My Virgin Kitchen hah okay. Time zones fascinate me. Have you ever watched anyone make cotton candy...... it's not that hard......... you are supposed to go around the bowl by the clear edge... not in the middle. Love your videos though. 😁💜 hope you have a great day. Gonna try to go to sleep now.
You cracked me up putting on safety glasses with no lences, then getting sugar in your eye. So much for safety first 🤣 and the taste test...ummm "tastes like sugar" 👏😂 👏
I recently got one of these gadgets. Heat the candyfloss maker then switch off, add the sugar and don't touch the spinning centre. Dried rose petals and caster sugar ground together is a great flavour. You can add colouring but the sugar must then be dried out thoroughly. A pestle and mortar will grind the sugar finely. I bought a pack of polo mints, ground them finely and made candyfloss out of them, WOW! It's fab. Any boiled sweets ground down will do it as long as there's no liquid filling. If it's mostly sugar, grind it and candyfloss it. Have fun
I know this video is quite a few years old now, but the kids and I just watched it as I was trying to figure out how to use a candy floss maker. We loved your video! Very funny! Thank you
I enjoy all your videos and these kitchen gadget testing videos but I feel like multiple gadgets in one video is better, it may just be me but just giving my opinion. Anyway great vid Barry!
Woah! I’ve been subscribed since 2015 and I haven’t watched your videos since I was 14. I’m now starting college and it’s insane to see how much this channel has changed, keep up with the great content.
I've got a little candy floss maker and i have used standard sugar with it which is fine other than the time that for some reason (i think i overloaded it) it decided to semi-explode out of the top of the spinning plate and so a line of semi-molten sugar went right across me. its always fun to have molten sugar bits stick to you on your chest/arms. wasnt painful at all other than the bad burning sensation
I've always wondered how candy floss is made, now I can do it myself! I was worried this gadget would've been £100, I was pleasantly surprised, candy floss here I come!
We bought one with the intention of making cotton candy for the kids' birthday parties. It's possible, but you have to do a LOT of work the day before to make enough. And the floss has to be sealed in plastic bags & kept in a cool dry place.
The cones may help with stability... Also, when making rock candy, they say to coat the skewer in sugar so the other sugars can latch onto it when the rocks are forming. Maybe you have to do a similar thing with cotton candy? If so, let me know. I'm trying to do a fundraiser with the stuff one day.
Barry, you could use regular (or caster's) sugar, mixed with unsweetened drink powder to make your own, flavored. I'd recommend a lot higher sugar-to-powder ratio, since it won't be diluted in water.
hey barry! I have a machine almost just like that *Different brand, same design* And you can actually put hard candy in the sugar spinner. I usually use Jolly Ranchers *Not sure if you have those where you live* but you can usually put 2 hard candies in there and it'll make flavored cotton candy :D
Good tip for you Barry, you can use boiled sweets (foxes glacier mints, cola cubes candy canes etc) in these just crush them up and add them in like you would add the sugar. THE best one to use though is Werther's originals. I promise you, once you have used Werther's in it you will be hooked!
Again. I absolutely love the intro. Also I call it Fairy Floss because it sounds magical and is sorta funny since the tooth fairy is all about flossing and candy doesn't quite help your teeth. You get me?
You said you wanted to try other cotton candies? In Maine we can get maple syrup cotton candy! I think they use maple sugar, I like it way better than regular cotton candy! Love the video!
My Virgin Kitchen I’ve gotten it at the Fryeburg fair, which happens the first week of October, but I’m sure you can also find it during Maine maple Sunday. That’s when the sugar houses open up and you can watch how maple syrup is made and try loads of other maple products! But I’ve also seen a small container at Whole Foods for $2
It works better if you rotate the stick in your hand at the same time is spinning it around the heat wheel. I used to work in a sweet shop and made all the candy floss.
You need to run it empty for a minute or so, turn it off to put the sugar in, then turn it back on. And keep the stick horizontal. Let it coo, and clean the bowl and spinner with hot water. Use a damp sponge CTO wipe down the machine, AFTER TAKING THE PLUG OUT!
