I must admit it brought me up so sharp when Tim gave his definition: 'Juke-box: What Phillip wears for cricket.' All I could think is, sadly, they're both gone now. Rest in peace TBT and HRH.
2:35:11 Possibly one of the best rounds of Mornington Crescent! ⭐️ Perfect for beginners! And Mile End also works for the Montreal rules version too. 🇨🇦 (Called “Lucien-L’Allier” btw) Episode 2: Red Rum is the name of a winning thoroughbred.
I had forgotten that the basic rules differed from the original ones. I guess that was back in the 1960s when they were trying to popularise the game in schools?
Sorry, I don’t want to be ‘that guy’ but as that round was aimed at beginners, I’d be remiss if I didn’t correct you here. Mile End would NOT work under Montreal rules because of the L’Otorialle convention of 1957 section xxxvi subsection 1. Not to be a bore, but essentially you can only take an octagonal route from Hastings Gap if the left man is blind and the chairman has called for the NEXT diagonal to be in Nib. Common mistake though.
@@frankowalker4662 Whilst that’s true, the 2nd provision contained all the necessary wording that would come to be called Nib- but it wasn’t known as such until 1959 when it was formally introduced. But given this was a basic rules I didn’t want to be unnecessarily complex for any keen amateur players reading this. To all intents and purposes, the move would result in the player being in Nib if played under modern rules.
So many memories of juvenile nonsense perpetrated by educated grown men. Wonderful. RIP Humph, Barry and Tim.
Amen to that.
Brilliant 10/10
R.I.P Baz. Paying respects.

@@andyreynolds6194 Yes, but nib was'nt introduced until 1959, when revision 6 of section xxxvi subsection 1 was revised.
