I stack my fabrics after pressing, and use a ruler and rotary cutter to get my square cuts. Chain piecing on your serger can also speed up the process. I use a standard machine for my piecing, and press the seams open to reduce bulk when creating the pieced fabric. (I both quilt and make garments, so I use techniques from both). Also, I have seen that bias tape machine foot, and oooo, I want one! 😁
Love it! This is so so nice. I can imagine how much work it was cutting the patches, I recently used up almost all of my scrap and it just felt so fulfilling, knowing I did my own tiny bit in reducing waste generated from garment production.
This is so true Remi. I’ve made a conscious effort to reduce the amount of waste I’m generating to as minimal as possible, hence why I didn’t mind cutting and sewing all the patches together for this dress
This is so beautiful 😍😍 I have lots of scraps too, definitely going to make this (will probably make a short version) Infact let me get up and start cutting my 6x6 pieces 😂
IHi Kim: I just looked at how you got started in designing. There are lawyers, doctors, chemists who change their career to become fashion designers after working in their fields for a number of years. In the end its about having a happy life. You are an amazing designer.
Whenever i watch your videos it just blows my mind. You are so so so gifted. You must have a mathematical mind to create the things you do. You are surely blessed. Keep on sharing. Even it is just a pleasure to watch you design and sew.🙏
Hi Priscilla, you are amazing. anytime I watch your videos, I'm inspired to jump on my machine. Your tutorials are so easy to understand. I especially love the ones with patterns. Thank you so much. Hugs and kisses
I also just tried a similar patchwork technique. Whew, it’s so much work! Cutting, sewing, ironing. But it’s a labour of love, with a lovely result, seeing small pieces become a new whole! Very magical. The colours and patterns of your fabrics look very nice together. ✨
I just inherited a sewing machine so I am going to be learning how to sew I was afraid for years my cousin tried to show me and I got fearful of the needle going into my finger so I didn't try anymore now that I do crocheting and making dresses I want to learn how to make linings for my dresses and I came across this because I also want to make a quilt and I was thinking to myself I would love to have a quilt dress and came across your video this is absolutely stunning if I make this dress I can make anything the sky is the limit for me thanks for being such an inspiration to others 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🙋🏾♀️
Unique style and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your skills, techniques, knowledge and providing an informative tutorial. An appreciative novice. Blessings. 💐👌
Wow. This is beautiful. So glad it popped up in my suggestions. Was watching stitched up’s latest blog and she was saying how beautiful it was and is going to have a go herself ❤️❤️❤️
Very nice! What to do with the seams of the patchwork if you don’t have a server or over locker? I can’t imagine wearing a quilt top with exposed seams. I hate the look of seams pressed to one side then zigzagged, and I wouldn’t want open seams to fray, i also don’t want a lining lol, so I guess I will never make one, haha.
Decided to create this patchwork maxi dress using all my scrap fabrics. Took me two days to make this dress and it was worth the stress!
True 70's

Now I have an idea of what to do with all my scrap fabric. It's so cute
