Hello there 👋👍 YOU CAN DO ! 👍 Don’t complicate it ! I’v been since I was 9 yrs. old when my parents went to Zagreb 🇭🇷 to finalize the paperwork immigrated/emigrated to Canada 🇨🇦 ! I was left the little girl they/we were fostering , in the care of my relatives (mothers aunt and uncle fathers brothers family) ! My my mother gave me money to buy fish 🐟 from the first monger that was coming to our farm village and the surrounding villages. So did fish , Vegeta soup , homemade egg noodles 🍜 , All the women mande their own egg 🥚 noodles ! Remember this was back in ‘64 ! No ELECTRIC STOVE ! Chop the wood 🪵 for the stove ! I still have a scar on my left Index finger from almost chopping the tip off 😵💫🤪😂 Motor husband said the meal tasted better than his wifes !? He was kind ! Here in Canada 🍁 I learned from an old cook , passed away quite a while ago . Read the resapi use it as a guide . Your kitchen your rules , your taste . It’s probably going to better and better with experience and triel and error . Don’t be afraid to experiment ! You’ll do just Fine !!! HAPPY COOO 🥣🍜🍕
My whole adult life looking and attempting to make the perfect make-at-home pizza, but I could never find an easy, economical, reasonably quick, and most importantly, a tasty, crunchy, yet chewy crust. I found my pizza Nervana. This is the most enjoyable pizza that a working person can make..... even running on half energy. Dough only: 2 hours from beginning the recipe to beginning to eat; 15 minutes prep and turning the dough, 5 minutes pizza construction (20 minutes actual work). Thank You Sir.

Made this pizza for the first time two weeks ago and my husband's only critique was the I didn't make two. The next day, he ordered me a new cast iron pizza pan. Was the best pizza, by far, we've ever tasted. It's a keeper!!!!
Looks really good. Always glad to see another pizza recipe from a trusted chef uploaded. The great thing about pan pizza is that it's easy to make properly at home. Chicago deep dish, Pizza di Napolitano, and New York all need especially equipment are temperatures beyond what a home oven can do, but this can be done by anyone. For people just starting out are an experienced, this is the type of pizza to make. I've been making pizzas for over 20 years at home and I still appreciate the ease of a no-need dough. Though I always make mine the day before, or even 2 days in advance. I'll have to give this method a try soon. Got a bunch of pepperoni I need to use.
I've been making pizza in a cast iron pan my grandmother gave me for years, but I could never get the cheese crust thing to come out right, and now I know why: I was using the wrong kind of cheese. Another lesson learned from the master. :)

Super easy to make. My family loved it! I doubled the recipe to fit a full size sheet pan. I used 400 gr of all purpose flour and 100 gr of whole wheat flour. Amazing results even with those tweaks. Thank you so much!
@@JohnKirkwoodProFoodHomemade I was a little hesitant because I didn't have bread flour but seems like this recipe is very forgiving because it worked perfectly fine with the mix of all purpose and whole wheat flour. The crumb inside was fluffy and pillowy despite the whole wheat flour addition 😍

I've wanted to make my own pizza for a long time and finally did today, mostly according to this recipe (made a few inconsequential tweaks along the way, mostly with spices, and used sausage instead of pepperoni). Wow! It may have been the best pizza I've ever eaten. My cast iron pan is square and has ridges in the bottom, which I thought might complicate things, but it turned out great. With the thick crust and square shape it seemed like I had gotten a great Sicilian pizza. Had some homemade wine with it!
All these recipes on this channel remind me of my Grans cooking 😊 She’s been gone a long time now sadly, but my goodness me this recipes looks delicious. i have tried several bread recipes from youtube and john kirkwoods are the only ones that have ever actually worked , i have tried them several times and made this pizza several times and it never fails plus the recipes are soooooo easy to follow and far tastier than anything shop bought

Hello John, I tried this earlier and although the presentation wasn't as seen in your picture it certainly passed the taste test! I just want to thank you as well for helping me. When I was a kid I couldn't really get in the kitchen because I was under mom's feet, and when I left home I couldn't cook. Now I'm making my own pizza, bread, toad in a hole etc and I learnt it all from you. First attempts are often a mess but I get better each time! Pies and pasties will be my next challenge.

