I sincerely hope you found this video to be entertaining
Critical Nobody man I just saw your other account when u was playing humiliation game making ppl rage and I been crying laughing all morning. I'm going to suscribe to you even though I kno u don't make video's like that no more. Seem like a cool dude bro. Bit of an asshole but cool lol.
Critical Nobody where is the stab happy vids bro lol
Critical Nobody you reviewed my most favorite game
loved the video - army men games were always a guilty pleasure of mine
Critical Nobody this was one of my favorite N64 games
if you were to roll while prone it would put the fire out nearly instantly. It makes the game way more enjoyable.
Yeah, but that would involve stopping what you were doing. Then, dropping into the prone position and finally doing a roll. Who could have worked out that maze of options to extinguish the fire? Literally unplayable 9/10
@@StrontiumJaguar Is this a joke, or are you serious? You get told as a kid to stop, drop, and roll if you ever catch on fire...
@@AsukaLangleyS02 don't assume everyone had the same upbringing as you. Not all people learn the same things.
@@serpentofares5635 it's literally taught in school...
@@serpentofares5635 You learn it at a young age and school and this game is army men which you do when you're a young kid...
GO AWAY MOM, I'M HAVING FUN
That a year later the internet has the integrity to leave this at 69 likes for an entire year, I have renewed hope in humanity.
@@SixHolyStrings
Yeah well prepare to revoke it.
1999 : Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
2018 : Rising storm 2: Vietnam Green army men
You know, in the PS1 version of the game, the Bravo Company members actually shoot back at the tan soldiers (at least I think they do)
Willem DaFuckedUp Yeah but the N64 version has better controls and better graphics
@@Persona1996
Nah, PS1 has better graphics and real cut scenes
我喜欢耶稣InfinityTemplar here r the differences between the two
N64: Better Graphics and Visibility
Better Controls (thx to analog stick) Map looks better on screen and shows the full map
PS1: Better Cutscenes Voice Acting Controller is more easy to hold
So yes the N64 is better
Ya the ps1 controls sucked but was way more refined
I enjoyed the The Play Station versions very much.
Ive played every Army Men game that has ever existed and Sarges Heroes is by far my favorite.
Agreed. I disagree with this review greatly.
Also the spider thing is easy to explain. I even knew what was up as a kid. There is a temp dial on the top of the machine they go into. Apparently it is some kind of plastic melting and remolding toy that makes toy spiders.
Good for you
I liked army men land see and air and air attack personally
Army men RTS was my favourite!
Brandon Guidry Air Attack was awesome
When the soldiers were turned into spiders they used a creepy crawly machine! Like the ones that turned liquid into hard plastic spiders. Thats a pretty cool small detail considering how this game was out when “kid appliances” were huge.
Army men: world at war is a game I DESPERATELY hoped they wouldve remastered or entirely redo one day.
I still have a ps1 copy of that game lol, good ol times with my brother. It would be pretty neat to see a new gen army men game.
I always heard the one was a glitchy mess. The PC version is better?
Someone needs to get the rights to the series sadly 3DO is not still around as for the creators of Army Men Sarges Heroes its hard to get in contact with them.
I mean, the good and evil thing between green and tan is alright. After all, the game is about a kid playing with his plastic soldiers and his imagination. Do you think he would come up with a complicated scenario with many layers of moral decisions or just be like "Bapapapapapapap GO GREENS!"?
😂👌
Strangely enough considering reviewers affinities for bad games they can make fun of not a lot of people have touched on the Army Men games and i think its kinda sad honestly considering how many of them there were
Some of the later ones are definitely ripe for digging into. Look at some of the utterly bizarre titles like "Portal Runner" and "Major Malfunction".
@pudding MiCoffee yeah, the later games in the series are really fucking weird, based on what little I've seen of them. Nobody even remembers them, it seems like after the N64/PS1 era everyone completely forgot about the entire series. Probably for the better.
I thought it was dope, as a kid growing up it's what trained me to actually use that damn controller. Which for some reason I called a paddle. Idk why. Later when I was 14/15 when I was getting into xbox, I came across a game called army men RTS, which blew my mind and got me into Starcraft, command and conquer, RPGs, really these games taught me how broad video games can be. There was this one where you flew a helicopter around all game.
Right? I maight just do something like that on my own at some point.
Sarge for Super Smash Bros should happen.
The whole “blow up doll” line made me literally laugh out loud
I am pretty sure that Spider Machine is one of those odd Plastic Bug making machines where you take hot plastic into molds or something. x'D
Odd they come out as realistic spiders though.
creepy crawlers?
11:31 homie died t posing. What a legand.
