the TXT hug thing is actually sth male idols HAVE to do. a lot do this. it's called "manner hand" bc male idols are afraid to touch girls bc of the fantasy fans have. I find it cringe too but if some of their fans see them touching a woman, they freak out which is actually sad
in all fairness, it's not just something done because fans are crazy, I'm sure it influences some to do it but it existed and was common before the fans got as bad as they are today. it's generally something considered polite or gentlemanly, not to touch women suddenly or without explicit consent. that's why it is originally done, to show a kind of "good manner" or feeling of being raised well. that's why it's called manner hand in the first place, because it's meant to be a gesture that one has good manners towards women.
