    Great video. Maybe I'm paranoid but I like to see everyone wearing eye protection when working with bleach, especially kids. When I was a kid, I had chlorine blow into my eyes when I was adding it to our pool. That was a really bad experience and I ended up in emergency room. Thankfully, my dad heard me screaming outside and quickly carried me into the bathroom and flushed my eyes. Doc said I was lucky and could have had permanent damage. Just a thought... All the best!

    Great video thank you! Quick question for you if you don’t mind. My water softener is dug into the ground so unfortunately I can’t clean it the way you did. But what I’m wondering is, do you have to suck out the dirty water that’s inside the white component of the brine tank, the long narrow component with the water float? Or will this dirty water get cycled out once you’re done cleaning the brine well and you do a regen? Also I’ve seen other videos that you add water to the brine well after you add the salt, just a little above the salt, but I noticed you did not to do this, any reason why? Thank you I’m advance!

    I defintely will be doing this after seeing you do it. Question though, do you not have to add water back into the tank after adding new salt again? when the softener goes to regen next time there won't be any salt in the brine tank to wash the media in softener? will it just fill up with water after the first regen or what? I'm curious about that part or just add salt and done? Looking forward to cleaning it.

    I think most of us are! 😂
    You didn't mention turning off the water supply or whatever is required, after disconnecting the brine tank. You don't want that thing turning on while you're out in the yard cleaning the brine. What is required?

    • @DIYinspiredLewisBrantner
      @DIYinspiredLewisBrantner  Год назад +1

      oh.... I thought I mentioned that in the video.... yes, its not a problem to turn off the shut off value at the tank. it would be a mess to clean up of it cycles while your outside clean....

  • @DIYinspiredLewisBrantner
    @DIYinspiredLewisBrantner  2 года назад +3

    First, thanks so much for watching and we hope you learned something from my experiences. To your question, TDS most commonly refer to the levels of dissolved ions in your water, like calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and nitrates. They naturally occur in water after it filters through bedrock and soil. These are not my words, I copied them from Colligan. I would consult the manual to know the exact level is safe. Most manufactures say 50-150. Don't take my word for it, it would be good to do your own research as I am not an expert.

  • @phaeumkim5130
    @phaeumkim5130 Год назад

    what did you do after you clean and put new salt. Did you have to manually put in regeneration mode or did you have to add water in the brine tank

    • @DIYinspiredLewisBrantner
      @DIYinspiredLewisBrantner  Год назад

      in my case, I didn't do anything since I didn't shut anything off, the risk doing that is the tank going into regeneration mode during my time of cleaning but I know what time it cycles so I make sure I cleaned it another time of the day. Great question, I didn't think to mention this during the video. Thanks for sharing your comments.