You can moist the skewers with some water prior to start the process so the candy floss would stick to it and you wouldn't have any issues of it letting go of the skewers :D
I'd heard about this channel loads from Ashens and such but I never actually sat down and watched through the videos, and I regret that now. Throughly entertaining and enjoyable content, can't wait for more :D
The intro was fine, smaller changes over time suits you better, I liked the barn stuff but it came with so many changes at once too and it felt like you were trying more new things then sticking with what you know. Saying you had a new studio, slightly different (noticeable) style, having someone else to edit your videos, on top of your plans to get family involved, livestreams, kid's kitchen and guests at the same time. Now the NerdCubed was a fun one, and is a good idea; to occasionally travel to cook and collab is a nice format to run with. Just need to get that balance of new and "traditional" (I guess), maybe if the change to the barn was drawn out a bit, maybe have like a batch of videos in the barn and weaving them occasionally between "your kitchen" episodes, to help ease people into liking the barn before committing. The addition of the intro in here, and using it (maybe?) for the upcoming future, maybe mention about it in the video (maybe even adding a youtube poll to it?), is a nice small change, as long as it isn't super long. There are always gonna be people who dislike it, but since you've changed the style a little before (ie new logo and colour scheme) and it has seemed to not be "an issue", many small changes over time might be better then a couple of changes at once. Hey i'm not someone who claims to know this stuff and is just my opinion, and man I love your content and would hate to see you fall off the internet. Kind of miss your Bashens (not Barshens xD) sort of collabs but hey if you get Ashens on that collab thing you did with Nerdcubed, that (to me) is just as good :D. Either way this is a wall of text and I doubt anyone actually read this so, congrats? And if the man himself read all of this, from a long time British Subscriber, keep on the good work Barry and don't stress out too much (even though RUclips's algorithm sucks :/)
It looks a lot better if you also spin the stick while rotating around. Can't see which way the disc is spinning, but yeah, try spinning the stick as well!
@myvirginkitchen you could just break the end of the stick a little bit. Just so that it bends a little and holds the candy floss in place. Do not break the end off. Just break to bend
Yay... the animation is done... Superb work from the animator. Brings a bit of class to the intro.. :) Also, cool gadget. Now i want to visit an amusement park.. Too bad it's winter.
what about if you soak the stick in water for a bit? wouldn't the candy floss then stick to the stick???? also try nesquick powder and crusher liquid... i used to have one of these years ago and used them to
Loved this video. As someone who used the commercial one, and was pricked by dry candy floss crystals. Your vids are so natural that I end up chatting with you as you're chatting. Love the glasses.... xxx
Can also use hard candies...we use sugar free hard candies. 2 pieces. Let warm up for 10-15 minutes. Stop and add sugar or candy. Do not have to crush the hard candies
So the one time my mom and I tried to make cotton candy at home, she killed it. No joke. She tried to mix all the colors but they meted burned and became a blocks of death. It's been at least 13 years and I still haven't forgiven her for that. We never tried to make cotton candy again....

My Virgin Kitchen I just want to say I love you new intro
My Virgin Kitchen Hi what time is it there? It is 4:19 am havent slept.
well it's 9am ish as I type this
My Virgin Kitchen hah okay. Time zones fascinate me. Have you ever watched anyone make cotton candy...... it's not that hard......... you are supposed to go around the bowl by the clear edge... not in the middle. Love your videos though. 😁💜 hope you have a great day. Gonna try to go to sleep now.
Barry I think you will love the new Star Wars film- Hope to see you review it soon!!
Barry, this is dangerous, you need supervision. Next time you do something like this get someone responsible to assist, like Phoebe or Chloe.
Or Stuart
Or Boston 😂😂
I was wondering why he didn’t bring them. It would be great for them, I am sure they would love it.
At least he had Boston and Amy. But I agree with you. I think he needs more supervision.