Lmao
I always thought the spider thing was a creepy crawlers machine
Yeah, I had a creepy crawler oven back in the day.
the roach enemy behind the fridge terrified me
"They're turning soldiers into spiders! That's bad... I hate spiders!"
This actually makes sense! the kid playing with the army men had just got a creepy crawlies machine for their bday or xmas!
I recall in an interview with one of the developers of Sarge's Heroes I read somewhere, he ranted about how the team really had no idea what they were doing when making the game, with the project lead bizarrely spending most of his effort on fleshing out the story and prerendered cutscenes. Mind you, said cutscenes weren't possible on the N64, and so had to be put into the delayed PS1 port. Overall a pretty disastrous project, and the lack of focus and laziness in some areas really shows through, like the lack of enemy and level variety, and animations that are haphazard even by N64 standards.
I should also point out that one of the reasons for the Army Men games being pretty crappy overall was that 3DO adopted a quantity-over-quality strategy with them, hence why there are so fucking many. As I recall 3DO aimed to try and get two entire games out per year.
Toys...the 90s were the last decade where kids played with toys. Hell, i remember playin with my batman forever\BTAS Two face action figure. Man...those were the days
Yeah, sadly now every kid has an iphone
@@Theshadowball4 hell, don't think kids see the sun anymore. I remember comin home from school and WANTIN to go outside. And no goin outside was a punishment but now a days....thats a vacation for em. Fuckin sad
I'm an 80's kid so Transformers, GI Joe, He Man, Voltron.... good times
@@pansnemesis nice
I'd say the early-mid 2000s
If you thought the spider thing was weird, then you should play some of
the other Army Men games, especially Army Men II. Those games were reeeeeeeeeeeeally messed up for being a kid's series
That's what made them great
The roaches and zombies
You are severely underrated Craig, great video
the ps1 version was definitely superior, but still has a lot of the same problems. I remember the enemies being bullet sponges and the auto aiming was much more inconsistent. there was a bit more detail and the fmv cutscenes made it far more entertaining.
And the people you rescue actually helps you in the mission.
You nailed it.
dingleberry liespewer The N64 version however had much better graphics and controls.
I used to play Army Man 2 for ages.
This was one of your best videos yet keep up the good work
I had this game for the Dreamcast and I actually remember enjoying it as a kid. I think with the quality of games today we can forget how fun some games were to play during their time, despite their flaws.
Sarge's Hero's wasn't one of the best games in the era for sure, but I thought it was pretty good. I know I played through this game at least 3-5 times. My favorite level was the fort. I remember being disappointed that the sequel to this game wasn't going to be released for my Dreamcast.
I would like to know the explanation of the Spiders though.
Oh, and one more thing. Vicki is the daughter of Sarge in this game, but she's not plastic. She actually has skin. Another mystery that needs explaining.
I saw the thumbnail to this video that was randomly jammed into my recommendations and literally gasped.
I remember this game as a child. The thumbnail started re-connecting 20+ year old memories.
I love how sarge says “Good to Go!” I enjoyed these games as a kid but your review was spot on.
Haha I managed a way to keep all the "Grey Army" soldiers with me, it wasn't easy but the help me to escort Shrap, so at the end the last two ones fight the Tan soldiers and I scaped running XD
I really enjoyed this video! Your jokes were executed well and super relatable from my memories! I related to so much in this video because I loved Sarge's Heroes when I was little.
The "Good to go" that Sarge says, the awful yet funny looking character models, the evil placement of enemies, the dang flamethrowers, the bad AI, even the little gun twirl in that little sandbox scene...it was all so wonderful to see someone bring attention to all these game's little details that I remember so well, all in an awesomely put together video!
These games are decent, it's just too bad the developers couldn't fully make it into what they may have hoped for. I dream of making at least a small remake of the first level with my experience in the Unreal or Unity game engines, just to make the game into the potential that it could be. I also made a Sarge character model so it's a possibility... But who knows, maybe I'll start on that someday!
Btw, I subscribed! Always gotta love and support good content :)
I look forward to more videos.Keep it up!
i miss my child hood, i used to have a building kits and tons of military toys, i always love sitting around in my room, just place lil army men guys around, put dominos upside down and act like sandbags, tanks and helicopters casually going through the land and jets bombing the tanned, it was the best childhood i can ever have. Im now stuck with jobs and stuffs, i rlly want to relive my childhood one more time, but i guess its not anytime soon
lol the grey guys a clearly from the neutral planet
"what makes a man go neutral?... is it the air we breathe or the world we live in?.. or were you just born with a heart full of NEUTRALITY!"
"all i know is my gut says maybe.."
@@GeneralNuisance6987 I most certainly might.
Omfg! When that menu music came on, the nostalgia just washed over me like a wave... in a pool... being delivered by a truck.
I was hit by the truck.