There seems to be a lot of PITA types commenting here. Infants with little grasp of the subject making puerile and ignorant remarks. If they had a clue they’d be offering up pizzas they created in their own kitchens but alas, no skills - except to snipe. Ah well. It’s the net, and it has ensnared us all. Good ideas and recipe here! You’ve made me want to do this with that same Lodge pan and my own version. Some ideas in the comments by actual cooking types are helpful to me too. We made pizza at my besties last nite with too many leftover toppings, so I decided I would make more today. I just woke up from a dream in a fuege state thinking abt your pizza dough, how easy and delicious it was last time, so I'm gonna go do that, though I'd pop by and tell you abt it first. Have a good nite, sir!
IT WAS SO GOOD. I forgot to boule it before putting it into the oiled bowl, so it was minimally kneaded thruout the whole process, and I will say, I noticed! Really the dough was just a little softer, lil' chewier, not very dense, but still crisped well and held it's shape, a spectacular win in my book! Funnily enough, my last yeast packet expired in october! But I figured the little yeastie boys didn't know what day it was, and I'm DOUBLY glad you say to always test your yeast FIRST, because I did NOT think of that in post-nap-state (tho I DID remember to chk the exp date before I saw it in the vid, still a valid brain wave, that synapses is 💥🔥). The other funnily enough, I first saw this video abt a year and a half ago, very shortly after using the besties 12" cast iron for the first time for........hhmmm I can't remember what we were making. Probably tacos, honestly. But I saw this early enough in the day, and there was no compromise, I immedietly went and found a 12" cast iron for myself, got it home and realized I should season it a few more times ESPECIALLY if pizza was gonna be the first one, so I didn't actually get around to making it till the next day, but wow, that was a life-changing experience!! So genuinely thank you. You have made pizza easy and delicious for us, when my brain used to make it a huge, chaotic, production. You have ALSO encouraged me to build my cast iron collection, which I hella double-plus appreciate!! Off to bed now, probably only to wake up and decide really hard if I'm gonna make pizza again tmrrw. I'm gonna get some fresh yeast too, so that's ridiculously exciting 🎉

John I picked up a tip and if you buy chopped tinned tomatoes, they have been de seeded. Where as whole tinned tomatoes have seeds in. Just thought I would pass that on for those who did not know.

Super easy to make. My family loved it! I doubled the recipe to fit a full size sheet pan. I used 400 gr of all purpose flour and 100 gr of whole wheat flour. Amazing results even with those tweaks. Thank you so much!

@@JohnKirkwoodProFoodHomemade I was a little hesitant because I didn't have bread flour but seems like this recipe is very forgiving because it worked perfectly fine with the mix of all purpose and whole wheat flour. The crumb inside was fluffy and pillowy despite the whole wheat flour addition 😍

I've wanted to make my own pizza for a long time and finally did today, mostly according to this recipe (made a few inconsequential tweaks along the way, mostly with spices, and used sausage instead of pepperoni). Wow! It may have been the best pizza I've ever eaten. My cast iron pan is square and has ridges in the bottom, which I thought might complicate things, but it turned out great. With the thick crust and square shape it seemed like I had gotten a great Sicilian pizza. Had some homemade wine with it!

My pan has a griddle type ridging in the bottom too, just gives it more surface area for crispy bits :)

i have tried several bread recipes from youtube and john kirkwoods are the only ones that have ever actually worked , i have tried them several times and made this pizza several times and it never fails plus the recipes are soooooo easy to follow and far tastier than anything shop bought

I've made this a few times and it always turns out great. Very very easy, and a great change of pace if you're used to making regular crust pizza.

Hello John, I tried this earlier and although the presentation wasn't as seen in your picture it certainly passed the taste test!
I just want to thank you as well for helping me. When I was a kid I couldn't really get in the kitchen because I was under mom's feet, and when I left home I couldn't cook. Now I'm making my own pizza, bread, toad in a hole etc and I learnt it all from you. First attempts are often a mess but I get better each time! Pies and pasties will be my next challenge.

There seems to be a lot of PITA types commenting here. Infants with little grasp of the subject making puerile and ignorant remarks. If they had a clue they’d be offering up pizzas they created in their own kitchens but alas, no skills - except to snipe.
Ah well. It’s the net, and it has ensnared us all.

We made pizza at my besties last nite with too many leftover toppings, so I decided I would make more today.
I just woke up from a dream in a fuege state thinking abt your pizza dough, how easy and delicious it was last time, so I'm gonna go do that, though I'd pop by and tell you abt it first. Have a good nite, sir!

IT WAS SO GOOD. I forgot to boule it before putting it into the oiled bowl, so it was minimally kneaded thruout the whole process, and I will say, I noticed! Really the dough was just a little softer, lil' chewier, not very dense, but still crisped well and held it's shape, a spectacular win in my book!
Funnily enough, my last yeast packet expired in october! But I figured the little yeastie boys didn't know what day it was, and I'm DOUBLY glad you say to always test your yeast FIRST, because I did NOT think of that in post-nap-state (tho I DID remember to chk the exp date before I saw it in the vid, still a valid brain wave, that synapses is
💥🔥).
The other funnily enough, I first saw this video abt a year and a half ago, very shortly after using the besties 12" cast iron for the first time for........hhmmm I can't remember what we were making. Probably tacos, honestly. But I saw this early enough in the day, and there was no compromise, I immedietly went and found a 12" cast iron for myself, got it home and realized I should season it a few more times ESPECIALLY if pizza was gonna be the first one, so I didn't actually get around to making it till the next day, but wow, that was a life-changing experience!!
So genuinely thank you. You have made pizza easy and delicious for us, when my brain used to make it a huge, chaotic, production. You have ALSO encouraged me to build my cast iron collection, which I hella double-plus appreciate!!
Off to bed now, probably only to wake up and decide really hard if I'm gonna make pizza again tmrrw. I'm gonna get some fresh yeast too, so that's ridiculously exciting 🎉

John I picked up a tip and if you buy chopped tinned tomatoes, they have been de seeded. Where as whole tinned tomatoes have seeds in. Just thought I would pass that on for those who did not know.
