George Michael singing Somebody to Love at the Freddy Mercury tribute is phenomenal!! He was the only artist that showed up 4-5 days in advance just to rehearse to get it right. All the other artists only did one day. He is an absolute LEGEND!!! George won 3 Ivar Novello songwriter awards. He is, to this day, the youngest artist to receive that award.
George and Elton were great friends. Elton had just come out of rehab and George was touring at the time. He asked Elton to join him for this performance and Elton was scared because he had not sung live sober in many years. He accepted and it turned out to be a number 1 world wide hit!
The best live performance I ever heard in person was George Michael singing Brother Can You Spare A Dime at Wembley Stadium in 1999. His voice was so strong and so pure that it just echoed around the whole stadium of over 70,000 people. Stunning.
I love all of this performances one of my favorites was Jesus to a Child, and I loved him sing in the Long winding road which wasn’t his it was Paul McCartney’s, but he sang it fantastically I love George Michael he will always be my favorite. There will never be anybody who matches to him in my heart.
That live performance on Pavarotti and friends of BCYSAD, is just EPIC. There are no words to describe the power and accuracy that George possessed all at the same time. It is so on display when he sings on P and Friends.
George Michael was the best singer there ever was and ever will be he will always be my favorite and I will love him. His voice just makes my heart happy. I love hearing him above anyone else. I completely disagree with the outfit. I think George Michaels was better, and his voice too George Michael always be the best. All I have to do when I’m having a bad day is listen to George Michael and it makes me happy inside. I will always love him the best he will always be my favorite. He definitely makes my heart happy. No one else can do that.
For me, George was the most talented, singer, songwriter, and producer of all time. He had the ability to convey his pain, his sorrow, his happiness through his music and the listener, if really 😂 could feel it to the depth of their soul. It’s no wonder he won in his lifetime so many awards and 12 of them I believe were songwriting awards. He didn’t have more than five studio albums and with those he managed to rack up over 125 million sold, which tells you the astronomical talent this man possessed. I’ve listened to several voice, coaches and analyzers cover George and yes, he was better live than in studio. I was fortunate to see him live, and I’m telling you he held the audience in the arena in the palm of his hands. His live voice was just unbelievable.
His mtv unplugged os also great to observe his master vocals, as well the concert of hope (which by the way was organized by the late Lady Di), all songs he sang that night were mesmerizing!
I'm just going to leave this right here: George won his first two Ivor Novello Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Most Performed Work with Careless Whisper. The Ivor Novello Awards are presented annually in London by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. George would go on to be nominated several other times. He won awards also in 1989, 1996 and 1997. George regarded winning his first Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter Of The Year in 1985 as one of the most significant achievements of his career. At the age of 21 he was also the youngest (at the time) recipient ever to win the award. Notably, he went on to win six Ivor Novello Awards and, to date still remains the only individual songwriter to have ever won their prestigious Songwriter Of The Year Award three times.
Our amazing man doing what he does best...singing live 💜 Give George's MTV unplugged session a look, you'll be blown away, plus the concert of hope, especially Killer/Papa was a rollin stone...fantastic and George looks like he's having sooo much fun 💜
