However, this particular style of wearing dhoti addresses all such concerns, and presents a really neat and comfortable way of wearing this piece of clothing. Lucky to come across your video. I was lamenting on Instagram how I don’t see men around me wearing dhoti, including my family members, except my late grandfather. So I randomly searched online and found your video. I’m going to learn it and make my brother wear this on Rakhi this year. No readymade stuff. I’ll drape dhoti for him, tie him Rakhi - that will be my way of treating him like a King❤ Need to bring back our culture and make our men look royal❤

We have 12 ways of wearing a dhoti, each ideal for a different purpose. This one, in particular, is ideal for physical training and warfare. Its not apt for other day to day work is the fact that at the cost of degree of freedom it provides for movement, it makes it extremely cumbersome when you want to pee...
Keep up the good work 👍🏻

This looks very nice. As a Tamil brahmin, the panchakacham is worn differently by me. That also looks nice. The one advantage of that style over this one is, when one needs to use the loo for passing urine, this North (Varanasi) style would make things very complicated, particularly if the person is diabetic needing to urinate frequently. Having said that, the Varanasi style makes it look like a pant and therefore ease of movement should be very good in this style. Thanks for making a clear video and sharing.

Btw this is not real northern style of wearing dhoti or varanasi style. The usual style.is same as panchagatcham.same like how we do in south. Bt some tie know first in the middle way easier. So in north might nt be pure panchagatcham as the knot is there. also the last step are not done to make pleats and tuck again to make pancha tucking. U can see the video in my channel for north indian style dhoti esp for Gaudiya Vaishnava follower. So it is quite alright to say that there are Hindus and non-Hindus living in India. There is a difference in terminology commonly used in N.India and S.India.
The term "Lungi" in S.India (more importantly in Tamil Nadu) means the colored ones (mostly used by Muslims) usually printed (checked or with floral designs). While Lungi to the rest of the country can be of any color (including plain white) as long as it is just wrap around (as we do it with a towel after taking a shower). Nonetheless, this is called 'Vesti" in Tamil Nadu (its just a wrap around and is plain white in color without any printed material, with the exception of borders), remember, if it is colored or printed with design, then it is not vesti but Lungi in Tamil Nadu. All the ministers of Tamil Nadu, way wear vesti (and not Lungi). Now comes the term for dhoti (as referred to in the rest of India); the dhoti in Tamil Nadu is called 'panja-kachcham" as it is tied down at five places. Hope this clears some air of confusion surrounding Lungi, Vesti, Dhoti, and Panjakachcham.
