I really don't understand where the misconception came from that undercover used the most wanted map as most wanted was one big city and undercover was 3 different cities (hence the name TRI-City Bay) which have no resemblance to Rockport at all...
For those who didn’t knew, this version of Undercover for the PS2 was actually a reskin of Most Wanted from 2005. There was lots of places that I remembered from MW that were in this version such as the docks when you beat Razor at the end of MW. When I played the PS3 version it was a different game lol.
Ferrari9696 Nah it has places from mw but it’s a reskin of nfs carbon speedy heart just ported undercover ps2’s map to nfs carbon and it works perfectly
Silver Hedgeho it can be reskined carbon or MW is still the same game and engine 3 same games same engine u can change maps like u want but it will need to be map from this game engine, i know my english shit but i want go sleep and i don't care about this now lol
its a reskinned carbon. all of the menus (and the hidden unused ones) are the exact same from carbon. the crew vinyls and stuff are still there. using carbons elf you can get to the push start screen of undercover before the game crashes :p
Yeah. Ok that in the PS3 version you have a larger map, but you can't go the events by GPS, you can't select the difficulty level, you can't chose your initial car, the police is dumb and the handling is unattractive, cause you have to maintain the car constantly on max speed to win
The wii map is way cooler in my opinion, I played the ps3 version for a bit and the city is sooo bland, plus it doesn't have that weird orange/yellowish filter
For some reason undercover's graphics on the ps3/xbox 360/pc were hated, it must've been the extreme lighting and high speed blur and effect, ProStreet looked better to me
I enjoy this NFS in the PS2 more than any other, I remember my grandmother yelling at me to turn down the volume because the roar of the Lamborghini was echoing through the house
Funny how people bash on this versus the non-ps2 versions of this game, and yet this carried over important features from NFSMW and NFSC that those versions completley dropped. In PC, PS3, XBox 360, Wii, or PS2 form, this game was wildly inconsistent with no clear direction imo. The gameplay did not play into the atmosphere or story at all, the story was lackluster, the physics didn't let you play with how the car drives. Overall, Black Box dropped the ball here, and I can't help thinking that given the competency they demonstrated in all their previous games, this was due to some sort of overhead pressure which eventually backed them into the corner of making NFS The Run; a game which while it was a technical milestone (developing a competent racing game on a universal genre engine like Frostbite 1) and probably exceedingly difficult to develop as a result, was similarly lackluster as an experience. This was the beginning of the end for Black Box, and while they managed to certainly bring that spark back with NFSW, the spark eventually faded, again, under the rule of the overlords of EA... you will be missed :'( (And yes, I know this version of the game was developed by a different studio to Black Box, but that only serves to back up my point...) EDIT: I realise now, it's possible that NFSW began development as NFSUc hit the market, or before that! So, they released NFSUc, then suddenly began development on a new game straight after their previous game had lackluster sales. Suddenly, halfway through the development of that, they began development of a new game for consoles based on a technical concept nobody had ever achieved before. All of that in about 3 years, following which, EA would give them less and less opportunity, leaving them to slowly whither away working on a passion project of theirs that both knew wouldn't make enough money in the long run to allow them to survive. No wonder they burnt out after Undercover...
So my brother and I first got Undercover for PS2 (after we finished MW 2005 several times) and we loved it. Then, as we got the PS3 in 2011, my brother bought the PS3 version. We were hyped af and then disappointed af because the gameplay simply sucked. NFS Undercover for PS2 is probably the only game which is waaay better than its next gen version. My fav NFS's: 1. Most Wanted 2. Undercover PS2 3. Underground 2 And yes, I also played Carbon but I don't like it as much. And I played almost every other NFS title since U2, except the Shift series and Pro Street (and Nitro but who gives a shit about that trash)
this is like fusing story from undercover, physics from carbon and a map made out of most wanted patches idk if the sp is from underground or is from a recent game but i think we can trow underground into the blender
yeaah I remember back in the day trading this with my friend for a god of war 1, expecting the same pc version... biggest disappointment, but finished it nonetheless