You cracked me up putting on safety glasses with no lences, then getting sugar in your eye. So much for safety first 🤣 and the taste test...ummm "tastes like sugar" 👏😂 👏
Fyi: turn it on for 1 minute to pre-heat. Turn off to add sugar, turn back on to make floss. Spinning the stick improves the collection.
Just love the intro! It’s good to have the old Barry back ❤️
I recently got one of these gadgets. Heat the candyfloss maker then switch off, add the sugar and don't touch the spinning centre. She's Scottish

That’ll still happen from time to time
My Virgin Kitchen that’s great, variety is better than just the one thing
I don’t usually enjoy single gadget videos but I was genuinely interested in this one!
Your new intro is amazing !!! And when I see your videos it’s like you found your self!!
Woah! I’ve been subscribed since 2015 and I haven’t watched your videos since I was 14. I’m now starting college and it’s insane to see how much this channel has changed, keep up with the great content.
cheers Liam
Wesley two scoops! He was called two scoops because his mum would always say “just two more scoops” when he couldn’t finish his tea!
I remember!
Your glasses at the end. So lopsided. Hilarious! XD
Wesley "2 scopps" Berry! Hell yea I remember him on American Gladiators! Lol
hahaha yes that's the guy!
Love these videos on a Sunday morning
I've always wondered how candy floss is made, now I can do it myself! I was worried this gadget would've been £100, I was pleasantly surprised, candy floss here I come!
That new intro is so cute!
Love the new opening.
OMG I LOVED THE LITTLE INTRO THINGY!!!!!!IT WAS SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!
that opening was adorable
We bought one with the intention of making cotton candy for the kids' birthday parties. It's possible, but you have to do a LOT of work the day before to make enough. And the floss has to be sealed in plastic bags & kept in a cool dry place.
That turned out much better than I thought it would.
Your hilarious when doing the testing so it's so much fun to watch.
Absolutely love that intro, utterly brilliant
Love, love, love the beginning Barry!!!!
Love the new opening with the cartoon very cute
I was just about to turn in (@ 4a.m.) when I got the notification! Sleep is overrated anyway. LoL 💜 the cartoon version of the family. Tfs!
Barry! I think you're supposed to rub the bamboo skewer with a very small amount of water first, so the candy sticks to the stick!
LOL It really inspired me.
Love the glasses!
The girl in the video is Scottish: Source: Scottish man 😂♥️
Has anyone else had maple sugar candy floss? It is SERIOUSLY AMAZING!!
Love the new opening you guys are the cutest
You can also crush up hard candies like jolly ranchers or peppermints and put them through a cotton candy machine. That way you get more flavors.
THE NEW INTRO IM SCREAMING ITS SO CUTE
Love the new intro💖
I just want to say I LOVE your now intro!!
thankyou we like it too, maybe a cartoon one day eh
OMG 😲 I've always wanted a RUclipsr to reply to me and I am soooooo happy it was you!
I've done this with a big industrial size maker for a fall festival. It's so much fun. We did bags though.
Loving the new intro animation Barry! 👍👍
I have one of these, and you can use hard candies in it as well. I recommend werthers caramel coffee, or root beer barrels.
hey barry! I have a machine almost just like that *Different brand, same design* And you can actually put hard candy in the sugar spinner. I usually use Jolly Ranchers *Not sure if you have those where you live* but you can usually put 2 hard candies in there and it'll make flavored cotton candy :D
Best intro ever!
Loving the side-fades, Baz!
Good tip for you Barry, you can use boiled sweets (foxes glacier mints, cola cubes candy canes etc) in these just crush them up and add them in like you would add the sugar. THE best one to use though is Werther's originals. I promise you, once you have used Werther's in it you will be hooked!
Impressive! I definitely buy if I liked floss!
