- From former Premier League star and Spanish international Michu to two-time Bundesliga and 2014 World Cup winner Kevin Grosskreutz, HITC Sevens takes a look at a number of players from the world of football / soccer who suffered significant falls from grace since the year 2010 as we approach the end of the decade.
“Turan was banned from Turkey for 3 years after firing a gun in a hospital.”
Me: I’m sorry what?
who knew Arda Turan would go full Joker
Yup someone needs to do a video on him.. maybe Tifo. He grabbed journalists by the throat, flirted with a singers wife and then visit him in the hospital and shot a gun, he assaulted a referee, he’s still wanted in Turkey and can serve 15 years if guilty
Typical Turkish
David Clinging Thats a direct quote from the video ya dumb. I don’t know if he’s been banned or not and frankly I don’t fucking care. It’s crazy either way.
aberjack92 bruh wtf
The streets won’t forget that 12/13 season.
- Lukaku carrying West Brom on his back.
- Michu with his trademark celebration whilst Swansea playing like Barcelona.
- Bale cutting inside and scoring with no. 11 and a perfect haircut instead of number 3 and playing left-back.
- Suarez, the scoring machine.
- RvP at his absolute peak, with the number 20 bringing number 20 for Man Utd.
Might not be one of the best title races in the Premier League history, but it was a pleasure seeing strikers banging in goals, even from smaller teams.
Omar Rashid Messi also scored his 91st goal and wins Golden Boot.
“The streets” shut up man
But the worst season for one of the best epl striker of all time, sergio aguero. Being injured almost half of the season really helped man united won the league easily. Plus I don’t get why no club take michael laudrup as their manager, swansea gameplay was so good to watch. I fancy him alot
Loved watching Swansea. Ki, Dyer, Vorm, Sigurdson, Williams. Was a fun team to watch, always like the way Ki played

@@sayidluthfi he s been condemned to 2 years but he s going to do them when ge retires from football
Emil Farshad Dehghani so what?
For those coming to this video in the present day, and want updates.
Michu works as a Director of Football for Burgos in La Liga 2, Arda Turan retired after the 21/22 season with Galatasaray, Jackson Martinez retired after the 19/20 season with Portimonense, Bojan currently plays for Vissel Kobe alongside La Masia comrade Samper and Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta, Joe Hart (as people probably know) plays for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, Grosskreutz now plays for Bövinghausen in the regional 5th tier of Germany, Anderson retired after the 19/20 season with Adana Demirspor having made only a few appearances each season.

My absolute favorite player back then. He was such a genius in Borussia, way better than Gundoga but his attitude wasn’t the beat and he didn’t want it that much. He went back to Borussia to his comfort zone and his career pretty much died out.
You should do this but with teams instead

The Emperor, Adriano. Surely the absolute best player ever to bow out at such a young age.

He broke down after his father's death. He went to win brazilian Serie A in 2009, retiring soon after. He lost his love for the game. He made his money, he's still sponsored by Adidas, and he lives in the neighbourhood where he grew up. The guy is an overall winner.

Moist_Balls they just don’t have the football culture
@@sgtass1 Lack of footballing culture. One of China's most notable players, Wu Lei, finally broke a 10 year goal drought for all Chinese players in European leagues and there's not many others around who can contribute to this.
They've started to address it this year but will be a long time till we see it pay off. Guangzhou built a massive centre with Real Madrid's help and staffed it with Spanish football coaches. But they're playing catch up and it will require lots of investment in time and resources. Europe alone has multiple institutions and football philosophies, nevermind South America etc.
Surely Adam Johnson should top this list? From Man City to prison, doesn't get worse than that.

Affelay was a good player who was a solid player at Barcelona. I remember when he first joined and put in some really good performances. Unfortunately that knee injury ruined all that.
@@Antoto96 yeah, that was really unlucky to him, it's like Abou Diaby (Arsenal player), that I didn't mention who was a really good player, but injuries ruined him
Was never that great
I think Affelay is a shout. He´s rejoined and subsequently left PSV this year after being injured/unfit most of the season, he´s not on any real level of play anymore.
Roberto soldado could be a shout, was really good for Valencia but that move to spurs killed his career.