The ps2 version is sooo much better than the pc. I loved playing the ps2 version (I still do), tried it recently on pc for nostalgia and I was like wtf is this sh.t??? Cars handle like a piece of crap, the menu and the minimap are a disaster, I was so disappointed
back in the days undercover u was top of the notch graphics. I simply loved it, it has a special place in my heart. Used to play it for HOURS everyday. I also used to play midnight club dub edition, I also love it the same way I do with U2
You're right, the PC version is terrible, but the PS2 version is arguably even worse. I cannot understand why most people not only think the PS2 version is better, but actually call it 'enjoyable" and "good". What are you drinking?
Ya'll are crazy PS2 undercover is epic. In fact I rate PS2 undercover higher than 2005 most wanted, its my 3rd fave NFS game after Underground 2 and NFS IV high stakes.
remember back in the day thinking the ps2 version was the same as on pc ps3 and x360,and saw this,i was never so much dissapointed in my life, and i still completed the game hahaha but now years after i realised the ps2 version is better than the mess on pc and next gen versions!
SEMiN Yo lmao! Bruh, when I first played this on ps2, I remembered thinking "What type of bs is this" since the ps2 most wanted, underground 2 and carbon looked better than this.
I think the main reason why both pros treet & undercover weren't always well received as the previous & future NFS games was the fact EA Black box developing a game called skate (a skateboarding game) while at the same time developing pro street (PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, & PC) and undercover (PS3, Xbox 360, & PC) resulting both Pro street and undercover rushed in development.
I remember playing the "highway battle" event, trigger the police and use nitro Result: cops use nitro too and the event becomes a massive "get down" dance party
I remember playing the PS2 version of NFS: Undercover for hours on end right back in 2009! I've got to admit that I really enjoyed it. I have played the PC version of the game many times over, which is not the best need for speed (due to how repetitive the game felt and the orange tint which I personally thought was an eyesore), however certainly not the worst NFS game. This PS2 version however felt different. It felt very much alike NFS: Most Wanted from 2005, but with new things added. I also like how the Wii and PS2 was an alternative game to the PS3, PC and X360 version of the game, and that was not a bad thing with Undercover (though the Wii and PS2 versions of Hot Pursuit and The Run were god awful). I think I much preferred the map in this version of the game to the one on the HD consoles.
This game is my favorite game. I don’t know why, but it was the first NFS game I played in the Wii version. So I see how this version was so hated, because there are a lot of things this version that has gone wrong! Like the Wii/ps2 map is similar to NFS MW(2005), this was a reskinned NFS Carbon, because of its performance, customization, and its cars, and of course it’s handing is flawed. And when you start off with first car on Career mode, you don’t even need it a new car, just like I said about the performance. The performance is infinite, which makes the game too easy to enjoy and finish. So my opinion about this version is that it could of been better if they just put more effort into this while working on the new version, so this version was probably rushed and didn’t have enough time to get it done. So it’s very disappointing how this was claimed as the worst NFS series, due to its lack of effort.
I actually have the ps2 version of this and i absolutely love it to bits. I also have it on 360 but have not tried it on 360 yet mainly because i dont have a 360.

the PS2 version reminds me so much of Most Wanted
well the ps2 and the wii game were both developed on the same engine used in most wanted 2005. It's no suprise
NotSoFr0sty actually this game is a re skin of mw 05 on ps2
Its the same most wanted map m8
I really don't understand where the misconception came from that undercover used the most wanted map as most wanted was one big city and undercover was 3 different cities (hence the name TRI-City Bay) which have no resemblance to Rockport at all...

Not the whole map is used, but quite a lot of places are taken from MW's map and reskinned

On the pcsx2 emulator the graphics are up scaled to 1080p so it looks slightly lower quality on a real ps2

Undercover development was messy poor devs Damn EA.
That was the case with Splinter Cell Double Agent too.
Handling and gameplay from PS2/Wii + graphics and city of PS3/360/PC = a good Undercover
Unfortunately it wasn't
PS2/Wii version played well because it was more or less Most Wanted done a third time
And didnt crash as much as the HD version

Perfectly put down brother Sad really miss Blackbox
its amazing how much resolution upscaling can both make a game look so much better and point out its graphical flaws so much harder
