Awesome!! I am glad my tutorials helped you make your decision 😁 Also, please be sure to use a discount code from a Glowforge owner to save $500 on your Pro. If you don't have one from a friend already, you can use mine and yes you can still apply a code even if you've already bought it (that's what I had to do). So exciting and welcome to the Glowforge World!
Welcome to the Glowforge family!! I help out in the Facebook group Glowforgers using Silhouette Studio too if you'd like to join us there for more help and tips :)
@@trenfo74947 yes I defocus for all acrylic, mirrored too. I typically do a small circle with a letter engraved to test my cut and defocus settings before running the real job.
I've done everything identically to you, any tips on why when I saved it as an svg in Silhouette Studio and then uploaded to GF the MOM letters are just outlined? I made them the color black. I'd like for them to be engraved, but it looks like it's just going to engrave the outline of the letters...? Thanks!
Glowforge updated the user interface since this video. If it is showing outline in blue when you upload the file, then that should indicate it is going to engrave correctly. I suggest trying one before running a batch to be sure!
Is the I Love Glitter font the only one that you can use to do the attached heart? Or is there another hack for using with other fonts to get the attached heart?
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial it has helped me so much!! If I were wanting to make multiple keychains with different names on them would there be a simple way to do that? Do I need to do each one separately or can I do more than one at a time?
I would make multiple copies of the MOM part before it is altered but after that, each will need to be offset and subtracted with the particular names. An alternative way would be if you just want to split mom in half then put the names straight down the middle. Then you could change out the names easier. You would need to use the knife tool, in solid mode, to split MOM then just pull the top part up some to create the gap.
Yes! See what look you like the most, but I have used oil based paint pens to fill in the engraving from the back side. I have also applied vinyl to the front before. I've seen other ppl use resin too
I get my acrylic from Cerulean Tides so I use the suggestions on their website. So the last cake topper I cut was 1/8" gold mirror and I used their recommended setting of PG medium red
what do you do if you have say 4 or 5 names but dont want to make key chain huge nor making writing too small? Any tricks or is there a video done with multiple names? Thank you for making this .so helpful !!
Sorry, I do not use that program so I would be in the same boat as you! Silhouette Studio is much more user friendly. If you want to give it a shot, the basic version is free and the upgrade need to Business Edition is a one time fee, usually $48
@@LadyCrockettCrafts I have the pro too. I'm wondering if my default setting is different because my machine isn't on. New to the glowforge thanks for the help!
Good question! I went back to another video where I had discussed the difference between SD and HD and saw that the settings did used to be 1000/full for SD. I checked my GF app today and it is now as you stated. This must be a change they made as the laser has updated. That's a great catch to realize when saving custom settings, I'll need to make sure they're all updated.

I've been at this for over an hour. I get stuck on the subtracting step. It won't subtract as easily as you did in the video. It subtracts "OM" and everything in it. Any insight as to what I'm doing wrong?
A little bit difficult without being able to see what's happening but if you're in the Facebook group Glowforgers using Silhouette Studio upload a video and I can help better. Otherwise, I think you somehow ungrouped the letters of Mom. Select letters in the word Mom and make sure they are all moving together. If they arent retype the word Mom and try again
Until today I am not decided to buy a Glowforge but after I saw some of your video tutorial i bought a Glowforge Pro right now!!! Thanks!!!

Wow, this was awesome!! I don't use that software but was able to follow along in Illustrator. You are the best!
Aw yay! I am happy to hear that. Thanks for watching 😁
You are so clear with instruction. You have truly taught me a lot about cut outs and my glowforge. Ty ty ty

Hi Vanna, great tutorial. I’m getting better at designing!!! It just takes time and practice!
Hey!! Did you ever give it another try? Post it in the Facebook group if so!
Awesome tutorial, I love how you explain everything ! Make more videos :)
Thank you so much for watching!
I decided to start early on Christmas orders so I hope to find time to make more videos again soon! 😳😆🤶
Your videos have saved my life!!!! Thanks. 👍😍
Yayyy!! I'm so glad 🙌🙌
Thank you so much for the infor
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 😁
Thanks for the tutorial. You said you did not want to defocus to what your normally do. Please share what you normally defocus to? TIA
Usually I go up by .2 so .125 becomes .325. I was concerned with jumping that much using the thin font but it might have worked :)
@@LadyCrockettCrafts Thank you. I appreciate it. Do you do the same for color acrylic?

Newbie question here what is that what thing you were peeling at the end? Is that like a mask the acrylic comes with?
Yep you got it! Since this was material from Glowforge (called Proofgrade) it comes masked already.
Lady Crockett Crafts ahhhhhh perfect
Is the I Love Glitter font the only one that you can use to do the attached heart? Or is there another hack for using with other fonts to get the attached heart?
There are other fonts that include heart glyphs too. The other I use often is called Oh Juliya, it is a bit thicker too.
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial it has helped me so much!! If I were wanting to make multiple keychains with different names on them would there be a simple way to do that? Do I need to do each one separately or can I do more than one at a time?

Can you add color to the back of the keychain
Yes! See what look you like the most, but I have used oil based paint pens to fill in the engraving from the back side. I have also applied vinyl to the front before. I've seen other ppl use resin too
What setting you recommend when using mirror acrylic
I get my acrylic from Cerulean Tides so I use the suggestions on their website. So the last cake topper I cut was 1/8" gold mirror and I used their recommended setting of PG medium red
what do you do if you have say 4 or 5 names but dont want to make key chain huge nor making writing too small? Any tricks or is there a video done with multiple names? Thank you for making this .so helpful !!
I would do two names connected on one line then two/three names on a second line and center or align the two rows
Name1
@@LadyCrockettCrafts Thank you :)
What were you peeling away from the keychain?
It is masking material. The proofgrade material from GF comes masked on both sides.
Any possible way you could show how to do this with Vectornator on iPad Pro? I’m so lost.

Hello. Nice design. How do you make it to have the option to have your file saved in svg. Thanks.
You need the Business Edition of Silhouette Studio to save files as svgs
@@LadyCrockettCrafts Thanks
@@vincentvanherreweghe1572 BTW, usually the cheapest place to buy the upgrade to Business Edition, which is a one-time fee, is at swingdesign.com
What size acrylic do you use?
This was 1/8" but the 1/4" is more durable. If you need to mail it, I suggest bubble wrap and sandwiching between cardboard.
What type of Glowforge do you have? my medium clear acrylic default settings are different. Thanks
I have the Pro. The default setting is 1000/full/focus .125. I clicked on a saved custom setting for this is why it popped up different to begin with.
