This is one of those songs I first heard late on a Sunday night in 1973 (after procrastinating studying I should have done all weekend) when our local stations signed off at midnight and you could hear more stations far away. Some out-of-town soul station back in the day played songs like this. First heard Tavares Check It Out, Intruders I Wanna Know Your Name that way along with the Moment's What's Your Name. Whispers What More Can A Girl Ask For --I could go on. College days. Wow!
Can't move these songs were the bomb!!! back in the day.So mad that I was so young that I couldn't get into the shows, but my mommy & older siblings really enjoyed these groups. So unfair.
I was 12 years old when this song first came out in 1970 who a lot of babies were born back in the day off at this time is still a masterpiece love it love it love it
@@lcchillSure did!!! One of, if not the greatest soulful group of all time. Never understood why they didn't become more popular, because as you can see, talent is something they possessed.
Damn!! There are so many groups I didn't know about. I was really young at this time, but I knew about the Delphonics, Stylistics, Blue Magic and the most popular groups, but I've missed so much. So glad for youtube and the people that post this great music. thank you!!!
@MrBigredchuck I appreciate your response & understand perfectly. I'm a photographer of Classic Soul concerts & know most of the artists from back in Lee's day. I'm also a member of The National R&B Music Society & my friend Marc Taylor publishes A Touch Of Classic Soul Magazine. We have all loved the music of Tomorrow's Promise for decades. My goal is not to intrude on Lee, but rather to express some well-deserved appreciation. His voice has meant a lot to us, he's like an old friend.
I heard this song recently and have been on a quest to fine it in mp3 format. I love music, real music.I missed this growing up, but I am glad I learned of it. I just do not recall hearing of this group before. I have been here 6 decades.
Mr. Lee pitman is the lead singer of this song and if you hear him sing this day and time he will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up he is about 65 and still sound great lee is a great person to know him you would know! i worked with him on stage and he is wonderful and a blessed soul!
THIS JAM PLAYED OVER AND OVER BY MY OLDER SIBLINGS.WAS ONLY EIGHT.BUT LOVED HEARING IT BACK THEN.SO MANY GROUPS WERE SO UNDERATED BACK THEN.NOW SO MANY OF NON-TALENTED SINGERS ARE OVER-RATED
THIS WAS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE MANY GROUPS BACK IN THE DAY THAT WAS VERY ENTERTAINING. THIS SONG MEANS A LOT TO ME FROM SOMEONE CLOSE . A WELL SUNG SONG WITH MANY VOCAL ARRANGEMENTS AND VOCAL VARIATIONS. NOTHING LIKE TODAY'S SO CALLED GROUPS THAT THINK THEY CAN SING. THIS TOOK PRACTICE,...
OMG Thank you so much for uploading this song. I have it on my macbook. But I didn't have the correct group name and title. It took some serious searching to find your upload. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
@BabaAkili You know Lee pretty good because you hit his age and personality on the head. I grew up with Lee and their Bass Herman Gainer. I was good friends with the whole group which also included Freddie Harper, Bobby Guy, and Kenny Sawyer (who wrote some of their songs). I used to hang around with these guys in the 70s when they were doing cabarets around the Baltimore-Washington area. They are all still alive but do not sing together anymore.
Sarah Crute I forgot about this song as well until I saw it on the side of the screen... I came here to listen to it.....What a great classic this is with also having great harmony!
Does anyone know how/where to get a copy of this song with this group? Itunes has the song for purchase, but it's a Will Downing version. No offense to Will Downing, but his version is garbage compared to this.
Ronnie Robinson Do you mean singing "Tenor" or singing tender to the ladies or to your wife......I'm just curious! Nevertheless, this is a great classic. I remember buying this song on a small 45 rpm......Also this group has great harmony.........I came here to listen to this song........
@DatSoulBoss I know how to contact Lee but I am not at liberty to give out his phone number plus Lee is a bit private. I can ask him whether or not he would like to be contacted and see how he feels about it. Post or inbox your contact information and I will past it along to Lee.
Yeah. I was in JHS on the verge of becoming a nasty little boy playing hooky, private parties, grinding in the corner to all the slow songs. For those who have no idea what grinding is: Slow dancing with putting your thighs in between her legs and vice versa; balancing each other often all the way to the floor. You can see where that led to. Wait my mom might read this...she'll finally find out what happened to all the liquor years later. LMAO.
Simple, beautiful great arrangement and fantastic vocals one of my favourite songs of the last forty odd years

It is so special when the arrangement is up to the level of the vocals, and then the lyrics are as special as the production! Pure greatness!
