🐒 HE BUILT AN ILLEGAL CAR! MAZDA RX7 PANDEM REVIEW
RX7 Info
The Mazda RX-7 is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, rotary engine-powered sports car that was manufactured and marketed by Mazda from 1978 to 2002 across three generations, all of which made use of a compact, lightweight Wankel rotary engine.
The first generation of the RX-7, SA (early) and FB (late), was a two-seater 2 door hatchback coupé. It featured a 12A carbureted rotary engine as well as the option for a 13B with electronic fuel injection in later years.
The second generation of RX-7, known as the FC, was offered as a 2-seater coupé with a 2+2 option available in some markets, as well as in a convertible bodystyle. This was powered by the 13B rotary engine, offered in naturally aspirated or turbocharged forms.
The third generation of the RX-7, known as the FD, was offered a 2+2-seater coupé with a limited run of a 2-seater option. This featured a sequentially turbocharged 13B REW engine.
The RX-7 made Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list five times. More than 800,000 were manufactured over its lifetime
The third generation RX-7, FD (chassis code FD3S for Japan and JM1FD for the North America), featured an updated body design. The 13B-REW was the first-ever mass-produced sequential twin-turbocharger system to be exported from Japan,[16] boosting power to 255 PS (188 kW; 252 hp) in 1992 and finally 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) by the time production ended in Japan in 2002.
The chief designer was Yoichi Sato (佐藤 洋一, Satō Yōichi).[8] Another key designer was Wu-huang Chin (秦無荒), a Taiwanese automotive artist who also worked on the Mazda MX-5 Miata.[17]
In Japan, sales were affected by this series' non-compliance with Japanese dimension regulations and Japanese buyers paid annual taxes for the car's non-compliant width. As the RX-7 was now considered an upper-level luxury sports car due to the increased width dimensions, Mazda also offered two smaller offerings, the Eunos Roadster, and the Eunos Presso hatchback.
The sequential twin turbocharging system, introduced in 1992, was extremely complex and was developed with the aid of Hitachi. It was previously used on the exclusive-to-Japan Cosmo JC Series. The system used two turbochargers, one to provide 10 psi (0.69 bar) of boost from 1,800 rpm. The second turbocharger activated in the upper half of the rpm range, during full throttle acceleration - at 4,000 rpm to maintain 10 psi (0.69 bar) until redline.[18] The changeover process occurred at 4,500 rpm, with a momentary dip in pressure to 8 psi (0.55 bar),[19] and provided semi-linear acceleration from a wide torque curve throughout the entire rev range under normal operation.
Under high speed driving conditions, the changeover process produced a significant increase in power output and forced technical drivers to adjust their driving style to anticipate and mitigate any over-steer during cornering.[citation needed] The standard turbo control system used 4 control solenoids, 4 actuators, both a vacuum and pressure chamber, and several feet of preformed vacuum/pressure hoses, all of which were prone to failure in part due to complexity and the inherent high temperatures of the rotary engine.[19]
A special high-performance version of the RX-7 was introduced in Australia in 1995, named the RX-7 SP. This model was developed to achieve homologation for racing in the Australian GT Production Car Series and the Eastern Creek 12 Hour production car race.[20] An initial run of 25 cars were made, and later an extra 10 were built by Mazda due to demand.[21] The RX-7 SP was rated at 277 PS (204 kW; 273 hp)
Gianluca and his build "deserved to be displayed on RUclips". The amount of details that RX-7 has is incredible. I really hope he showed you the S14, you gotta love that car too. Great video 🙌🏼
Stunning car!! Thanks for sharing. Fantastic video too man, especially all the little detail shots interspersed with the interview. 👌
"I've boned women that weigh more than 250kg" 😂😂😂
Love good brap mobile.
Views need to quadruple man so crazy how RUclips does it’s thing
shit makes no sense, click bait with a cat picture and get 20M views lol
I love how he kept mostly OEM under the bonnet. I would be too scared to take a car like this out for a drive though.
As a FC owner myself, that is a masterpiece. Such a beautiful creation
Would you build a car you weren't able to drive? Let us know in the comment section👍 Hope you guys enjoy it
yes
No way never could understand it I be like you had everything and drove the s**t out of it it's mad to me this new social media cars
22B prodrive, you know the one.
Yeah but id still drive it🤫
Well where i live i could likely get away with it.
You can't technically ride electric scooters yet everyone does that lol and my car is illegal and i daliy drive it 😂
A gorgeous car with an incredible amount of details and work behind them. All blocked by road laws that are too restrictive here in Italy
Great video, Mr Monky. Really like the style.😎👍 The RX7 is stunning! Loving the EG Civic and R5 Turbo Raider.✌👌
Top class production and awesome RX7, thank you ML.
I'd too take this car out on business plates for Sundays!
1:48 stunning car!!
loved this upload mate
FC models are just cool AF imo
John bringing us top tier content same as always😳
Thanks Robin awesome car 👍
What a beautiful car, great vid 👍 u have another subscriber glad o found Ur channel
Car looks stunning i love the older rx 7 a stunning build i love the sound .
This has to be the best FC out there, what a beauty!
