I really like this radio. Got a lot of character. My grandmother had an old Zenith am/fm tube radio when I was a kid. I bought a couple on eBay but haven’t had time to go through them yet. Really enjoy your channel.
The first Silvertone model 6022 from 1938. (There was another model made in 1965/66 with that number). A similar radio chassis was in models 6048, 6202 and 6252. All wood cabinets that looked even better and with the odd three over three pushbutton setup.
I think you can do better than OESC and wax on these. I'm not a dedicated fan of Howard's but it's a start in the right direction. If you test for shellac with alcohol and find that is what the finish is the options expand. Same with lacquer using lac thin (I know you're in CA, so acerone) as a test. Many products are still available to "amalgamate" the finish. Wax is always a great way to finish up. I've watched scores of your vids. Just giving back something. Thank you.
Not the prettiest, but great job on its service etc..Nice video and I got a better view of the across the line caps.. Kinda' a dark area for a newbie like me..🥺 God job..Ed..UK..😊
Finally a repair video worth watching. Thank you for saving history.
thats an interesting looking unit Mr. Radio

The tune eye tube should work-its part of this neat vintage radio.

Hey Seth ever have any interesting live critters inside those old sets 😁
I was thinking the same thing 👍👍.
Hey Mister Radio how come they didn't put a back on the radio? Was it like that back then?
Yes there are many sets that did not come with backs.

Ha! I can smell the electronics…
Why would they have a 25z5 and 25L6 if there is a xfrmr? Makes no sense prob wrong tube is my first impression.
Kaput Restauriert. Warum muss man die alten Teile entfernen die Geräte haben so keinen Historischen Wert mehr.