My goodness boys, if you did not know, Bernie Taupin is Elton’s lyricist. He probably wrote 70 to 80% of the songs that Elton sang . Elton wrote the music . George wrote all of his songs, his music and produced and played 80% of the instruments for his catalogue. Very few did it all.
This was Elton’s first performance after coming out of rehab. George asked him to do this to ease Elton back into performing now that he was sober. Oh, and Tim Rice wrote the Lion King lyrics for Elton to put music to. Another thing is that the manager for Queen was John Reid who was Elton’s manager and lover. Watch Rocketman. So much better than Bohemian Rhapsody and Taron Egerton sings for real all the songs in it.
Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics, and Elton composed the music. I was thinking just before you said it, we need an Elton John week! When I was a little girl and had no money I would call the radio station and request an Elton John song and when I heard them announce it I would hit record on my tape recorder and that's how I would get Elton John tapes. When I got older I bought the albums. If I had been at that concert I would have lost my shit when Elton came out! Love them both!❤
In my opinion - George Michael's best live performance is from the "Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert" where he sings "Somebody to Love" together with the rest of "Queen". All time Greatest voice! ruclips.net/video/kIb4gM84-o0/видео.htmlsi=JuwPkxZmY2HWp1NG
George was one of the best ever, he was good with Wham, but then he was incredible solo. For me live is always better than anything in the studio. He had great backup singers and was simply a perfectionist. Just watch "Killer/Papa Was a Rollin' Stone LIVE" or "Somebody to Love (The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert)"
This was 1991. GM’s “Cover to cover” tour. The first time they performed this one together was in 1985 - Live Aid. GM sang on Elton Johns “Nikita” and “Wrap her up”. Elton was on keys om Wham’s “The Edge of Heaven”. GM is a writer, producer and arranger of most of his songs. Elton John doesn’t write lyrics. He collaborates with his old friend Bernie Taupin, who writes the lyrics.
Wow, I have heard this song many, many times and somehow never twigged that was George Michael on the track with Elton. Amazing performance. I would love an Elton John Week, by the way, and how about a Queen week?!?!
George Michael wrote and produced all his music. His producing started with Careless Whisper, when he fired one of the most prolific music producers because he just didn't get it!!
That was a one off collaboration. George was on tour at the time and Elton joined him to record the duet. BYW George wrote, arranged and produced his own music. He also covered a few songs over the years.
You should watch George sing 'Somnebody to Love' at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Elton John wrote the music but Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics.
You really should watch Rocketman, it is a great movie! Verry different to the Bohemian Rapsody movie. Elton John was very much involved in it and Taron Egerton is fantastic in it
Hey guys, so I was hoping y'all would do a week 2 for MJB. These videos listed are a bit more storytelling/cinematic. I think you two would enjoy. 1. All That I Can Say 2. Deep Inside 3. Take Me As I Am 4. One ft. U2. 5. Whole Damn Year. All of em are dope. Love the channel btw, been on board with you guys a little over a year now. I always look forward to your reactions to some of our favorite artists. Also, I admire you guys examining of music videos-from fashion, jewelry, locations, etc. Not to mention, y'all are hilarious af frfr. But I hope you guys get around to checking out the list for week 2. Much love & God bless 🙏🏾 🫶🏾🤍 ..
George wrote music and lyrics. Elton only ever writes music. For me this is my favourite rendition of this song. Love George, but the one thing I didn't like was him being annoyed with Elton for doing The Lion king soundtrack.
George wasn’t annoyed with him. He was asked about it in a radio interview (I heard it), and he said he thought it was a wrong move for Elton because in his view Elton was better than that.