I have realised just after a while that this is FC - if I ever get a FC Mazda (ha ha ha, like hell I will be ever able to purchase one) then I will have the urge to make it this much wide and the way I see it, the Pandem kit is a must have - blast looking Mazda RX 7, a real beauty!
Mint looking car like super clean... uber uber nice! But from the max power days I'd rather all go the show, rather than the opposite.... even so the fit and finish reminds me of the carisma cars....another belter ml
complimenti Gianluca! buon lavoro 👍
Beautiful FC! That Pandem body kit looks so good on it too. Thanks to Gianluca and everyone involved for building this lovely RX-7 and to you for sharing it and it’s builder with us. Peace & keep the JDM love coming.
BTW, what’s that song playing at the end of the video?
Everything ok man
"The Italian way of life." AKa no freedom.... lol
Italy is the Country that you can do everything if you are lucky. The police can take away your car for only have a wrap and some wheels on it but sometimes, if you are lucky, they let you go if they see you drifting on the streets😂. If you have a flashy car you are targeted by the police 🤦🏻♂️
wasn't there an old uk video magazine called hardcore? feel like i got dvd's somewhere
Do you remember High Octane?
Favourite RUclipsr by far!! Love this stuff man!👌👌🌏
Ooohhh do love a rotary, lovely car that is 🤙 .....I think John is a bigger fan of triangle spinners than he lets on 🤣
Man loves a dorito 😂🤝 Much love Lee cheers for tuning in
What’s happened to Nessy and her cars
This is a thing of beauty, I'd give my right leg for that FC!!!
Why though, you'd be sacrificing your loud pedal foot? 😂🤷
@@Matty.Hill_87 my right leg doesn't work so well anyway, drive with the left, only if it's an auto 🤣🤣
Does anyone else get BMW M1 vibes from this
I hope I get to the point were I can have an fc even better if i can have 2 one with the pandem kit. Best kit for the fc out there
Beautiful car but was waiting for the john action tbh, nice lad and nice car. Understand why he doesnt let you drive haha
As someone who lives in a similar bs country, fuck all these countries that label cars built with more care, detail and thought than everything else as illegal. Especially that its stock power-wise.
Such a well presented car. Quality ML content.
The intro tune is quality, anyone know it? I can't find it...
same
Where have you been ML ? seems like your not really uploading much anymore , hope all is OK!
Very nice build, not a fan of the mirrors though. Cool owner too.
That dorrito looks stunning......
Every car that is not stock here in Italy it's illegal by law, that's a shame because us enthusiast are really unable to do what we want without the fear of getting our cars confiscated... And let's not talk about all the taxes that we have to pay to own one... Awesome video as always btw!
Is it not like Germany where mods are allowed, they just have to be TUV approved?
@@Jonathan_Doe_ no man, we can’t do anything… If you don’t want troubles you have to leave it stock.
@@deadpixel5297 Then why do Ragazzon make aftermarket exhausts in Italy, for a lot of Italian models of car then?
@@Jonathan_Doe_ because in the italian law there are a lot of "grey parts", in italy we say "when you got a new law, you'll find how to escape from it".
So with that homologation paper you can say that you changed that part because "it's like the oem one" but if the police has some suspects or whatsoever, they can take your car and send them to make a special MOT where every part of the car will be checked.
So, it's not easy at all, but really A LOT of people has "illegal" cars here, and i'm not talking about performance parts, but about wrong or dangerous, not safe, parts.
@@Jonathan_Doe_ some exhaust are legal to mount but you have to go trough a lot of “papers” to make it legal. And it’s not worth it in my opinion. Also a lot of other manufacturers make aftermarkets parts for cars and we mount them but we drive them knowing we have illegal cars. Like the guy in the video…
When I was 23 I used to work at Mazda UK in Kent (running an early FB as my daily) and I got to drive FC and MX5 when they were brand new cars. Absolutely loved them since. I remember Tunbridge Wells Mazda had a wide arched FB just sat in their workshops and have always wondered what happened to it? Especially as this was 1989/90 and they were super rare even then. This is a stunner though.
Pandem is the style.
Definately gives it a complete transformation! Thanks for watching
Love the cinematics
LOVE the music
Good to see you’re a fan of “Eddy Wally” from Belgium 🤣 waaauw
Shout out to all my Pandem.
I'll get my coat 🤣
hang tight all the pandem inside lol
Grande Gianluca e gran mezzo quasi come come la mia 😁😁😁
As an FD owner, I've always had a thing for a wild FC with the right kit, wheels etc.. Why is this car not able to be registered in Italy? Is the body kit an issue?
ayo fams, what wing is this? I want one for my own FC, even if it's custom i'd like to know what wings were combined tybb
If you watch video he mentions it, it's not the same as the kit 🙏 Thanks for watching
Lidl bit too costy to tune that engine 🤣🤣🤣
Good content as usual but what is that 1st tune ?
same i wanna know
This looks amazing
Gonna be sick seeing u do that drift day in America bro ur gonna smash it!
As my Scottish Bro Broontango would say, Fuck Yea!
This thing looks like a Procar BMW M1
Yeah where's John at?
