    for a ultimate pad get a roll of 3d mesh. but a roll off wider reflectix and make an evelope for mesh to sit inside. very light weight and creates a nice airgap

    Thanks about the rubber paint to stop the reflectix from sliding all over the place.
    It’s the only con I have for reflectix

    The mylar works best when it's close, but not touching the skin, so the fleece is a great idea.

    When the fleece gets wet or damp it’s going to take a while to dry out. I used a piece of scrap foam underlayment for floating laminate floors under my tent. It’s about 3/16” thick. I may try cutting a piece the size of my air pad with reflectix glued on as well.

      Interesting, isn't the underlayment also a vapor barrier? That would seem to make a good option.

    Any ideas on how to just stay comfortable when sleeping under the stars while it's warm out.

      Lightweight gear really. A non thermal pad. Check out the V static pad video, that might be an option. ruclips.net/video/5V8-yfBesQo/видео.html

    What glue did you use?

      I used a spray adhesive, 3M brand I believe

    In a hammock would you put the reflectix on the bottom between layers of double layered hammock and closed foam pad on top or the other way round?

    • @Hobbitbuilds
      @Hobbitbuilds  4 года назад

      foam pad on bottom, then reflectix.

    • @thenicx
      @thenicx 4 года назад

      But when I layered it this way round (sleeping bag, foam, reflectix) there was condensation between the foam and reflectix, so if I reversed it surely I’d end up with a wet sleeping bag, and what use would the foam on the outside be doing ...it can’t provide comfort padding or instant warmth or air space....surely it needs to be inside the reflectix to do this?

    • @Hobbitbuilds
      @Hobbitbuilds  4 года назад

      @@thenicx hmmm, maybe not. Condensation occurs when the heat is meeting the air. If you are transferring heat through the reflectix and then to the pad, you may still get condensation but still on the outside of the pad. But that should be very little as most heat should be between you and pad.

    You'd have to be a hobbit not to crush those air bubbles sleeping on it on the hard ground. This RUclips BS. It's not even cheap to buy because you get more than you need. Carry a zpad or diy closed cell pad and an emergency blanket and stop trying to get clicks with dumb ideas. I've insulated entire basements with that stuff. It's great but it isn't gonna hold up to laying down and tossing on it during multiple nights sleep if even one night. I've knelt on that stuff and it pops. Please

    • @luc1ferblack
      @luc1ferblack Год назад

      Its pretty strong and will hold weight without popping if you sitting on it but no not if your kneeling on it
