Congratulations on the sweet deal! At the moment I'm writing with a Custom 74 with a fine nib that I got from a Japanese seller on ebay. Pilot fine nibs are my all time favorite. 😀

I have the exact same CH92, got the blue one as the smoke was out of stock before the price increases.
Looks good and piston is super smooth; the nib was to dry for me, with very thin upstrokes but i opened the tines and it writes very well, with some feedback.
Like you said, excellent value when bought at Japanese msrp!
I actually prefer this over the custom 823 and i think it’s the best pen pilot makes, wish more colours were available (especially orange)

Wow, high praise! But I agree, it is one of the most underrated pens in the Pilot lineup and Pilot could do so much more with the line. We can dream.

I have a custom heritage 92 in a FM nib good writer. I believe my Elite 95s in a F nib is a bit smoother.
As for the converters, I believe most folks hate on the con-40 and not the con-70.
Looking to pick up a costume 823 or 743 next year. More than likely the 823. I love my vacuum fill.
Congratulations on your new pen. Enjoy.

Thanks, and glad you are enjoying yours! That's what I thought too, interesting of people hating the 40 but liking the 70, but I've been seeing a lot of hate on the 70 lately. I think it's mainly just people not knowing how to operate it right, so they think it doesn't work... The 823 is an amazing pen! One of my favorites in my collection!