Anyone can thrived in farmer league. Epl is a monstrous competitive league. No wannabe or farce can survive
Where is Wilfried Bony and Andre Schurrle?
irvanCrocs bony went to Man City ,.he didn’t fall anywhere
@@dwaynedibley997 Yes he went to City, but it's being dowhill from there, he then getting loaned to stoke and then back to swansea after only making 36 appereances and 6 goals only for over 2 years, for a player who cost more than 25 million euros that's a failure. He is then being sent to Newport County, a league two club, going from one of best premiere league side to the club who play in lowest division of the English Football League. Now he is in middle of nowhere playing for Al-Arabi, how is that not a failure? With that logic Arda Turan should not be in this list since he went to Barcelona, or even Jackson Martinez who went to Atletico before he failed..
irvanCrocs don’t be fooled by his fake African DOB when he moved to Man City he was already well into his 30’s and well into being finished.. it was a great move for him with good wages so he’s a winner all around
irvanCrocs Bonys career was already over , Turan and Martinez were at thier peaks, nothing alike
@@dwaynedibley997 What are you talking about? He born in 1988, he was 27 when he moved to City and not even close for being 30, that's literally the peak age for any footballers. Meanwhile Arda Turan (1987) and Martinez (1986) were older than Bony when they moved to Barca and Atletico, they also moved to both club at 2015 same year as Bony moved to City, also there is no real thing to prove about he is faking his birth either unless you have solid proof about it..
Surprised that Falcao wasn't even mentioned, during his times at Porto and Atlético he was considered one of (if not the best) strikers in the world, he was fifth place in Ballon d'Or 2012 (only behind xavi, iniesta, ronaldo and messi), but when he moved to Monaco he had a terrible injury that destroyed his career, he missed 2014 World Cup (which Colombia classified to thanks to his astounding performance at South American Qualifiers) and was out for around six months, and when he got back he didn't play well so he went on loan to Manchester United and then Chelsea (complete failures), when he got back to Monaco it was obvious that his level was not the same as before even if he scored some goals, and now he plays in Galatasaray, where he has been filled with injuries and hasn't played that much...
Even in Colombian National Team he doesn't play that much anymore
Steven Nzonzi, from world champion to fired by Galatasary in 1 1/2 year

Yeah, Pato definitely deserves mention. He was so hyped up when he joined Milan, but only ever lived up to that for a brief time. His injury problems totally killed his European career and his stardom. It was all so unfortunate. It's good to see that he is at least still playing top-flight football back in Brazil.
Pato failed in Brazil as well. He was nearly beaten up in Corinthians FC years ago for lazyness.

Think about some of the players on 2010-12 Dortmund. Kagawa, Felipe Santana, Nuri Sahin. Hard to fault them, but they all fell off after they left Dortmund. Even Mario Gotze to some extent, but hard to match that high a form he reached with BVB when moving to Bayern.
The thing with Kagawa at Manchester was that he was never really used centrally (maybe sporadically). He was often placed out wide, which isnt bad because he has the skillset. But he excelled at Dortmund playing the at the 10.

Oscar chose to leave his football ambitions and just pile some money to retire after Brazil got humiliated in the 2014 WC. It really got to him. He never fell. He basically chose to go to exile.
He is by no means falling from grace. He just made a different career path by his own choice.
Oscar is a farce

Bojan is probably the most painful fall from grace out of all of them
T.J. King Yeah he was so good as a kid but at the top level he had 0 consistency

Bojan is the never ending promise. I don't think he qualyfies for this video
Call me crazy but I think his career would have turned out a lot differently had his goal against Inter in 2010 stood, as it should have. Think about the status Sergi Roberto has now, just because of that goal he scored against PSG.
Bojan would have been a legend; scores the game winning goal to qualify Barça for the Final, where they most likely beat Bayern Munich and be the first team to defend a Champions League, in the Santiago Bernabeu. He probably goes on to at least play as a super sub for Barça with this goal alone.
Still the greatest injustice Barça have suffered. Shame VAR wasn't a thing back then, it might have saved Bojan's career :'(
Adrian - A legend at the hammers and 2nd choice for spain to end up being liverpool's 4th choice keeper

