I'm a year late to this video. I will leave a comment anyway. I was about your age, Young Sir, when I found my love of bonsai. This was many moons ago, and you may well not have even been born. It was before the internet. My first book on bonsai was written by Peter. He has and always will be my first teacher. To see you so casually visit his garden to film and have dinner with Peter makes me green with envy! Seriously though, it was an absolute pleasure to watch this. I have been going through your library, as I only discovered your channel a few months ago. You are quickly becoming my favorite bonsai channel!
WOOOOWWW...This Young man is sooo lucky to have met Peter Chan. People are crazy about meeting celebrities etc., for me meeting Horticulture Celebrities is such a rush. Amazing, incredible. So lucky. Not into Hollywood stars, but im into Horticulture Stars.
Great, very enjoyable-you cut paste smuggler you! I've been to Herons a few times and Peter is always so generous with his time talking to everyone who visits. I hope I have his energy when I'm 81
Living in a rural area of France it is not easy to find bonsai substrates. The materials are heavy and postage expensive. What a relief when I heard Peter say that many of the trees were planted in garden compost. Brilliant. I now mix a bit of substrate with the compost. The bonus is my trees are doing much better. Happy days!
I live in central France and i use cat litter with French builders sand (more like sharp sand in UK) and some fine compost, seems to work great on most things.
Adam, I have been to Herons a few times and Peter is extremely nice, gave us a lot of time and his experience as we brought an old Japanese white pine the first time and a very old field grown redwood, it took a while to extract it roots and pot out of the ground. I must say your video was a delight, well done.
Hey, Adam, I'm 2 years younger than Peter, and, watching this video and your keen interest in the world of Bonsai, I couldn't help but envy you (sorry). I have been in and out of bonsai for some 40 years but knowing the time frames of seeing bonsai mature, I am running out of time. Love bonsai long and hard; there is a huge reward for you. Cheers, young man!
Hi Eric. Thank you! Bonsai sure takes a long time but there is always time to do some refinment to a tree! Even though we may not see the finished product of our work, I think that it is a nice feeling to know that someday it will look good! Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
What a pleasant surprise! Heron’s and your interview Peter Chan. Nice to see him and Heron’s from your point of view and learn a bit more about him. There is a bonsai nursery in Nottingham, Greenwood. Have you seen that channel! Thanks from Boston, Massachusetts, US
Great job Adam!! I envy you to be able to go to Herons hang with Peter and then have Dinner with him. He’s a great guy and obviously he has a great admiration for you being young and doing what you do. Keep up the great work with the video’s and blogging looks like your next new adventure. You did get my friend. I watch your videos and they are always interesting as long as you make them I will keep watching.
I'm from California and I to have been watching Peter Chan videos for about a year. I wanted to say I really enjoyed your video, especially the beginning with a brief video of Peter talking about himself. I am a Eletrcian and I never knew we shared the same trade. One day I hope to visit Herons and your video has given me more drive to do so. Thank you.
Great video Peter is the same age as me I have known him since the late 70s, I have all his books except the latest master class which I will get when I can. He is a great bonsai master but down to earth.

Legend!! What an experience you’ve had. I’m so jelly! Peter Chan is another legend and the reason I got into bonsai. I was hooked on his channel and love the way he explains things. Maybe one day I’ll check it out too and make the journey to Herons. Thanks so much for sharing this and keep up your great work 👍🍻
Thank you Tony! He is one of the main reasons I got into it also! It was a pleasure to meet him and work on trees! You should definitely visit Herons some day!
@@notionbonsai it’s great to hear. I think Peter has had a big influence on a lot of us 😊. Hopefully I’ll make it one day, it’s pretty far from Australia but I’ll head to the UK again one day and will make it to Herons 😁👍

Great video, I've watched Peter's videos for hours on end especially through the Covid lockdown and I started bonsai by being inspired by his videos, he's such a lovely man, I've now found your channel via watching one of Peter's and I'll follow your work with interest, cheers.
Hi Adam, I love Peter Chan. He loves his maples and that is one of my favorite bonsai trees also. You are becoming one of my favorite bonsai guys to watch now also. Thank you for the great videos.
Great video and how nice for Peter to do an interview with you brilliant. I’m going to visit Heron bonsai when I’m in Surrey for my treatment then visit Peter on the way home. Superb bonsai trees 🙏🏻🎋
It's really cool that you were able to do the vlog in his facility and even cooler that you got to spend all that one on one time with him. Your two channels were the first channels I watched when getting onto Bonsai, so to be able to see a colab like this was really cool.

Once you start thinking about plants and horticulture...the only thing that makes you sad is that you don't have enough years of life left to be able to grow all the gardens and bonsai's you want.