Not very hard to build an "illegal" build, just get tires wider than the papers suggest and it's already illegal in half of europe.
It looks a lot like the BMW M1 ProCar.
What did he say about the suspension? Coilovers AND bags??
Yeah coilovers with air cups to raise over speed bumps etc
That be a dream for my FC to look anywhere near this good 😍
sickest savana i ever seen
Don't know where you disappeared off to but you're good
I did. Took about 50 Lego Parts
@MESSAGE ME ON TELEGRAM MONKYLONDON I did? What did I win?
Beautiful FC3S.
Not usually a fan of the FC itself, but I really love this FC.
I am in a French local car community with 3 RX cars, RX8, RX7 FD and RX7 FC.
I love rotary, was considering myself to buy a RX8 R3 back in the days. But I am glad I did not at the end, because we had so much troubles with our rotary cars.
They all paid for cars with engine with good compressions and shit. But at the end :
- The RX8 got fake compression test and my first mate goes for a engine swap for a total of 6k€ probably (car was paid 6k€ and is a RHD…).
- The french RX7 FC have to be rebuild after a plate failure. The total rebuild of the engine, after a bit of custome tuning to 300hp cost us 17k€. And the car 6k. Even with a rebuild, you don't usually expect a plate failure. But this can happen… and everything need to be done again.
- The UK FD paid 17k€ (it was a nice deal really because the car is mint) with only 100k km lose all compressions just after a short ride. We need an engine and it will probably cost us 6k € at least.
I hope my friends will have the pleasure to drive them for a long time, but at what cost ?
For sure, every of our car are about passion only and we spent a lot into it. But really, I think that for rotary it's not only random but more a question of time to get an engine that you need to rebuild. And rebuild isn't easy. There is many people that think that the engine is easy to manage because there is less part in it. But the fact is that it's not only a question of changing housing and apex. You need to be very precise with every measurements and gap, and many custom shop that are « Specialized » into rebuild (in France) do swaps without the required skills. You can pay 4k€ for a rebuild, and have to rebuild after 20 000 km because all your compressions dive suddendly.
Also at the end, yes, there is less part in a rotary, but we usually have all the knowledge (or close to it) to rebuild classics engine, and that's not the case for a rotary engine despite less part in it.
Not to say that I don't love rotary, but… I finished my car and can start to work on another project in the same time / and with the same money that they used to have 1 fucking car running well. That's sad ^^…
Support Violent Driving ...... Classic ...Not sure what the filth would say about it, but hey ...peace
Love this fc...
but i also love the outro, but i cant find the name...same help?
Love channels that take 10 minutes of talking to get to the actual footage...
Not.
the two pentagrams on the front bumper RUIN this car. Why would you put that Satanic crap on such a beautiful car?
It’s not road legal anyway so not many people will see it
@@boobsthechemist2067 "not many people will see it" ?? On YT with RX7 in the title? LOL. Nice car though
What do you recommend, some fictional story book crosses and some analbead drift charms
Great video 👊 🙏
What about this makes it illegal in Italy?
@matt hill no mods allowed in italy
Rx7 is very nice but would rather of seen the Renault 5 and the Honda EG
You would think the Italians would be more hands off with shit like this given their history of making performance cars... Maybe it's like that time Merc assassinated the preowned import market in the states.
Where’s Carson performance been lately 😰 and the builds. #bringbacktheoldML
MAD built up your Escort motor yet? Where's the Calibra?
I don't use FB or Insta anymore.
dont think m.a.d are doing it know, and he sold the calibra and it got scrapped
What brand wheels are those
Awesome cars💯💯
Rx7 looks good 👍 👌
ending song name pls?
Amazing car
Mad I thought it was an Fb until I watched the video lmao
Hi Monky, naughty looking little car!
Do you have a professional email ? Would love to buy some merch, but have a particuliar request, keep me updated !
What is the music in this
stock FC Around 1310 KG
Government changes the regs on a whim. At any point our previous legal whip can be made illegal. Israel, Commiefornia and Singapore are among the worst places on the planet to own a car.
I've boned women that weigh more than 250kg 😂😂 welcome to the club sir! 😂😂
why pentagrams on front bumper ? do they know what those are a symbol of ? i pray for him
Two meters is 6 1/2 feet. There's no way it's that wide in the rear.
It's 1.4m factory, add 300mm either side, done
@monkylondon where are you????
He's been gone for over 4 weeks
Boned women that weight more than 250kg!! Done me!! 😂
Blitz bov yes please
please name of soung
1250kg for stock FC
Why is it illegal?
Article 78 of our rules of the road, in fact, prohibited any vehicle modification that was not authorized by the manufacturer.
The new European Traffic Regulations, which Italy has adopted but still doesn’t seem to know how to apply, recognizes automobile customization even without the manufacturer’s permission.
MUSIC NAME ?!
RUDE - Eternal Youth,or remix of this song.
First but I won’t be the last
Why is it illegal to own the car is it because it’s modified
Yes, no mods are allowed in Italy, obviously with a heavy modded car you have lot of chance of getting caught by police and if this happen you will pass some really shit moment
Nice 👌 blow off valve is a bit in yer face 👍👍