Pascal Chimbonda. Premier League to Level 9-10 on the English football pyramid in the past decade. Remarkable really. He was decent in the Premier League as well for a host of clubs. Tbf, who wouldn’t want to go to a big club like bayern. Plus, bayern always gives opportunity for young players to play. The problem is him, he never perform when he’s given the chance
Answer is simple: money for him or (and that's maybe a key in his case) for his manager
Van Der Vaart was great for Ajax, HSV and Tottenham. Okay not so much after his 30s, but this guy is one of the most capped players in Dutch squad history.

7 bench players who are pure talent and can make the starting 11 of any team
I’d have been up for the Grosskreutz video, still baffled by his career
I think a case could be made for several dutch players who were in the 2010 WC final.
Stekelenburgs fall from wc final goalkeeper to full time bench goalkeeper came rather quickly as well with the former dutch first goalkeeper with picking up just 104 matchcaps since leaving Ajax in 2011 and nearly half of those caps (49) coming from his time at AS Roma. Whilst one might argue that Stekelenburg has been at top league clubs, if Joe Hart makes the list, Stekelenburg definitely should because Stekelenburg had a higher peak achievement and a quicker fall.
Affelay could join the list of great prospects who made big transfers and then fell off the wagon due to injury.
Finally Van der Wiel could definitely make this list but his rise and fall were both more gentle.

Shakhtar Donetsk in 2016
Apparently Sheffield Wednesday are interested in him. I hope nothing comes of it because he's garbage.
Of course shouldn’t of left been training with Newport lol
...and what about Bafetimbi Gomis (he used to to the lion crawl and roar on the ground after scoring a goal!!)
Yoann Gourcuff could've been a shout for this as well
He fell off because of injuries
Dubbed the next Zidane. It's sad what injuries did to him he is currently clubless after getting released due to an injury.
Worst than this players is Jan Kirchhoff
.
He´s playing in Germany´s 4th division
Bernardo Viana lol he didn’t get anywhere as good as Turan or Grosskreuts
When was Jan Kirchoff good exactly? He started off shit and got shitter.
@@chrisadlc1 He won everything with Bayern.
Yannick Bolasie
He fell off frl
Hes still at a mediocre team. Sporting, Portugal
Worked his way up, got that big move and then got a horrific leg injury. He deserved better
Unlucky with the severe injury.
He is on Sporting
Man I thought you had missed Anderson, I was going to mention him and maybe Nani here... But yeah Nani would have been bit Harsh even though he never lived upto his Potential he was Instrumental for both Portugal and United in this decade, did well for Sporting and is doing decent at Orlando too... Maybe he just peaked too soon rather than a fall from grace
Nihar Gawand imo Manu under Moyes destroyed both Anderson and Nani’s career just like a lot of other manu’s players
thangchano Anderson’s career was already destroyed before Moyes came
Nani yes Anderson hell no. Ando was long gone before moyes.
He peaked too soon and also wasn't managed at all well by managers post-Ferguson. Maybe also a lack of character to perform despite the poor state United have been in.
Nani was key in euros. 3 goals tied with cr7. Club, he was bad
No 1 should have definitely been Adam Johnson though. The city lad
What the hell happened to Man Utd this decade???
This isn't oh my goal
Wrong channel buddy😂😂
Go away 😂😂😂
I love porn

Großkreutz pretty mich buried his career himself through all of His numerous scandals. He threw a Döner Kebab at some Dude, was involved in multiple Fights and to top it all off, He visited a brothel with the U17 Squad while at stuttgart
I hate it that this rumours are still believed as real facts. He never threw the Kebab and he wasn't involved in so many fights as you are suggesting. Also, the whole squad isn't true either ... he was there with only two players.
Jesse Lingard : (chuckles) im in danger
in order to fall you have to rise first, lingard haven't done it once in his career 😂😂
@@akshayshirodkar4601 He's only young...
He’s scored in 3 Wembley finals, scored for England in The World Cup and once scored 4 in one game for Birmingham so I’d say he has.
Phil England he’s 27 he’s not young😂

