Many people think Borobudur is in Yogjakarta. But in truth, Borobudur is located in the less well-known city of Magelang, Central Java province, adjacent to Yogjakarta.
This rules for Borobudur Temple are necessary to preserve the Temple since it is a Holy Place for Buddhist people to go for their pilgrimage, it's not just ordinary tourism attraction. So the people who manage the Borobudur Temple have to be careful and mindful.
Visiting Borobudur is much better now with the restricted numbers. Previously, it was a free for all, very crowded and people were damaging the temple. It seems you missed out on Prambanan temple complex. In my view, Prambanan is more interesting as it is a complex of temples that you can wander around at your leisure. There are many small temples etc which are off the beaten tourist path near Yogya if you want to take the time to explore.
The luck passage between two banyan trees youre talkinh about actually happen at southern square, alun2 kidul (alkid). The hedge closed squared is alun2 utara or northern square.
Cant wait you move to Bali soon...but PLEASE before you leave Jogja i recommend you to visit gothic CHURCH sayidan in jogjakarta ITS so beautiful and authentic place and full of history
Jogja complete package of tourism and culinary. from active mountain tourism, ancient mountains, temples on mountains, underground temples, villages above the clouds, caves, underground rivers, rows of beaches along the edge of the jogja mainland and so on...🙏🙏🙏
Yogyakarta is how Javanese name it, and in Javanese alphabet there's already the difference between Y and J. but when the Dutch came, they wrote it Jogjakarta, but the way they read it still Yogyakarta. Not just Y became J, C became TJ, U became OE, J became DJ. So other places like: Jambi (in Sumatra) was written as Djambi, Ungaran (in Central Java) was Oengaran, Colomadu (in Solo, Central Java) was Tjolomadoe. People nowadays either don't know the history or just ignore about how to read it right, that's how they read it Jogja, not Yogya
Borobudur Temple is in Magelang, Central Java. Yogyakarta and Central Java are different provinces. My house is not far from Borobudur temple. Many vlogger videos from non-Indonesians refer to the Borobudur temple as being in Yogyakarta. Excuse me

M & M, I used to put the Kopi Joss in a small thermos, take it home and put a scoop of rich Vanilla Ice cream in a cold glass and pour Joss kopi over the ice cream. Very nice. 👍
Hello, just watching this from miserable Leeds. Your video's are so interesting and makes Michael Palin travel light and barely stepped out of his house. You should produce your own Dabble and Travel t-shirt's or Molly n Mat's map's. Happy birthday.
In the past, hundred people entering Borobudur all at once. It's not only super crowded, but also some people got hurt by their legs or getting breath problem when they squashed by the crowd who try to enter or leaving the site. With guide system, only few people will enter and it won't bring any problem for the safety. And the shoes they are giving is to keep the site clean. Since we don't know what you're stepping on before with your previous shoes, it's better to give you new clean shoes that you can keep as souvenir. That's why the price ticket is pretty expensive for the structure one.
Wow nice and beautiful adventures as usual thank you so much for sharing with us so awesome scenery wow wow wow and wow it’s your birthday Molly happy birthday to you and more blessings and full of happiness and many many more birthdays to come wow so very beautiful adventures and it’s Mollys birthday 🎂🎈🎉🍾💖
My favourite part was visiting the Chicken Church, it's such an amusing place to find, I saw it at the distance when I was at Borobudur and when I got back to my driver I just asked him to take me there, well worth visiting for those that go to Borobudur! Gereja Ayam (Chicken Church) is 100% worth the visit, and the voucher they give for food is worth it as well if you are hungry, nice place to eat, the free Latella (Cassava) with Sambal (Spicy Sauce) is so tasty :) When I went there 3 weeks ago I was also the only westerner, I saw two Chinese tourists and the rest were Indonesian, the best part was climbing up to the top of the dove's crown, and from there you can see Borobudur in all it's splendour, so it is totally deserving of a stop in anyone's itinerary if visiting Yogyakarta, in person it looks even better than what you see in photos or videos. especially the view from the crown. Also can confirm it is around $30 dollars to get a driver for the day in Yogyakarta, that is what I paid for personally, well worth the money as you do not want to be using Grab/Gojek all day in the heat!
