Merv was ridiculous! Mark was a beast! When Merv left it just wasn't the same sound anymore. They were missing his tone.
Merv second tenor was very strong. He sang a lot of his parts natural and not a falsetto, which matched Mark's powerful (2nd) first tenor.
I thought claude was an exceptional replacement though

To my opinion those thundercats are STILL young at heart, and as cats STILL thundering! Adding to that, they matured, have grown into and now rightfully so own their place within so many styles! It's incredible! If I'd be a man I'd say;" I take my hat of, gentlemen!". Hearing their version of a piece of Tsjaikovski(!), unchain my heart of Ray Charles, the Grinch-melody or Beautiful day! They came along with time!!!☑️😃 If you want them to "stick to their first two or three albums"... It makes me wonder if you are open to maturing as a facture in your own life...🤔
I'm sorry, it might come accross as a bit edgy - but so does your remark. Next to that, I've noticed this EXACT SAME REMARK (!) placed beneath other performances of take 6 by you. It's almost like you actually have got something personal against the group or one of them! If THAT would be the case, wouldn't there be a more appropriate way to settle "it"?
And they're artists! Wether they're painters or musicians, they NEED to grow! And they've got a right to! They've got my compliments! And I'm greatfull that as listeners; "we're still allowed "in" 🤗".
And, if you prefer them in 1988/1989/1990, I hope you will realize that after a "30+years" of entertainment- THEY'RE STILL TO BE FOUND WITHIN THE SUCCESFULL PEAK OF MUSICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!!
