According to the FTC's Green Guides, products labeled as 'biodegradable' should display information about the disposal protocol that would allow the product or packaging to degrade in the manner claimed.
Here's how your 'biodegradable' poop bags may be deceiving you.

It’s really frustrating when consumers are essentially being told they’re the ones responsible for fixing a problem that was created by these big corporations in the first place...

I would love to see companies lying about things be taken down. Not just fined but taken down completely.

The term "biodegradable" marked on plastic bags is often misleading and poorly regulated by law. The bag must really be labeled as suitable for home composting.
For instance, in the EU, the European Standard EN 134323 refers to compostability in industrial composting facilities (high temperature, etc.) but there is no EU standard for domestic composting. There is a label "OK compost HOME", and some countries have adopted their own standard, but it is difficult to find a "bioplastic" bag that is truly compostable.

I washed one in a washing machine ( not on purpose) it came out thin and brittle, fel in pieces when I tried to open it, and I took it as a good sign. Now after seeing this I don't know :(

The bags I have for the dog and our food waste do say "biodegradable in municipal compost facilities". I take that to mean they require a high temperature and possibly mechanical shredding to speed up the process.

The box you showed is the brand I use. I don't see an ASTM D6400 on it. But the box says ASTM D6495-04. Hey Google!

I just use junk mail. Paper is so much more biodegradable than any plastic, isn't it? And, so much junk mail deserves to be wrapped around dog mess. Oh, and it's free.

Banning the sale of biodegradable bags unless claims are shown with scientific evidence? What a radical thought. I figured biodegradable bags was bs.
Even if they’re made sustainable, I throw them in regular garbage. Ugh.

This might be out of topic but I have a locally made cassava plastic bag (approximately 3 USD for 50 pcs) that I bought a year ago that I stored in a cupboard. Just yesterday I need one because my mom wanted to give some avocado to a neighbor and the avocados fell to the floor because the bag is biodegrarable and suddenly crumbled into tiny pieces under the weight of the avocados after being stored for so long 🤣
