I was there!:) Proud to have been the head cheerleader:)) Thanks for posting! Brings back some incredible memories! That crash stunt was impressive especially when viewed from the front. Thanks again!
I feel you are like a legend. A group of girls with very similar uniforms in Canada from 1989-1992 watched this Mater Dei routine and the 1988 and 89 Mater Dei over and over and over... Stayed up all night. Won provincials in Alberta a few times. Man. So many memories. Cheerleading is not what it used to be!!!
Oh my! I am from Canada and we watched Mater Dei over and over and over!!! Our uniforms were very similar and we wanted to be them!!!!! This is amazing. My little girls are just messing around and I wanted to show them what cheerleading used to be.... just different. More precise and a unique style of dancing, that wasn't the same as all the sexy (hahaha) dancing that you see now. Just love this. only 8 years late on the comment! Thanks Mater Dei. We won Provincials in Alberta (similar to State Champs) with inspiration and ya, basically copying you. hahaha.
BOO BOO KITTY BOO BOO KITTY....silly group of incredibly hard working fun kids. Miss Laura being in the mix of things but Kristen stepped up and so did Kevin. And the Crash Stunt / Pop up stunt is very nice from the front as well! Thanks for the upload! cheers dave m
Did they catch that double back basket ok 😳🥴 Lmaoo a lil scary to me but otherwise really impressive it’s amazing how cheerleading has changed. I started in 98 and graduated hs in 06. Then coached for many years. The bar gets raised significantly every year, taking that into account this routine is absolutely amazing.
She was fine but they had to show it from the side The same year acoed team threw a triple back. And they didn’t make finals. I coached that year. Good hard working fun group.
@brkingg - Santa Margarita HS used ‘Born to Hand Jive’ in their 1993 routine. They competed with two guys that year but were typically an all-girl squad and were also a Catholic HS from Southern California.

Y'all were awesome. We watched your routines every year for inspiration. Good times

This is that Chick-fil-A thing; right?
The one that they do every year; before the girls are ground up into chicken sandwiches.
I was a cheerleader at a nearby high school and I recorded this in real time on VHS and watched it at least 100 times!

Question...was Mater Dei the school that performed to ‘Born to Hand Jive’? I’ve for years tried to find that routine, but have never lucked out...
