IMSA has become my series of choice. Marshall Pruett's enthusiasm, and the approachability of all the teams, just the purity of the racing. looking forward to a great season this year.

Same. It was WEC originally, and l still consider that the ultimate, but this is looser and funner. I can’t attend races anywhere because I’m in Australia, but everyone in racing says the vibe at an IMSA meet is always mad fun.

I see a big step up in content in the last year, do more people love this

love these tech videos, sometimes even better than F1 tech videos
just wish you guys made highlights of practices, qualifying and races

It’s crazy how sophisticated this kind of tech has become at this level. I remember maybe 15-20 years ago working on military equipment thought to be near the bleeding edge that wasn’t half this sophisticated.

The data nerd in me loved learning about how this tech is being used. I’d seen pictures of it from IMSA events last year but getting a video diving into it was a treat

Keep progressing. getting sponsorships and F1 talent is a big win.

Off topic but does IMSA use track limit sensors in the wheels and or tires?
or are certain corners monitored by a person in race control?

Thats crazy accuracy tolerance for a carbon fiber parts. Makes you wonder how they are achieving such tolerances. Especially when rebuilding a car after a crash

It has to be pretty stressful for the guys making the parts, juat a touch too much epoxy in the layers of carbon will very quickly add 2mm. Yeah the epoxy could transfer to the top and possibly be sanded off, but you can't get into the carbon as you'd ruin the part. Hell even the fittings for the body work need to be perfect and perfectly secured, that's mega easy to be a mm out of spec and that's just 1 panel.

Fascinating…with tolerances down to what sounded like +/- 1/8”…. Does the system compensate for ambient temperature? Typically for engineering and inspection the standard is 20C or about 68 F.

Interesting that they are using the metric system for measurement rather than freedoms and eagles.

I love how Dries Vanthoor jokingly calls IMSA Hillbilly racing (even whilst driving in it 😄) because it’s so insanely complex they scan the bloody cars with lasers yet at the same time there is some good-spirited hillbilly looseness to it and that’s why the paddock is so chill and the vibe so fun. 🤙🏼

too bad they did not show how scans actually look it on screen and how software actually decides if they are in compliance or not

Imsa punishment for Porsche 😮via bop this year for complaining last year about it. I'm so done with imsa. Fan since the 70's and a former team member of a Ferrari 333sp in 1999 it's just ridiculous

Smokey would have fooled this system - somehow, someway.