Eamonn Smyth fr tho bro has more red cards than i have christmas cards
Joel Campbell Costa Rica/Arsenal
he was never that good, just had a good world cup in 2014
@@payetsquaddd164 'just'?
Hes still got time. Arsene ruined him
No chance Lol Playing at a good level still
I'd mention also Mastour and Halilovic, both passed to AC Milan like Bojan Krkic, Balotelli, Pato and many others
Do the best players from the 2014 world cup that we haven't heard of since
Παναγιώτης Γεωργίου Kramer played for Gladbach they are on the Second Place in the Bundesliga
@Παναγιώτης Γεωργίου I still remember Kramer scoring an own goal from 40 yards out like a boss in the league.
Παναγιώτης Γεωργίου commas! I thought this was one person
Großkreutz wasn't a really talented player but he was workhorse klopp got the best out of him and played every single position for Dortmund and a true Dortmund Legend
a true utility player.
German James Milner
@@tehcreaturesifyHD perfect discription👍🏻

@@tehcreaturesifyHD Perfect description mate.
Balotelli is a great enigma. A true fall from grace. Even Mancini befriending him couldn’t help.
Every Sunderland player of the last 10 years. All of them
Dale Jennings rated as the best from league 1 in 2010 or 2011, gets a big move to Bayern Munich. Gets knocked back by ligament injuries in his knee. Then his daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia so he stopped playing for 2 years. Now resumed his career at Runcorn Town in the 9/10th divisions in English football
That is so sad. I hope she won this battle?
Remember watching him for a season at Barnsley
Ben Arfa, Gourcuff and Sanogo (ex-Arsenal player), and I can list way more players...
Wilfried Bony and Andre Schurrle
@@irvancrocs1753 Mandzukic, Oscar, Affelay
@@arnaudrld9324 Mandzukic ????
@@slslskspslba2407 yes because he is still a very good player, but he destroyed his career by going to Al Duhalil in Qatar, when he could've got the possibility to go to a really decent club that figures in the top 5 leagues in the world 🤷🏾♂️
Arnaud Reland naww not mandzukic...carved out a decent career for himself✌🏽
Nice video mate!
Grosskreutz is still a legend in Dortmund he will always be a Dortmunder Junge🖤💛
This video and the comments below show us that the real rarity is the player who remains at the top of the game for any duration of time. These were all great players who faced a bit of bad luck (injuries) or some other situation and now find themselves off the top shelf. It's remarkable that we have consistent squad players like Ngolo Kante, Sergio Busquets, Thomas Muller, being workhorses year in year out. For each Jamie Vardy out there, there are 1,000 Grant Holt's...good solid guys who have a few flash in the pan seasons, who would school you out on the five a side pitch today, and who brought a lot of joy and memories to all of us.
Should do a part 2 this was a good idea and very intrestinf
One of my top picks would be Shinji Kagawa, of United and Dortmund fame, now playing for Real Zaragoza in the 2nd division in Spain.
RUclips: “How many ads do you want?”
HITC Sevens: “Yes”
Michu was my second ever match attack, next to jermaine pennant. I remember that atletico side in 2013/14 that we’re so good. And i bought jackson martinez in my arsenal career modes for giroud.
Mr Paus jermaine pennant🤣 scored a hatrick on his debut whilst hungover
IShowAndProve Paha read about that in an interview with FourFourTwo, so funny
strikers who have scored the most goals this decade
Yes but it should be outside of Messi and Ronaldo
Messi 576
Ronaldo 554
Ibrahimovic 450
Lewandowski 382
Cavani 359
Suarez 353
Aguero 311
@@arnonym8098 they must have played striker for than 7 of the 10 years so no messi

Believe it or not he has been playing great lately. Bruno Lage revived his career.
Pz123 hold up didn’t he play for qpr?
The perfect example of a player who couldn't adapt to the prem. The guy was an absolute monster in the championship but seemed like a completely different player after getting promoted. What a shame.
Revival
I'm sad for Pato, this year in São Paulo he was garbage, even Dani Alves was bad this season, but both of then has the capacity to turn this around
DINHO 003 damn really? How did Juanfran do?