Love the video!
that sounds insane I may just fly to Maine to try that! I've been there before, but any excuse lol
My Virgin Kitchen I’ve gotten it at the Fryeburg fair, which happens the first week of October, but I’m sure you can also find it during Maine maple Sunday. Just wanted to say nice name 😉👽🌿🌳
For large gadgets I can understand the one per, so this one works, but with small easy gadgets, the multiple gadget episodes is the best format.
Probably likely to be like that
Always wanted to see how this is made! Good call Barry
You got there in the end, Barry. Well done!
That intro was adorable
Love the new intro
Barry!!!! It's so
Cute!!!
Loving the new intro Barry! -
It works better if you rotate the stick in your hand at the same time is spinning it around the heat wheel. I used to work in a sweet shop and made all the candy floss.
Hello from Australia! I always love your kitchen gadget testing. I have bought several items based on your videos. Thank you for what you do.
I had one of those as well and I mixed cinnamon and sugar (cinnamon sugar I guess) lol and it tasted good
You need to run it empty for a minute or so, turn it off to put the sugar in, then turn it back on. And keep the stick horizontal. Let it coo, and clean the bowl and spinner with hot water. Use a damp sponge CTO wipe down the machine, AFTER TAKING THE PLUG OUT!
Wet the stick before twirling to keep the floss secured onto the stick
You can moist the skewers with some water prior to start the process so the candy floss would stick to it and you wouldn't have any issues of it letting go of the skewers :D
I'd heard about this channel loads from Ashens and such but I never actually sat down and watched through the videos, and I regret that now. Throughly entertaining and enjoyable content, can't wait for more :D
Excuse me, Sassy Apple is just dancing until she gets out of college.

@myvirginkitchen you could just break the end of the stick a little bit. Just so that it bends a little and holds the candy floss in place. Do not break the end off. Just break to bend
is it can be used for hard work in small candy shop or just for home use ?
Yay... the animation is done... Superb work from the animator. Brings a bit of class to the intro.. :) Also, cool gadget. Now i want to visit an amusement park.. Too bad it's winter.
The intro is adorable
Living for the intro 😍😂
You're such a dork Barry, and i love you for it
love the new intro !!!
I love the intro 😁
Awe i love the new intro.
Even though I did watch your "barn kitchen" I do like the home kitchen better LOL ! Either way I love watching you Barry and the family😁
what about if you soak the stick in water for a bit? wouldn't the candy floss then stick to the stick???? also try nesquick powder and crusher liquid... i used to have one of these years ago and used them to
what an adorable intro! And an enjoyable video as per usual!
Loved this video. As someone who used the commercial one, and was pricked by dry candy floss crystals. Your vids are so natural that I end up chatting with you as you're chatting. Love the glasses.... xxx
Every time you cringed I laughed so much! lol thank you for that!
Loved it Barry. You should try to roll a piece of paper in to a cone and try with that. I think it will hold the sugar much better
Intro is AMAZING
I need this so badly.
I'm so in love with the new intro 😍
Loving the glasses!! LOL
Omg i love the intro!!! So cuteee😍
You should do a kids cooking challenge between the girls. Btw love the intro
Just thought this morning how much I want to eat cotton candy, this video was just on time
Haha I think after using it I’m a little uncertain
Awesome intro Barry!
330 am here where I live. Now I want some cotton candy lol
Your new intro is awesome, I love your videos keep up the great videos:)
Also, spin the skewer as you rotate it around the bowl and it will stick
Loving the new intro
Can also use hard candies...we use sugar free hard candies. 2 pieces. Let warm up for 10-15 minutes. Stop and add sugar or candy. Do not have to crush the hard candies
That intro is fantastic.
That looked like fun. I want one to play with 😊
Barry! If you crush up hard candies you can actually use them in machines like this to make different flavored candy floss!
Love the intro!! So cozy 💜
That new intro is really cute 😊
It is the first time i ser the intro. I love it!
So the one time my mom and I tried to make cotton candy at home, she killed it. No joke. She tried to mix all the colors but they meted burned and became a blocks of death. It's been at least 13 years and I still haven't forgiven her for that. We never tried to make cotton candy again....
