Personally I don't think Austin Powers sequel ruins international man of mystery per se but does taint it to me personally... As far as the die hard movies McClain isn't really a superhero until he fights that jet in the fourth movie. But to me that's not even where the series goes bad. What taints the series more so IMO is the fifth movie that never should've happened! It breaks the cardinal sin of Die hard by being the only script in the franchise that was written as a die hard movie
