    My orchids just went out a few days ago. They seem to be enjoying the warmth and light already. New growths are everywhere. This year I have several genera I did not have last year so it will be all about balancing the light and moisture needs of everyone. I'm excited about it though. I'm burning through my fertilizer faster than I expected too.

    Please send my love and well wishes to your mom! Relieved to hear she is up already! Grateful she is close by you now, I am sure and wish her a happy mothers day! After you got me hooked on African Violets again in my life, have now purchased my very first orchid! After all these years watching you from AV to orchids, believe I have enough courage to grow one. Well see... I purchased a Oncidium off ebay yesterday. I feel a good one to tip my toe in to set myself up to have a positive. I am excited! Thank you!

      @@rickl.orchids Hey Rick. Received my Orchid I ordered today from ebay. Beautiful mature plant having spikes. Want to send you a picture... Right now, soaking in plain rain water as it appears dehydrated some. My question is will the Oncidium bulbs (? part of plant from which the leaves grow from) fill out smooth once wrinkled? Plant does need some Jack's but did not want to throw anything at it until next watering so it can adjust to new home. Or should I? Found the part a and part b Jacks on ebay in smaller version ( to let you and others know, seller is selling 12oz, 3lb and 6lb sizes I feel relatively cheap). Orchid did come from grower in LA (100% awesome positive seller), however I am in Ohio and temps are in 60's to 70's average at this point in season. Would love to send picture to show you the wrinkles so I know if I should be concerned if they don't fill out..... I know I have told you this before over the years, THANK YOU. If not for you, to this day would not have grasped why, what, how to feed and water my plants. Like you, may find some of my AV homes and go to the less needy Orchid! :) Yours, Tina

    HI Rick,
    I have been sort of "away" for a while. Doing my usual winter depression. I have recovered from having a shoulder replacement. That took a lot of rehab! After hearing your story, I think I've had it pretty easy. I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. It is comforting to believe that they are now in a better place. I am delighted to hear that Jan is doing so well, and you sound good. I always love to see what you're doing with your Orchids and wish and hope that I could garner some of your magic touch.
    I believe I only have a fraction of a number of Orchids that you have. Mine are mostly fouls. Much to my surprise, I have had two that have re-bloomed and I have two that have bloom spikes on them - - A real change for me and mostly due to information I've gleaned from you and from Danielle.
    Know that you and Jan are in my prayers and I hope for you a much better year. Thanks for all that you give us, Rick. It is important for us to share our knowledge so that it can go onto new generations.

    Hello Rick. Thank you for your video. So envious of the weather you are enjoying. I could almost feel the sun and warmth you are experiencing. I believe we will finally see temps in the low 70’s later this week. Just a couple of days ago I saw a couple of snowflakes, while further north in the state, suffered through another 10+ inches of snow. Gotta love Minnesota. My orchids are still down in their grow room for a few more weeks. Would definitely love to hear more about your outside orchid structure. I’m specifically interested in what kind of posts you use to support your structure and where you found them? Life has certainly thrown you and Jan more than a fair amount of punches in the past year. I commend you for how fervently and graciously you both handled each one-growing not only spiritually, but with more tenacity, perseverance and a passion toward what ever lifeventure lays ahead. As always you both are in my thought as I aimlessly wander amongst my orchids.

    I am sorry about your mother, hope that she is doing well now. Actually I did not grow orchids for hobby, I had only one Cattleya, I grow African Violets for hobby. After I follow your posts for sometime; you might be surprised that I went to an Orchid farm a couple of hours' drive last Sunday. I had 20 Cattleyas back home with me, orchid sold here in this country is inexpensive. Cattleya $6 for a mature plant. As I had mentioned I love every of your posts, Rick- thank you so much!

    Well your shaded area is looking very professional, just a few sliding/rolling tables and you're in business 😁! Looks like it will be easier to care for everything.
    I watched the other video this morning and all your orchids are looking magnificent (not that im surprised). There are always one or two phals that i cant keep a spike after blooming, I always thought it was genetics, it will be interesting to see if you can get the mottled phal to keep its stem next spring.

    Which video do you have your terracotta pot clip where it fits onto the pot and has just a little small hook that it will fit onto shelving or some kind of wire rack that will hold a terracotta pot security. I can kind of remember but I cannot find your video I have been looking what I kind of work up is not really ideal but it does work but I would like to have a nice clip easily made and actually doesn't look like a chunk of metal. It is good to hear from you help both of y'all are doing well and truly anxious to see your babies. I will tell you one thing I have used your lava rocks and your way of doing things for cattleyas and it has work awesomely for me. I had one Cattleya since 95 it grew but it never flowered for me and it was only one lead at a time oh God about 6 now all on the same plant it's amazing a little knowledge can be dangerous your plants can grow let's see if I get a flower out of this one. I have to admit that I put my other cattleyas that I have purchased because I got brave and had some success and I use the hydro balls they are working well also. Can't wait for what you teach us this year. Keep thinking and we will keep listening.

    Hello Rick
    Thanks for all the
    Great
    Great answer you made in your last but b4 your Video describing Auxin issues !!
    I am a grower like you . Out side growing use Rocks as media with RW/RO following TDS & Ph reading and yse same nutriant /Feed/Supliments like you less jack, Garden lime and kalpn surely following as learnt from you.
    recently 14 of my catt/Den are transplanted from coco husk to rock!
    I am concerned about transplant shock, I came to know Vitamin B1 contain humic acid can thrive out transplant shock . Should i use them ?
    can you tell me how to use ? single mix with ro? at what ppm or can mix with regular feed ?
    Or
    you gave better suggessions to this situation !!
    Thanks , My prayer for Rickky jan and their green around !!

    • @rickl.orchids
      @rickl.orchids  5 лет назад +1

      humic acid helps the plant absorb nutrients....makes the nutrients more easily absorbed.....but they aren't nutrients and don't provide enough for the plant to grow...…..for a newly transplanted plant.....I would recommend calmag and kelp/seaweed...….the hormone's will tell the plant to grow roots......and the calcium will allow it to grow....Humic acid is fine on healthy plants with good roots....

    • @HamimChowdhury

      rick
      you said just oposite what the B1 Bottle says
      they says
      This B1 has humic acid like chamical which help plant replacement to survive !
      That i am confused what they mean by " humic acid like chamical"
      Sound logical if the root not healthy how the hormon can work for her ?
      you sound logical for humic acid !! not sure about B1 vitamin i am talking to you !!
      Do you suggest we suggest application of humic acid or B1 Should be mixed with other feed?
      Or
      A single mix and what ppm it should be used. !!

    • @rickl.orchids
      @rickl.orchids  5 лет назад +1

      " humic acid like chemical"...…….means probably an artificial or synthetic form of humic acid...…...B1 has a short shelf life in bottles...…..such as Super Thrive...…..so Im not a big fan...…….B1 is good for plants and humic acid is good for plants...…..but not needed for repotting...…..you can use them......but I see no difference.