Nice nice nice video! Jogja (and Borobudur, Prambanan and Kraton) is nice and the people are known to be friendly and polite. The perfect place to visit if you're into "off the beaten path" kinda travel. Melia is a very nice hotel, though I still believe Tentrem is the absolute best hotel in Jogja (It is so good that big names like Obama, Mariah Carey, David Foster and some other Hollywood stars stayed there). More expensive but certainly more happening than all other hotels in Jogja. And oh, I hope the charcoal (in that coffee) does not mess up your kidneys, girl!
Selamat Ulang Tahun. When I took my wife and kids to see my folks, we did Borobudur and the usual lark. I would say it would have been worth heading up to Kaliurang since you can see the magnificent force of nature when Merapi decided to dribble a bit of red liquid and eject some rocks. If you're into your outdoor pursuits, then mother nature definitely reshaped the land for that. Also, there's the Ullen Sentalu museum which goes through the historical significance of the sultantes and succession of the Matarm Kingdom. If you're into your Batik, there's a lot of nuanced narrratives that was very insightful. Didn't get a chance to got to Prambanan, but it's only a 15 minute drive from my mum's new cemetary, so we'll consider that next time we visit. Different vibe altogether, but again, equally significant artefact of Javanese heritage. The second highlight of our trip was the Gembira Loka Zoo. Wife was impressed as to the variety and scale of different fauna there. We've done Longleat to death and West Midlands Safari Park. Bristol Zoo and London Zoo can't hold a candle to it. My daughter loved the fact that you can razz quad bikes around the forest within the grounds! There's certainly more to Jogja than meets the eye, and it's all about having somebody local to show you and get you in. A bit miffed that I had to split the ticketing for us - I got in as a local, because I could blag my way in Javanese, but the wife and kids needed to pay overseas prices. The moment you land in Heathrow and get a Greggs at Reading Services, you'll miss how ridiculously cheap and tasty food in Central Java is! Also, loads of trendy new restaurants in idyllic locations have started popping up and are getting hyped! Ayom and Wanawatu were ones I was quite happy with (for the price of a spoons lunch, it weren't half bad)
Hiii... welcome to Yogyakrta city is my birthplace and of residence. Charcoal embers in coffee, can reduce the sour taste and add a smoky aroma. I also like eating at Mediterranean restaurants and Masama restaurant with the owner, by Camille Massard Combe (aka chef Kamil).... Please enjoy your trip and Happy Birthday Molly 🎂
I always stay at Melia Purosani Hotel when I go for Holiday to Indonesia my own Country, Now I live in Switzerland . I like Melia Purosani Hotel to spend my Holiday in Yogjakarta. Enjoy your Holiday in my Country.
Borobudur is a huge site, the cart that takes visitor around helps a lot consider the distance from the entrance to the temple its pretty much far, and the hot climate a disadvantage. it wont be a problem for you who is young and full with energy even though you must admit it’s tough specially if you were there after 12 am, the heat just piercing thru your skin. Not all visitor are in good shape, young or can stand the extreme heat, so there’s the reason why they provide this cart, you should appreciated, so you can enjoy more the site instead being tired and exhausted bc the distance and exposed heat.
I didn't know the rules has changed, last time i visit the temple was in 2020 before covid hit Indonesia, and you just need to buy one ticket, and you can freely going up to the temple

Yeah, borobudur used to be free to roam. Now you must booked online. But yeah, the positive side is Borobudur now not as crowded as it used to which they said burden the structure. I also dont recognize the alun-alun with the 2 Beringin tree. It used to be a grass field. Why is it grey now? Is it cemented or sand? Malioboro should be visited in night time when it comes alive. 😊