I can remember playing sarges war with my older brother all the time. Those were the days...
Nice video, your sense of humor makes it even better. Loved the FFX reference
They're melting the army men to turn 'em into Creepy Crawlers.
Also you gotta roll around to put the flames out.
Nick Stoltz Jesus Christ, how did I not know this?!
One of your best vids in a while :)
This was a really good one.
OH MY GOD WHEN THAT MENU MUSIC STARTED PLAYING I HAD A NOSTALGIA TRIP! AHHH!!!
Awesome video Craig one of my favorite moment from your video is the bathroom scene when you stumbled across a bunch of green army toys that made me chuckle, also keep up the good work
The ps1 port had actual cut scenes if I recall. Still have it but no chance I'll actually get through that or the other army men games I have. I've probably spent more time playing with actual plastic army men than those games
God I remember playing this game so long ago. Never could beat it though. Kinda hard for a young kid without access to internet info. Hell I played this game for so long and never figured out about going prone and rolling to put out fires till I read the comment section.
If I recall, the whole turning soldiers into spiders thing, I think they are melting the grey soldiers in a Creepy Crawlers machine, creating spiders (a common mold that came with the machine).
My Sarge's Heros came with a sweet green army dude keychain.
Once you become a pow you are forever grey
Wow another highly talented RUclipsr who is highly under represented in their sub count. for most RUclipsrs I can see why their subs are low, bad audio quality, poor humor, but you are just top notch in all categories I enjoyed watching this a lot!
RUclips is an ocean, each RUclipsr is a drop.
Appreciate the kind words!
This is great i was a fan of your other channel and now i'm a fan of this one. You just earned a sub :)
Thanks for reminding me about this gem. Totally had forgotten about this game.
Damn I remember this game as a kid had to write down the codes after you beat every level ahhh good memories
Haha, I didn't remember that part until you mentioned it
Oh man, thanks a lot for the nostalgia! You just gained another sub. :)
HAHAHAHAHA I love this channel, WOW I just adore your sense of humor.
And how I can relate to the frustration of older games. GREAT video.
Just so you know, the playstation versions run far better.
Good to know.
NORGAS
The heck's a NORGAS?
The ps1 versions look worse than the n64
And Dreamcast version even has much better graphics too.
PS2 Sarge's Heroes 2 was what I played.
I had 'army men: air tactics'on pc. I was like 6-7 and barley understood english but my big bro would help me out, haha. Good times
Craig I love the stuff you're doing these days keep up the good work.
Man I remember playing this on the Dreamcast. SO OLD XD
I'm so glad i played the ps1 version first.
So much better
i have to say i was a bit scptic about your new channel at first but after watching this video I've got to say i really liked it your sir have got yourself a permanent subscriber
What was his old cahnnel like?.
Awesome video! Nostalgia overload now 😎🤘
I really liked this game, the living room and the prison camp were my favorite levels. I had a slower, sniper play style as opposed to a run and gun.
The ending of the video was classic. Awesome review though.
No mention of multiplayer? That is THE REASON this game was so awesome!!!
Army men RTS is where its at. Played it when I was a kid on the GameCube and absolutely loved everything about it. It's what made me love RTS games, after that I played age of empire 2 and played it like an rpg instead of an RTS and made it my goal to populate the whole map and take over the 4 different teams. And as a kid it was hard af on medium. To this day those were the funnest moments I've ever had with a video game.
It was a fantastic game until the train level. Oh my god that train level. Not even cheat codes allowed me to beat it.
This was hilarious I really enjoyed it Craig. Great work
Can you please review the ps1 version????
You know, I don't know how many people I know that are guilty of not taking a borrowed game back, and it's not even that we wanted to keep it, it's just that we kept playing and playing, and they never asked for it back. Then through time I guess they forgot or didn't care. Which I guess both go hand in hand. Point is, is if they woulda asked for it back they'd have gotten it lol
Sometimes the truth is spoken
I still feel bad about having my friends Zelda majoras mask. He said he rides like it because he couldn't figure out the first quest you do playing hide n seek with the bombers. I never had the heart to tell him that the game is so much more expansive and amazing after that quest. But he is a junky now somewhere on the other coast so I shouldn't feel bad I guess
Awe man, I don't play video games and haven't for over 10 years (I'm 25 for context) and I stumbled upon this video randomly in the side bar and I gotta say, thanks for this. I was instantly taken back to renting this at Family Video long after it came out and playing it while my family was outside my window grilling up food for the 4th of July. Again, thanks for this!
you are awesome love the videos man keep it going and keep em coming
i was fully convinced that i imagined this entire game lmao
I never played the Army Men games, but I did play the toy soldiers while growing up. I used to place a lot of grey soldiers on an table with an old PS2 and TV. Those were the days...
