    I'm really impressed by the finished product, really shows the great amount of time taken to make it look good as well as functional even tho it's DIY.

    Missed opportunity on the top plate.
    You should get REX-C100 PID for it. Its rather inexpensive and now you will have both top and bottom plate with precise control.

    This is what I wanted to see on your channel. I'm really impressed. Although I have a question. How do you control the temperature of the overhead IR element? Since you connected it to the wires of the previously backside heating element, I'm sure you don't increase the temperature of both bottom and upper to the same temperature now.

    Looks to be far more efficient than the hot air station. Better heat transfer through radiant thermal energy.

      Yeah but very slow.
      I ended up switching back to hot air

    I was wondering could you do a short video on your fume exhaust system?. You must have something for all those solder fumes but I don’t recall seeing it in the videos. Cheers.

    I allways tought hot Air was better than ir ceramic on top, the profesional machines uses hot Air, why do you prefer IR ceramic????

    • @kakkoishonen
      @kakkoishonen Год назад +1

      Same question as me.
      Pro tools all use hot air on top...

    • @northwestrepair
      @northwestrepair  Год назад +10

      i actually use hot air because its still faster then ceramic heater.
      This was an experiment that turned out to be ok but slow.
      I am trying to make a jig using that heater to solder balls to the core so i wont have to blow on it. maybe i will post about it later.

    i noticed the top heater ceramic is marked 220v, does the T8280 have a converter inside, or does it simply heat up slightly slower than if it were on true 220v?
    well done job all together!

  • @jonnygudman1815

    What temperature in Celsius profile do you use for the preheater and from above? I use 150c at the bottom and when the temperature is reached, slowly up to a maximum of 210c.

      Slow heating.
      Slow cooling.
      Weights strategically placed around.
      Most importantly is to set it flat to begin with

      Infrared does not heat everything, but rather the loot and metal surfaces.
