Back in like 2008 when I still played online games I never used voice chat or any other indicators that I’m female because the amount of creepiness, patronizing and straight up verbal abuse was just so overwhelming for a teenage girl. I had a best friend like the girl in the third story in high school and it was terrible. We had a lot of fun together and I loved her more than my real sisters sometimes but she would not only choose terrible boyfriends but two faced “friends” as well. Every time I tried to warn her that I heard her friends talking about her behind her back or that her bfs were not right mentally she ignored me. It made me feel like I was crazy for being the only one trying to convince her. I haven’t spoken to her in years and while I do miss her my life is also a lot less stressful.

No not really, bc I know, how stupid, unreasonable and paranoid I can be myself sometimes in a scary scenario - which is a lot worse, when I'm alone on my own, as there's no second person analysing the situation with me and helping me figure out, what to do next. Our brains don't always work in the exact same way, or even very rationally, while in fear - so who I'm I to judge? Of course most will agree, lots of injuries and sometimes even murders (which were not, or only poorly, shortly before premeditated) wouldn't have occurred in the same, sometimes bizarre ways, if we'd put two (or more) other, relatively relaxed persons in the places of the victim(s) and the perpetrator(s), maybe even with the explanations and foresight-knowledge we're already being given, while watching/listening ... it's just not the same experience, like being scared sh!tless and stuck in the situations described in these stories and the outcome with relaxed people would be so different... But in reality, suddenly it all boils down to brains, that can misfire badly while in shock, bodies reacting to these brains weird signals and our souls/our ability to empathize with one another while under huge duress; let that sink in.

He was making all kinds of remarks just because I insulted his favorite game. After that we both were just taking shots at each other. I was keeping it civil because I didn't wanna get banned but my roasts were on point. Somehow he got banned and he got all mad and angry. He made another account just to get back at me. He told me my name, my address, my state and city and that he was an army vet and he has got contacts so that he could arrange an acid attack on me. I was 24 at the time but boy the anxiety got to me. I don't get threaten when someone claims that they're gonna find me and beat me up. I've no problem in fighting back. But acid attack that's pretty revolting. Living your entire life with a disfigured face, and you can't even fight back against these kind of attack. I am a guy and I was already getting pretty anxious. Can't imagine what this little girl was feeling at the time. All you gamers be safe out there, pretty sickening individuals with issues out there.

The last story with the missing cow reminds me of a Finnish folk belief of "metsänpeitto" (forest's cover). It's a bit like...alternative dimension in a sense I suppose. Forest spirits (things called haltija or maahinen usually) might take a cow or another farm animal or even a small child and hide it in metsänpeitto, or you might accidentally stumble in it. You would not recognise where you were, feel unnerved, and get confused, even though you just were in a familiar spot. Other people would not be able to see you, either, or they might perceive you as something naturally part of the woods like a rock. Sometimes beings stuck in metsänpeitto would eventually stumble their way back out or aid their release from it by tricks like turning their jacket upside down. You could also sometimes see into metsänpeitto by looking through an opening between roots for example. There were also spells that could be perfomer to release cattle or people from metsänpeitto.

I used to have a best friend that was very similar so I feel like the reason she stayed friends with her (at least this is how it was for me) is that even though they never believe you or take your advice you have so many good times together and while they don’t accept your feelings on their relationships they are still there for you in certain things. Also if you have known someone for a long time and you have so many great memories with them then it will appear as if the good outweighs the bad and that is why you hang on to that person.

I remember once a former friend invited me to an online party on Xbox and one of his drunk friends who also happened to be a hacker said my full name and address aloud in the party. Oddly, I was more annoyed than spooked 😒
Dude seriously, people can be especially creepy on Xbox. I played with someone for two days and they were already trying to tell me who I was allowed to play with, two days later they were talking love. That’s thankfully not common in the games I play but it happens several times a year. There’s only one I was scared would find me, he still tries to reach out every couple of months.

Dude seriously, people can be especially creepy on Xbox. I played with someone for two days and they were already trying to tell me who I was allowed to play with, two days later they were talking love. That’s thankfully not common in the games I play but it happens several times a year. There’s only one I was scared would find me, he still tries to reach out every couple of months.
