My personal favorite song on the soundtrack. Not ashamed to say it's brought me to tears before. It's an astonishing level of talent and effort put into a soundtrack for any game, let alone one from the PS2 era. Perfect Soundtrack to a legendary game.
I always love this song. It really lays out the emotion of the game and it hurts but it is so so sweet. The game is one of the first to truly show us not everything is happily ever after. I will always love this game. It is amazing and really put a place in my heart. From watching Mona lay, to Agro fall, to Wander die. I love this game. The desolate lands. The colossi.
WARNING, I'm discussing plot spoilers so scroll past if you have not watched the ending to this game. so many things to feel and digest. I guess the one thing that stands out to me is that he went through all of this and he doesn't even get to see her wake up or see his beloved horse actually survive the massive fall. So she wakes up and the last thing she probably remembers is being sacrificed and now she awakes and she's in this big temple in a barren, forbidden land with no way back to civilisation. And the music, for me, really captivates what is going on and the contrasting range of emotions. and even when the credits roll and the music gets more tense to really reflect what you've done and what it was all for in the end.
+Graham89 I think, like many people, that Wander doesn't deserve that kind of joy. He slaughtered beautiful creatures in favor of a dark god. In this line of thinking, he deserves to be punished. I don't se him as a victim. His intections may be good. But the way to do it, not so much. And another thing, we don't know why Emon and his men sacrificed Mono. May be, was the best thing that they could do.
actually Dormin is most probably a neutral god, as he says that humans only paid the price for sealing his power and (probably) trying to make war machines with it (as we see that most of them were protectors or warriors of cities but they probably gone wild at some point, and the last boss looks like he's not finished, placed in a test arena and only curious about his visitor), don't forget that his temple hosts wild life and a way of replenishment for cursed or evil beings (in the secret garden), even his voice is supposed to hint this as it's the superposition of a men and women voice.
I thought it was extremely creative to make Wander be reborn, as the water the sword fell in only collected pure evil, and it shows Wander had some good left in him. I think that he was turned back into a child since trespassing upon the land was forbidden, and slaying the colossi further tainted him. There was still something left though, which I see as the love he felt for Mono. Emon's last speech shows that he is unsure if anything was left of him, and there was. Another thing I always think about is Mono has no idea who the child is, or why he has horns.
Wander was more manipulated than brainwashed. Dormin already saw his yearning to revive Mono and he played with that. Wander was already in the mindset of a willingness to do anything, even if meant (say in-game time) spending days slaying 16 colossi, oblivious to the fact Dormin purposely kept out the vital detail that each colossus house a part of his soul and power. Our protagonist may appear as a protagonist, but in truth, he's an antihero, he sought only one thing, consequences be damned; he didn't care if he was giving up his humanity, but as long as he knew Dormin held onto his side of the bargain, he would just keep going and pushing. Bloody hell! He kept pursuing Malus even after losing Agro, he didn't even spend the time to mourn her as he knew his quest was nearing an end. Hard to say whether Dormin is a truly evil God, he was hellbent in trying to kill the cult using Wander's body, however; just never trust a God. Wander fell into that trap, willingly trusting Dormin. Shadow of the Colossus is a very deep game and lies fittingly in a grey area in terms of morality and even the philosophy of murder. The fight with Valus was epic, but the time you reach halfway or even Phalanx and begin to ponder whether what you are doing is murder or not. Most of the colossi were minding their business and only attacked you out of self-defense (yes, Celosia and Celobia, even Dirge were outright aggressive) but a majority of the others were passive. So, yes in a way, Wander was committing murder, it's up for debate. I rest my case, sorry I made my comment look like an English Class.
@@notspoopyghost1334 Same here it beat 20 times by now this game is a work of art a masterpiece and epic tragedy so many words can describe this game but for one word describes it all and it's perfection.
this game was a masterpiece it shows how love works the loss of your loved one gives power the power to do anything to bring back the one you love the one you want no matter the cost
"Now, no one can enter these lands." "If you are somehow still alive..." ...if it is possible to exist in these cursed lands..." "...maybe one day, you will make atonement for what you have done."
This song will always mean so much to me. A heroic adventure of unfathomable proportions combined with exhibiting such dauntless bravery for someone you love! I’ll never forget being a kid and playing this game over and over and aspiring to be such a courageous and adventurous hero as wander. Against all odds one little man in a land that would’ve took an army to conquer. One man with an unbreakable spirit and a heart fit for a hero filled with the boundless, never ending love of his lady friend! It’s such a great and perfect story and I love it so much!! I’ve always aspired to be that hero! I’ve always wanted to go on the same immeasurably epic adventures and do brave things! And to eventually have the pure love that is shared between two souls that would do anything for each other.... I’ve always wanted to live that life and I plan to one day and this song just reminds me of that dream I’ve always had :.)
A nice fusion of lamenting what you've done and how far you've come just to achieve something you consciously executed out of love, seemingly dying with the idea that you failed in the end as a puppet rather than a hero. All the while the fruits of your labor emerge without you.
We know this game is perfect and rlly good, but when it comes to the gameplay, the gameplay is easy to master, yes. But… gathering the courage to defeat these colossal beasts is the hardest, especially for someone like me. Just wanted to share my experience of the game. And yes, no matter how many times people might try and hate this game for whatever reason, idk. We all know deep down that this game helped us and did its part to show how courageous we really can be as a community when we just try. Holy oof writing this i didn’t expect to write this much again, its turning into a habit XD thanks for reading, dear friend, and may we see again sometime.
5:33 is the best part for me, the most beautyfull song that have been made on the game, is my favorite. This one always reminds my 7 year old self, playing for the first time, how excited I got, for the story, the fights, the characters, all
I wanted a sea turtle colossus that was like a humongous island on the sea with a sort of platform up to land. And I wanted a colossus to be on top of that colossus. Like a smallish colossus. I thought it was a decent idea

My favorite is the one right afterwards, the Sunlit Earth.
There is no shame in crying over something beautiful. ❤
