This is the best Battlefield. They should just redo this and make more maps. Don't change anything else. No BF has come close to the action and fun this game gave us all.
bf1 was pretty fun with my boys on launch - but yeah bf2 gave us sdk & tons of mods / total conversions - i played in a mil sim group that made their own tc (total conversion or mod) then their own maps for tourney rounds on saturdays with weeklong tactical training within your command structure - fun times! 👨🏻✈✈

It built on the great OG, Bf1942. Bf2 was not a bad game and added good stuff like the comrose, but it did also start to add a lot of unnecessary bits, like ribbon pop-ups, which would be better left at after combat screen. I also hate seeing points and skulls in the newer games that try to drug you with rewards instead of immersive gameplay. Too much information, like seeing enemies on minimap - constantly watching it takes you out of the IG world. Spotting would've been better as a range on the compass. And it started the focus on static squads, when I think they should've focused on team & classes which makes people bungle in natural squads/waves. To be fair, it's also the game with the most classes so it did mostly good there. The most irritating with this squad focus is that they made squads a spawn place that every Bf has continued. It disrupts the game when people can sneak through and pop up from nowhere, and also it removes a lot of value from the medic. Why did they not go for transport-spawn-vehicles at least?
I remember watching my dad play this when I was a kid. He was so good and used to just destroy in every game. Every now and then he would let me play and I would just die over and over. Good memories

It's why most gameplay videos of modern BF games are always one guy running around kill-streaking like it's a CoD game. They dumbed down the franchise to appeal to a wider audience and it worked, but at the expensive of losing a truly unique franchise that perfectly struck a balance between arcade and milsim.

I've played every Battlefield to varying degrees and BF2 is by far my all time favourite. As someone already said, it's the perfect mix between mil sim and arcade game. You could still be sneaky and tactical with the way you moved around the map on this game. No 3d spotting system, actual wide flanks and space between flags you could use to your advantage, no scope glare on the snipers so you could actually be more tactical in your repositioning etc. 2142 right after I also loved, and BF3 though had a few things I didn't like compared to 2, was still an amazing game. BFV and especially BF2042 have been immense downward trends and since the old DICE team have left, and the franchise is now in the hands of an ex CoD lead dev, it's looking doomed for the franchise sadly. Each game will bring out more aggressive microtransactions and skins for characters and weapons that do not fit the tone of a military game. CoD 2.0 in the next couple of titles mark my words.

@@adimain0340 I find sp lets plays more entertaining to watch than mp especially when the person makes funny jokes and comments about the characters, dialogues and other things in S and because its to see them discovering new things compared to MP which feels repitive to watch them play.
Honestly so glad i got to experience bf2, i was born in 2007 but god am i lucky to have played bf2 even tho it was against AI i loved every single moment of it
I learned to fly a helicopter in BF2. When I decided to take lessons for real I could pretty much fly the real bird. My instructor was amazed. I think it took me only 4-5 hours of practice in the real thing to get comfortable in it. BF2 saved me about $4k in training for my rotorcraft rating.
My favourite multiplayer military FPS after Delta Force 2 based on gameplay not graphics This game was released in 2005 so its really old but the MP gameplay is far more enjoyable that all the other BF games combined

Then after gamespy shut down I returned after a year and played the full game but then they killed it of again. The problem with BF developers is that they thing their new games are good but their new games are very bad. It all started from BF4 when they started copying call of duty style games. Today their games are a total disaster. Battlefield 2 multiplayer were the good times. I also tried to buy 2042 and it was a complete nightmare so I refunded the game. The next game I'm planning to try out is Squad because it looks like a polished version of BF2
Played this so much. And DotA. Something happened over the past 20 years with the people playing online. Friendly teamwork is mostly extinct. It's probably too complex for a simple explanation, but for us in Europe, Russia getting internet was not good for teamwork. I feel blessed I got to experience this era with my friends.
It's the way the games are designed and naturally condition you to play. They don't make them like this anymore, even Battlefield has turned to CoD style run and gun instant action even on the large maps. It's all about engagement because they don't believe a large enough audience will play a game with the pace of Battlefield 2. Money money money.
There was a bootleg version of this on all the computers in my highschool. Some of my favorite memories were playing TDM while the Comp Science teacher just sat at her desk ignoring us xD

One time I unknowingly illegally downloaded this and BF vietnam, 1942 and MOH allied assault, along with something called a torrent, a patch for 1942 and a BF2 mod that was supposed to allow 64 player maps on bot mode. My dad and brother said they recieved E-mails from our ISP about illegal downloading and they told me to delete everything and never do it again or our internet would be shut off.
I played this over 10 years stopped playing for 3 years and I started playing again. It's the best multiplayer game there is. I'm so good with jet it's ridiculous. The new battlefield games disappointed me every time. Not this game.

BF2 is the sole reason im a gamer at 30 years old now. This game was like the most inovative game at its age by far. The most fun i had with a game.

Grenade spam only came in when DICE let some other studio patch the game. The game used to play way better before the most recent patches.