Their voices when they come together is angelic and heavenly

Freddie died a few months after this performance too. RIP.
Believe he specifically requested that song too
George and Elton were great friends. Elton had just come out of rehab and George was touring at the time. He asked Elton to join him for this performance and Elton was scared because he had not sung live sober in many years. He accepted and it turned out to be a number 1 world wide hit!

Also excellent at the Pavarotti & Friends concert
I agree with the song, although Pavarotti & Friends version is top notch!!
Yes, that live Pavarotti and friends performance was amazing!!
I love all of this performances one of my favorites was Jesus to a Child, and I loved him sing in the Long winding road which wasn’t his it was Paul McCartney’s, but he sang it fantastically

How do they not know George Michael is a great song writer! He literally does everything! He's one of the best producers ever too👌
George had such a wonderful voice . He is greatly missed
“I might cry!” Yes, all of us. George was the most soulful singer, ever. Exquisite.
George. You'll never be forgotten. ❤❤
His mtv unplugged os also great to observe his master vocals, as well the concert of hope (which by the way was organized by the late Lady Di), all songs he sang that night were mesmerizing!
Two gay music icons. Gives me chills. Freddie Mercury died a few months later that same year 1991. Imagine the THREE of them on stage singing this.
Im listening to music over 60 yrs this was one of the best performances ever, a phenomenal performance
.
George Michael wrote his songs Joe... the famous Careless whisper he wrote that song even the saxophone
And he was one of the best producers as well!
Yes and wrote the arrangements too.
It's the effortlessness for me 😅
One of the greatest singers of all time. He is recognized, but still underrated.
God, wish i was there ❤

This is a legendary performance of an Iconic Song! Outstanding! ❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏
Just pure talented 2 great singers!! Rip Georgios Kyriacos Panayiot!! You are missed but thank you for the great music!! ❤️🎵

They also had a bit of a falling out. It doesn't matter what George sings even it's covers of songs, he smashes it everytime
George wrote everything!
I love this collab!!❤❤ so beautiful!!🔥🔥🔥
Our amazing man doing what he does best...singing live 💜 Give George's MTV unplugged session a look, you'll be blown away, plus the concert of hope, especially Killer/Papa was a rollin stone...fantastic and George looks like he's having sooo much fun 💜
... and he was a smoker!!! He sounded like this every time I saw him, be it solo or with Wham!
A Wham! week would be great.

His 2 duets with Whitney and Aretha are amazing!! Hopefully you’ll react to them too! Loving this week so far! ❤
And les not forget with Patti and Mary JBlidge and the version one more try with Mariah
One of my fave live performances ever
In my opinion - George Michael's best live performance is from the "Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert" where he sings "Somebody to Love" together with the rest of "Queen".
All time Greatest voice!

I’s really fantastic, even the reherseal, which let David Bowie amazed.
Yes, absolutely! This should be in their top 5

King George and Sir Elton! ❤
I love this song and performance so much!
Wow, I have heard this song many, many times and somehow never twigged that was George Michael on the track with Elton. Amazing performance. I would love an Elton John Week, by the way, and how about a Queen week?!?!
I remembered playing this song in a loop after breaking up with my boyfriend. I cried buckets. lol
George Michael wrote and produced all his music. His producing started with Careless Whisper, when he fired one of the most prolific music producers because he just didn't get it!!
This is a solid amazing performance
I really liked the Elton movie. Elton said he liked it.
Taron Egerton is incredible in that, both acting and singing wise
A correction. George Michael was half English half Greek Cypriot. In the last years before his death he signed himself as “The singing Greek”!
That concert was from 1991
I Just Like and Subscribed. 🔥🔥🔥
Bernie Taupin writes Elton’s Lyrics
Simply incredible!
Elton survived them all
My fave live performance of all time. By anyone.

Yay boys, keep doing 80s and 90s! Boomers have taken over nearly every other Reaction site, so keep it real with Gen X and Millennials!
❤❤❤
I want a PanLand hat.
You really should watch Rocketman, it is a great movie! Verry different to the Bohemian Rapsody movie. Elton John was very much involved in it and Taron Egerton is fantastic in it

Now when I say George Michael is a better singer than Elton John.
Elton John week WHEN?
George wrote music and lyrics. Elton only ever writes music. For me this is my favourite rendition of this song. Love George, but the one thing I didn't like was him being annoyed with Elton for doing The Lion king soundtrack.
George wasn’t annoyed with him. He was asked about it in a radio interview (I heard it), and he said he thought it was a wrong move for Elton because in his view Elton was better than that.
You will like Rocketman.
It’s better than the Queen movie.
🌬️🤍
I sure hope #1 is “I Want Your Sex”. You can’t know George Michael without knowing I Want Your Sex.
George made the song his own, tbh. I love Elton, but George's voice was too good.
For me, George was the most talented, singer, songwriter, and producer of all time.
