Excellent Shree Iyer Ji. In Maharashtra we call it ‘Pitambar’ we use it for performing pooja and other religious events. Jai Hind 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

    Sree Iyer 🙏, well done
Excellent demonstration, pulled off very well. Thanks, learnt from it. It is important for sustenance of our customs and traditions that we learn and pass on to the future generations. Look at the brilliance of the attire - simple length of cloth draped and tied in a way that gives you covers you, gives freedom of movement and looks great. We are so far gone on to the ways of the western world - due to colonialism or lack of recognition of who we truly are and our glorious culture. We need to get back to what we are - Indian. Once we realise it, there is no need to go anywhere else.

Its amazing to note the words of the ' dhuti' - as dhoti is pronounced in bengali; now pancha us same= 5.
"Kachham' sounds same . The front side fold tucked in naval is ' koncha' and the back side tucked in back is called ' kacha'. But i find that safe and stout way of securing the 'kachhams' front and back is to do it in style of marathas -- (as secure as a pant, you can even do a horse ride) . I use it during pitri paksh tarpan as well during durga puja 😁🙏

Intrigued by your this side as usual. .. Shree Anna.. very well demontrated.. I just have a suggestion.. for those of heavy built.. to fit the girth and height it's the measure 10x 6 feet actually..its called patthuaaru..alavu..which shops have. And lo.. present their own majestic side in a panchakachcham veshti attire... for everyones inspiration we can readily remember Dushyant Shridhar..who beautifully sports the angavastram.. with elan..

Good video. Many people like my son inlaw and son who are in bay area don't know how to tie a panchakacham. So I have given to them a ready made one available in Chennai, like madisaru pudavai for ladies. When I am in US, I used to tie it for them. Your video useful. But we do it differently, but as you said there are many ways. Tieing panchakacham is very good for health. It has a science behind it. I feel my lower back pain goes everytime I tie panchkacham as it holds the spinal chord straight at L5, L6 areas which is main problem for low back pain. This is the best form of dress suitable for everybody.

Thanx sir, for choosing to demystify the
    'பஞ்ச்சகச்சம்' style!
Till mid 1970s there used to be an alternative word in currency - 'த்தார்ப்பாய்ச்சி'கட்டு.
    1.Are both the same?
    2. Politicians like Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy, Vengal Rao, Devraj Urs, K.Brahmananda Reddy, Mulayam Singh Yadav,
Y B Chavan, even Ramakrishna Hegde(occasionally) used to wear their dhothi in 'panchakachcham' style but those starched cotton dhothies looked worn rather differently.
Could you throw some light on these, please?

Pancha in sanskrit means that which broadens as you go up, like the pancha patram. Kachcha is the folded underpass. So pancha kachcham.