I first saw you with your Splinter cell video.. your videos are actually good keep it coming mate.
Halfway thru this and im waiting for you to talk about the music in this game, i feel like its so nostalgic and good(??) for its time lol
The Dreamcast version is very similar to the N64 version, except the soundtrack is far better composed, the camera is better, frame rate issues are gone and the game is fully voice acted!
...Although for some reason they opted to keep the in-engine cutscenes of the N64 version rather than using the FMVs of the PS1 version.
I'd argue the Dreamcast version is the better of the 3. It's probably the closest this game gets to being competent. It's still not exactly a classic, but it's an alright game, at least. Multiplayer was quite fun!
Oh, yes: At least on the Dreamcast version, you can *sorta* make most of the game play like a "Run and Gun" action game if you use the Sniper Rifle as your main weapon. It'll always lock on to enemies perfectly and has quite a staggering auto-aim range, as well. There will still be a lot of time where you have to sit and wait, admittedly, but it makes the game cater to your liking for longer.
Rising Storm 2
excellent vid. I do enjoy retro reviews. I actually really liked these games...the few played. keep up the good work, i hope to see more. and yeah, I was sure to share.
Iv totally forgotten about this game.. awesome video brotha
This game is annoying in that there's no best version.
The Playstation version has the worst graphics but is the only version with the FMV cutscenes(which, in my opinion almost make the game for me).
The Dreamcast version has easily the best graphics but the cutscenes are done using the gameplay graphics which kinda sucks.
And the N64 has slightly better looking graphics than the Playstation(weirdly enough) but the cutscenes are in-engine and have no audible dialogue.
I loved the PSX version, but I was so envious the N64 one had the extra weapons (M79 grenade launcher, shotgun) and expanded maps from the PSX one. But the PSX had rocking MUSIC!
I found some fanart for this game on deviantart.
*O h n o*
Man ive been watching youtube for years and ive never seen anyone make a video about these old ass games i was playing 20 years ago as a 2 or 3 year old. Ive watched your channel for awhile (since splinter cell) and im hella glad you made a video on this game even if im late. Thanks for the many hours of entertainment friend. I know im going to thoroughly enjoy this one
Holy crap I remember playing this game as a kid. Nostalgic
Play the PlayStation 1 version its a lot better
Love this content dude! please keep it up! Hit me up soon too it's been too long man.
Your production quality is great. I'm surprised you don't have more followers.
good job craig, i really enjoyed this video!!
Battletanx global assault n64 do it
I don't know about you, but I grew up with little green army men.
I made a whole school project based around these guys. It was set in a WW1/2 trench and it was the green guys vs the grey ones. I made a little carboard trench with a building in it, it had a bed, cabinet and table and chairs. I also made a cardboard grenade explosion. I made it about 20 years ago and I still have it.
Also I remember this game, and the various others in the Army Men series. Most not as light hearted.
Although I remembered very little of Sarge's Heroes, I did actually play Army Men RTS recently and enjoyed it a LOT.
(Less action, more strategy. You both create and command your armies in a campaign infiltrating a suburban house)
Surprisingly enough I actually played with Warhammer 40k miniatures rather than Army Men.
what a big boy you are! im sure mommy is proud!
Battle Tech nigga
Way to make everyone cringe dude.
I wish i had rich parents...😃
Man, I miss these days.... I remember playing this as a kid lol. Soo many good memories with my brothers and friends playing N64 games like 007 GoldenEye and Zelda Ocarina Of Time.
They should’ve taken a page from Toy Story 2 and made more locations to remind you you’re Toy sized.
Army Men 3D is actually a ps1 remake of the first game, which is it's own separate series. There's the main series, Sarge's Heroes series (which includes the air attack games), and world at war.
You take that back I loved this game and still do.
I really like your review style
Lot's of effort for such a lowkey game. Keep it up!
Won a sub through this slice of nostalgia (and sharing my desktop background)
Sarge's war was brutal. I remember it being brutal anyway
I always remember getting the Bazooka "Ho Ho Ho, Yeah"
I loved this game, absolutely ADORED the gameplay!
one of my favorite games growing up. I didn't remember a single player and i'm starting to wonder if I knew it existed
This was one of my favorites. Love scrapping in the fridge
Me and my neighbor used to always hang out and reenact civil war battles with those little army men, I’m 14 rn but even tho those things r old I found them very enjoyable
Hey man, I found you via your comment on SidAlpha's video and I have to say you're producing some creally enteratining stuff :) Subscribed and would love to see more, keep it up!
I remember playing this! I remember the cemetery and inside a refrigerator missions
Or on the pipes from the second one! Video was awesome man thanks for the memories!!
