Vai's virtuosity is undeniable and can shred with the best of them but to me it's stuff like this that he is at his best. Gorgeous melodically and music is meant to provoke emotion. In this respect Vai is king of the shredders in my book.

I went to a Steve Vai masterclass. Somebody asked him how much he used to practice. "When I was in school 9 hours a day, obviously more in the weekends" was Steve's Antwerpen.
with everything else that was said about Steve in the comments also understand the premise of this song along w the almost all the others on the album called "Alive in the Ultra World" were written in consideration for each country he visited - this one if I remember right was written for Ireland.... my personal fav of this slbum is "The Black Forest" which was written for Germany .... great stuff guys keep on checking out more of Steve !!!

He is called the Space Aged Wiz Kid. He scored music for Frank Zappa when he was just a teen. You really must watch Dream Theater for some amazing guitar work. Especially their live stuff.
He is so good...go see him asap. He isnt getting younger, and you can tell he is taking different picking and notes to compensate for speed amd dexterity loss due to age.
I have heard it said by musicians and music teachers that music in its highest form is communication. It seems to me that Sohyang has that extraordinary talent when it comes to singing, and when it comes to guitarists Steve Vai also has that high, high talent or gift of communication through his guitar. 👀🤷🎸🎸🎸👽🛸💖💖💖

Great guitar player, but just because someone has excellent guitar playing skills does not make them a good songwriter. His compositions are tedious and uninteresting.
