree capture would add an entire cavalcade of new challenges...which is not to say that it's uninteresting. I don't know if I would want to perform under those conditions though!
Do you feel it is possible for darks matches to serve multiple purposes at the same time? For example; can a match be both a warm up, tech run, AND tryout all at the same time? Or would you end up with a situation where none of the desires goals were accomplished fully (someone in a tryout situation not wanting to slow down to allow the technical staff to calibrate equipment/troubleshoot)?
Ugh, I remember when 70% of matches you'd see on Raw, Superstars, etc were enhancement matches. Those matches have their place, but imagine being there while they're recording two or three weeks of raw and almost the entire time is just one guy squashing another guy. Sounds like a rough time.
@@TilWeMakeIt Hahaha, I was, in fact, being very generous! I didn't want to be accused of exaggerating, but I bet you could count on one hand the amount of "real" matches in a given month, 4 episodes, shown on Raw in 1995. One of the reasons why I was more of a Nitro guy until very late. They had Jushin Thunder Liger vs Brian Pillman on their first episode, as the very first match!
Well...there are conflicting stories on the origin of the word "kayfabe" during the Carnival Era of pro-wrestling. It's one of those things we'll probably never know definitively, given there's no one still alive to offer an authoritative take.
Well, there's no perfect formula for that. What you think of as a 5 Star Match may not be what I think of as a 5 Star Match. It's extremely subjective!
AEW dark match isn’t an audition it’s to make there current superstars win rate go up. Audition match you actually have a match that requires you to do more than just job out. And the jobbers get there name out there so they can use it in Indy’s idk if that an audition
Are you serious? Your typical pre-NXT WWE tryout matches, unless you were a known name (for example the time I saw them giving Psichosis a tryout in San Jose), were almost always the unknown guys jobbing (sometimes hard) to WWF/E stars. Just ask Mick Foley.
I think Asuka was one of the best wrestlers in the world when this match went to the ring, and she really didn't need to be elevated. So you could come to the conclusion that Charlotte winning accomplished more, beating Asuka elevated her.
Keep up the great work Quack. Not enough people focus on these types of aspects of the sport.
Right on, thanks for that!
Great video and nicely explained!
Thanks Sean!
That guy in red at 4:18 is amazing both inside and outside the ring, a lovely dude with a pure passion for the industry
I couldn't agree more!

Love it bro!
Thanks Andy!

I do think they can be multi-purpose, just as you detailed here Chris. Thanks man!
👀 good thing I always check the comment section before leaving any such informative video. 🙏

I think 70% is generous of you, Jackgar...I'd say more like 85% or 90% at those mid-90s TV tapings!

Is there a term from older wrestling times that you just don't understand, or don't know how it got its meaning?

@@Retrorevelations well it’s not let I been there or anything 🤣 I should know
The match with asuka and Charlotte asuka should have won tbh nothing against Charlotte but asuka should have won
