I was in Yangshuo in 1999. It’s changed so much. Last time I was in Guilin was in 2000. So much of the city was under construction then. Can’t imagine what’s it like now.

Yes it's everchanging! Day by day Yangshuo grows larger. It will be totally different in another 20 years I'm sure. Guilin is simply enormous. We recently climbed the highest mountain in Guilin, Yaoshan and the city stretches from horizon to horizon

Love the idea and format but please take off the English subtitles and let people put them on as optional CC. It’s not immersion if I can read the English.

Hey Kevin. Yeah this is a problem we don't have a perfect solution for. We recently addressed a couple of ways to get around this in a recent video at 2:06 : ruclips.net/video/Q1nDKb_eWTY/видео.html
The difficulty is that not everyone watching our videos is as dedicated as you or as familiar with the subtitle controls. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

kinda surprised this video didn't generate massive amounts of traffic; it came out oh about 2 weeks before Wuhan hit the news.

Whenever I see taro 芋头 I always think of 唰冰进行曲 which has a VERY exaggerated 2nd tone on the 头, so I appreciate the reminder that it should be a flat tone. :D
I also might be careful with the definition for 好香 as I don't think I've ever used the English word "very fragrant" in regular conversation, but 好香 is used all the time by Chinese people to describe whatever they will eat when they can first smell it. I would translate it more as just "X smells good" or "smells delicious" because that's what I would replace it with in English.

Happy to help! (we just watched 挫冰进行曲 and it's funny/mad!) You're spot on about fragrant, it's something that comes up a lot in conversation around here (which is part of the inspiration for our name!). Ella in particular loves to use this word. When self translating in day to day speech, lots of English learners will use the word 'fragrant' as a direct translation though yes, a more natural way of speaking would be to use something like you've suggested.
