I only wish I would have picked up on your channel much sooner. What a great help and service you provide to retail investors like myself - it helps level the field from the sharks and the big boys. Good on you my friend!! I am a subscriber forever.

    You are 1 of a few that make up my 'think tank', when it comes to my dividend growth portfolio. Trimming overpriced positions here, initiating (or adding to) a position there. Thanks for all you do! "Quality First, Valuation Second, Monitor Always!".....

    I look forward to your videos, and have watched them all I think. Thank you so much for giving us your sage wisdom, and so much useful information and perspective! I am 58, and only started dividend value investing four years ago. In this current bear market, and the 2020 and 2018 corrections, I can hear your advice, and it has served me well. My portfolio is still 56% in the green (divs included), proof that "valuation matters, and it matters a lot!"). Sending you more gratitude than I can ever repay.

    Hi Chuck, I just wanted to pass on to you my deepest appreciation and thanks for your hard work. I've been investing for about 5 years now and with all the research and learning I've done I still consider myself a novice with much to learn. I can positively say though, that no other person has taught me so much about the many tools and ways to properly value a company. Your videos are a must for anyone looking to improve their investment skills. Again you thank you.

    I cannot stress it enough, if an investor has time on their side then making money in a bear market or even a RECESSION is e a s y. Buy into quality companies and hold. A matter of fact, enjoy the opportunity to invest into them at such steep discounts. Far too many try to get rich by Tuesday and it crushes their opportunities at true wealth generation!

    Hey Chuck! Love the Veuve Clicquot shirt!! I like the content even more as this strategy is right in my wheelhouse. I started out value investing doing it the hard way i.e. when someone asked Warren Buffett where they should start, I believe he said "Start with the A's". Although I learned a lot doing it this way for a couple of years, I am now on the lookout for those solutions that will give me more time with my family. I think I have done enough due diligence now to realize that FAST Graphs should be part of my investing system. Stay safe and test negative. Cheers!

    Chuck -- thanks for the great video. I would be very interested in your comments about investing in attractively priced stocks versus keeping cash on hand. Lots of good bargains available now, but if you have been fully invested and remain so then you may not have a lot of funds that are available to take advantage of the bargains. How do you manage this? Have you been selling stocks that are still over-valued in this bear market to free up funds to take advantage of more attractively priced opportunities? Thank you!

    Thank you Chuck! Thanks for the reminder in your video today that you dont mind if the stock continues to fall. I have to keep reminding myself of that - and especially to remind myself, that I'll be kicking myself in 2 years if and when the market has recovered and i'll be wondering why I didn't throw more dry powder into the market when I could have. My difficulty now is to try and cancel out the noise - I just need to buy regularly all the way down but it's so hard to tune out everyone else "waiting" for a certain price - making me hesitant to not buy at the absolute "bargain". How do you deal with that?

    • @christopherconnolly1218
      @christopherconnolly1218 2 года назад +1

      It's tough to watch long-term stocks stuck in the red. I've had XOM/CVX since 2015, and was down ~40% for a LONG time. DRIP'd during this time, and now I'm glad I held. Repeat a few of these events, and you quickly gain confidence in your decisions, and resolve to hold quality companies during the tough times. Good Luck!

    Chuck- Most investors in the 21st century should focus on total returns but there was not one mention of this key point in the video.
    For example, one of your examples as a company with consistent dividend growth was Leggett & Platt. According to FASTgraphs, over the last 20 years LEG had a total compound return of 4.87% per year. On the other hand, an investor could have just invested in SPY and earned 6.96%. Investing in LEG would have resulted in missing out on 2+% per year in returns while taking single stock risk.
    Using FASTgraphs to find stocks at attractive evaluations is great but it’s Total returns- dividends AND growth that investors should focus on…

    Great videos Chuck, I think you are a voice in the woods, to help us see the daylight. My question is why do you think some of these are down, just because the market is down? Some of those have specific concerns like MMM with the EPA lawsuits. Just pointing out that not all is due to just the market being down. SWK down because of I assume the connecting with housing right? It would be helpful to know more about the businesses and how they can continue growing over the next 10 years. I guess I have to ask myself was does Buffet not own any of these?
    VFC do they have good brands? TROW, how will they continue to compete with BLK and the ETF world? Those are more my concerns, thoughts please? Am I over thinking this?

    • @FASTgraphs
      @FASTgraphs  2 года назад +1

      for starters the stock you are citing were all greatly overvalued and therefore vulnerable to any negative catalyst. So as Mr. Valuation I would contend that overvaluation is the primary culprit.
      With that said, as you suggested each company does have issues. The real question is will they destroy the company or simply a temporary problem that needs to be solved. I think the companies you mentioned will all be doing business long after you and I are pushing up Daisy's. so I'm not sure I would say you're overthinking, because I believe that nothing replaces comprehensive research and due diligence..
      On the other hand, I could argue that you being perhaps overly paranoid not necessarily for the short run but for the longer run. Hope that helps, Chuck

    Keep the dry powder as there will most likely be better values in the future. 2Q earnings about to kick off and we’ll see how they match up with expectations and future guidance. Analysts should start to lower earnings expectations going forward, so while we have seen a PE multiple contraction, we have not factored in a lower E. Wait for something to break and the Fed to reverse course on rate increases.
