The fact that the “during the ten minutes I was dead” goofy speech is supposed to be a parody and there is absolutely nothing that separates it from normal kingdom hearts plot point, is probably the most perfect representation of kingdom hearts story telling ever.
Donald's incomprehensible squabbling is the only thing I understand in the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

Can’t lie, this video is actually what got me to want to play Kingdom Hearts in the first place. Even though it rags on the game the whole time, it made me think “I have to play this for myself” and I ended up becoming a massive fan lmao.
Us fans shit on the series all the time.
This makes me happy. xD Sometimes the fun of being a KH fan is just embracing the stupid.
I tend not to shit on the series, because I really think it’s a miracle it continues to exist, let alone been pitched to begin with. Still, I still appreciate when it gets exposure regardless of the intent. There really isn’t anything like this in gaming where a literal crossover fanfic was made into something official and playable. The community has grown so much where there’s so must dispute between how everything should have played out that I start to laugh at all interpretations.

Something that I feel a lot of people miss is that in KH1, no one with real knowledge (I.e. Riku getting high off his own clout doesn't count) ever explicitly stated that there is only one Keyblade wielder. In fact, most of the lore and information we learn on the keyblade is purely Legends and speculation passed down through myth. Many of the characters, even Leon, had never even seen one before. But some worlds have legends that lend credence to the idea that there have been past Keyblade wielders. Then Riku-Ansem gets one; and at the end, Mickey shows up with one as well. So in the first game, 3 people had Keyblades at the same time. People are just way too literal and take intentionally vague statements at face value.
I’m with you there. But it’s not just that, Leon and the others call Sora “the chosen one,” and people bring their own assumptions into a phrase like that.
Funny thing is, when I first played the game as a kid, I didn’t know about FF8, so I thought, “Sora has the Keyblade. Leon has the Gunblade. What other kinds of blades am I gonna see in this game? Are all the blades gonna fight together at the end of the game?!”

@@Fuzunga which is kinda true. the Kingdom Key, based on what Mickey says, is the Key for the Realm of Light and the Kingdom Key D is the opposite, a Keyblade of Darkness. Together they control the Door to Darkness and possibly the Door to Light as well, so Sora does have a special Keyblade that can do more than the average one :0
~~also Thor’s hammer doesn’t inherently work like that and also in the original mythology only he can use it because only he is strong enough to. :D~~

For example if you play the very first animal crossing on GameCube you can actually randomly find the nes game excitebike and actually playing it. Meaning you're playing as Villager who is playing excitebike.
In Kingdom Hearts Data within data is basically going to twilight town, or Tron's world.... or just playing Re:Coded

Since I see you’re curious they actually have every single Kingdom Hearts Light Novel in a collection. Really expensive though. Don’t know if the manga has the same treatment But they’re very different from each other if you are interested.

2:00 Fun Fact: Someone actually counted the number of times they say "darkness" in every KH game. This does include KH3 though, so I recommend finishing that before you watch it.

Something you didn't notice during yesterday's stream, Dee: In that underwater segment, the ruins that were there... were an upside down Daybreak Town, from Union X. Scala Ad Caelum were built on top of their ruins.

pretty much everyone grew up on disney. and the RPG loves love FF. its an odd paring but merging something from our teen lives with something from our childhood made something magical. i never enjoyed the gameplay so i couldnt get into it. but i love the concept.

While it's convoluted in every inconceivable way & goes out of it's way to make it worse and worse, I do think people exaggerate it making "no sense". If you play every game, it makes perfect sense.
You just have to listen to and read every last little itty bitty bit of dialogue, and maybe watch a few RUclips Breakdowns. Also the subreddit helps a lot.

The whole "Kingdom Hearts makes no sense" thing was 100% made up by people who only played the KH1 and KH2 and then went onto KHDDD or KH3 and had no idea what was going on so they just blamed the franchise.
The “so this is basically” creator, jello apocalypse, is my favorite animated RUclipsr. He has created a game called pizza game which is a hilarious visual novel. I BEG YOU TO PLAY IT. It’s so funny

I truly believe that when they said there can be the "chosen one" I think they mean the Kingdom Key specifically. It's part of the X-blade, and there's a dark counterpart to it. It's probably a special keyblade of pure light.
The thing is people go on about Sora not being special compared to the others... but he is the only character we know of that wasn't given the ability to wield the keyblade by someone else, he literally got it because the keyblade itself saw him as a worthy replacement to Riku and then later choose Sora over Riku. We never see another keyblade show that level of sentience, or hear of any other keyblade wielder that wasn't bequeathed one first. That and the whole "you are the one who will open the door to the light" thing which he was told before he got the keyblade/Riku fell to darkness so they aren't inheritly connected. Sora very well could be some special chosen one, just not for what we think.
If you are enjoying KH videos, I recommend “A Good Enough Summary of Kingdom Hearts” by Barry Kramer. It does summarize everything really well, and it is hilarious.

I haven't read the rest of the novels, even when I'm tempted to do so. But i heavily recommend the 365/2 novel. Because of the novel format, you get way deeper into the mind of the characters, especially Xion's and Axel's .
